i dont want to be a passimist but THE MOMENTUM OF THE PUNCH WUD LAND ON THE FACE BEFORE ONE CAN GRAB and throw down the attacker,i learned that the hard way after being punched on the face.I MEAN WHEN R THESE TECHNIQUES GOING TO BE PRACTICAL IN REAL LIFE SITUATION,Steven segal wud have no difficulty executing these techniques since he is into it for 15 years and he does them IN THE MOVIES
He jumps because this is a slow-motion demontration. In reality, If u didnt jump like he does, ur face will hit the floor. sorry about my terrible English.
the translation of the Japaneese is 'added energy throw' and the idea is found in all martial arts like Judo Jujitsu and Akijutsu Philipflip and quietman will have to get off the computor and on the mats to SEE what it looks like and santiago better hope nobody tries to castrate him with a knife one day
Bio: Mastison Sensei is an inductee into the US Martial Arts hall of fame and is a 5th degree black belt who has been active in the martial arts for over 35 years."
Believe it or not, people do indeed punch to the torso. And it's very effective. This guy isn't the smoothest in the world, and his Uke gave it to him a bit too easily, but that technique DOES work quite well. It's also useful against a thrusting weapon such as a knife.
Also, instead of throwing, you can add one more twist and end up dislocating the person's arm if you're in a bad mood. Not only is it easy... it's actually hard NOT to do.
The presenter has the right idea: use the attacker's momentum to you advantage and continue his line of travel by throwing him past you, while you step to the side. Being amateur myself, I think the hardest part, for me, is to recognize an incoming punch and react quickly enough...
OMG this is SUCH BS! C'mon, stops selling this crap. You give real MA's a bad name

in street fighting, people aim more toward the face, with that said, learn some techniques that have to do with those kind of techniques..
