  • we need more bowlers bowling small ball. 5 pin, candlepin, duckpin etc. Big Ball/Ten Pin bowlers shoot 300 games like candy, how about something involving some SKILL!

  • Hooray for free-fall pinsetters!!! A better way to bowl fairly!

  • where i bowl we have strings and it is extremly hard to even come close to something like that, almsot impossible. there has been splits spared for sure but nothing like that!

  • its always possible. ;)

  • Sounds like the old Quebec company: Mendes machines, lol

  • If car companies like Dodge can bring back the Challenger, bowling companies can bring back free-fall setters!

    Makes sense to me. :)

  • Yes, I absolutely agree. I heard from some people. Including Andrew Flynn from Youth Bowlers of Canada saying that a majority of Canadians prefer to use free-falls, rather than strings. Because of traditions, and to play 5-pin bowling fairly.

  • I've noticed on the Robin's Duckpin website that there is a duckpin bowling alley in Indianapolis called "Atomic Bowl." And the duckpins runs on strings. But it also says that with the strings, it is not regulated rules by the National Duckpin Bowling Congress. Which that is good for us.

  • The Alley in Indianapolis isn't as nice as one that has a Sherman pinsetter instead of the strings. The strings greatly reduce the pin action.

  • It is obvious that the back crash mat is too close to the back of the lane or tail plank. Pins do not under normal circumstances get those kind of kick backs.

  • not necessarily. though there is some variation in what is allowed, i think the range is about 5-6 inches.

  • What a bad break on the first shot.. But i guess he compensated on the second.

    Beautiful shot

  • That was the aces conversion.

  • wow in 10 pin that would be 7-10

  • I Hate String Setters. I have tried to spare this for over 20 years, but NOOO!! I'm guessing the string is short and puss it away after about 18" of travel. :( one time I even screamed out Obsenities, cos i did exacly that, but the string pulled it back and just "wiggled" the other pin, needless to say, i packed up and moved out....

    Stings - no

    FreeFall - Yes

  • It depends on how the back is set up. I have personally took both 3 and 2 pins in one shot twice in the last week in one of the bowling alleys I play in, and it has string setters. It will only be a matter of time before I pull off a headpin spare there. In my other bowling alley, I've made the same shot you have, and the results were identical to yours.

  • Also, in the alley that I had nearly spared the aces, The back is at least 3' from the deuces. Although the strings are long enough to allow the pin to travel that far, it takes one powerful shot to bounce a deuce off the back and keep it from falling in the pit before it hits the other deuce. In Sylvan Lake, I think you can make that shot, despite the string pinsetters.

  • i seen tons of 4 counts on string setters and thrown about 4 or 5 myself you obv dont throw a hard ball its the only chance u got

  • his first shot is actually called an ace then he spared it

  • Thanks, 1995.

  • what is that guys name again?

  • It's neat, how that type of five pin bowling, didn't have strings on the pins.

  • great video! what year was this from?

  • 5 stars

  • haha good ol' Geno

  • BrillianT!

  • awesome shot

  • Cool shot..the 4-5 split LOL
