this is my favorite Chuck Berry song. I tried playing this but my guitar exploded because of the awesome. Don't attempt to play this, unless you have some sort of Chuck blessed guitar.
They took the one pinball game out of my university. Do you think Chuckie would approve? That was a pinball machine to university population of 1 to 35,000, and it was the best damn pinball machine in town. My motivation to learn has gone way down without that pinball machine in town.
Just kicked my programming work aside and took my guitar, playing chords for your phrases. Oh well, a bit more into the heavy metal region, with much staccato as always :-D (Don't hit me for that! ;-))
But it is always those original songs that live in the good new ones.
Hey, man. Great job! I am 66 years old and still play a lot of Chuck Berry at my gigs. I learned a lot from this video to improve my delivery. thanks. Question: where could I get some of the backing tracks you use? I need School Days, Johnny B Goode, Oh Carol, Sweet Little Sixteen, Sweet Little Rock & Roller. Thanks, Ed. elymayor@hotmail.com
I am amazed by your guitar playing. I truly enjoy watching your videos. For what it's worth I know there are many who appreciate what you do. Thank you.
What a great job. I come back just to relive my hi school days in the 50's. You've got the feel and project it real well. Where would the guitar be without the great Chuck Berry and guys like you that keep that sound going. "Thanks" for all your vids.
Now that's what i call a cover and a Hell of a Guitar, i'm not sure if you'll reply, that was amazing, i'm a 13 year old guitarist who has just performed a Gala in my
village and won a competition at my school called " Battle of the Bands", alot of my knowledge of guitar has come from watching you play... Keep up the Good work, Oh and how much was the Gretsch?
Twangy i think i figured you out. You are just like my dad. You play music not to be famous, or get public praise, or anything of that nature. That is why you don't play live. You play just because music is something that you have loved sense you were about my age or younger. When you said that you couldn't think of a more miserable way to spend your time, well i don't think it's worth it unless you pay other people to move your aquiptment for you. That's my point of view anyway. Good job!
Found your stuff yesterday. Absolutely brilliant and inspiring to say the least. You have some brilliant talent (obviously hard work has paid off) and fantastic guitars.
Love your work. Keep rock'n and posting....please!
Sam I love when you play songs from when I was just starting to appreciate music as a little kid. my parents have a home movie of me pretending to play this song on my little plastic toy guitar..: ) you made my day.... of course now I want to run out and get a Gretsch, I listened to some Rev Horton Heat and loved it...thanks again for always inspiring me.
@MyTwangyGuitar I like your attitude man. It's nice to see that someone understands that you can appreciate classic rock and still enjoy the new stuff.
Great job Twangy,. I discovered you about 2 weeks ago and I've developed a 'Twangy' addiction. Love your covers and lessons. I'm 52 and have noodled with guitar for 30 years but you and others on YT have inspired me to put some real time/effort into the instrument. If I could request 1 song it would be 'How High The Moon" by Les Paul and Mary Ford. I think that tune is right in your wheelhouse. Thanks again for all your hard work
Hi Twangy. Great playing. great song. great guitar. great tone.Such a shame you dont go out and play in public. i'm in my 50's now, been playing guitar 40 years and still out gigging most weeks. yes it can be a hard work at times but the rewards make it all worth while. A man with your playing talent should be out there with a band or maybe you have had enough of that in the past. love your taste in music. i'm also a big john fogarty fan.
WOW! Awesome! I just pray one day I can have a thousand views a day so I can quit my day job. Do you play for a living? Impressive that you down stroked the whole song, too. Nice job!
Thanks, Twangy... my 4th grade teacher played this song for us during "free time," an activity that I don't think exists anymore in modern schools. lol I always wanted to know who performed it
...but thanks to you, now I have the chance to learn it. Keep 'em coming, dude.
Hey Twangy i wanted to first say thanks for the encouragement, and say that you just keep impressing me again and again and again and again, and well you get the idea. PLEASE keep the awesome vids comin'. You are one of the few out on youtube who actually listens to real music. Of course me being 12 makes it to where all my friends like that stuff. They love pop and i don't any songs that they sing all the time. "Long live Rock and roll"
¡¡ Genial !! Great as usual ! Always wanted to learn how to play this song correctly, and not being gifted I was never able. Now I will, THANKS TO YOUR FANTASTIC VIDEO !!
¡¡ Genial !! Great as usual ! Always wanted to learn how to play this song correctly, and not being gifted I was never able. Now I will, THANKS TO YOUR FANTASTIC VIDEO !!
Hey Sam, I appreciate your videos so much! And The Munsters Theme is off the hook... I have a couple of questions. What amp do you play your maple neck Tele through? And, will you please do a lesson on Long Cool Woman, by The Hollies? Please??? Nobody on YT does it right, and you would do it with just right TWANG. Rebel Rebel by David Bowie would be a nice bonus too...
Excellent. Again. But of course you knew that before you uploaded ;-)
The vocals sound a little less smooth and the phrasing a little different to the version I know (from the Chuck Berry Anthology) - Is that an original Chuck Berry version?
I'm a fan (i mean you, not only chuck berry)! Question: you said you learn everything by ear; how long does it take to learn a song (take this as example)?
@MyTwangyGuitar That's what makes us get better! I'm always getting complained to that I never think I played good enough, but if I ever think that I did good then I'll stop wanting to improve. As much as perfectionism sucks in the moment, it creates long term improvement.
Sam I could listen to your music all day long. The tone you're now getting from this guitar is very good. Your music just always brings a smile to my face - quite a challenge given I'm stuck in working on Bank Holiday!
