so I worked with a Russian fellow when this all started and I asked him about it. He says that georgia was pushing and attacking acrossed the border so Russia attacked back and pushed them back. He couldn't believe how the media totally twisted this around. I'm not russian so I figured he'd know what he was talking about with his own country

They used some Ossetian rebels to provoke Georgia along the border. The Georgians won some time 2-3 days, attacking first. Houndres of tanks and other heavy equipment were wating just otside the border.
