Regarding the story at the end- she says the ghost she saw passed around 1832, which seems like quite an exact date but Mt. Hope wasn't founded until 1838! That said, older cemeteries were often moved into newer ones so it is possible, if we believe she really got a message from a spirit, that they had been originally buried elsewhere and moved there. I have come across Mt. Hope online many times but have never been close enough to visit, it looks amazing and I must see it.

Bausch and Lomb family is there. Susan B Anthony and Frederick Douglas are also buried there. Jack the Ripper is also buried in Rochester but at a different cemetary.

I live in Rochester and have gone through there at night. It has an eerie feel to it because it was the first Victorian cemetary in the USA. It backs right up to the University of Rochester. Students going back to their dorms at night have to walk past it.

Mt Hope Cemetery is an historic and interesting place, scenic and a natural setting. Though no longer, I once was a long time resident of Rochester and probably over a twenty year period visited MHC over 100 times(even at night - boo! - on occasion). Never saw one ghost...wish I had though...

@MINDSLAYER1 It is a beautiful cemetary. It backs up to the University of Rochester and also runs along the Genesee River. I spent many nights in there and haunted or not --- you feel like you are being watched. Inside the cemetary you feel miles from anything even though you are less than 2 miles from downtown. You won't be disappointed.
