@hoppuss44 I believe that hoppuss44 is not referring to the internet or cancer treatments when he says that Britain has gotten backwards. What he wants I think is a return to patriotism, when life was simpler because England was right, ships were wood, men were iron, and "of course" the only thing to do was amputate. Even if the age was not ideal, it is idealized; he draws culture from it, and wants to be closer. It may not have been a better time for most people, but try to understand him.

Britain may no longer be the superpower she once was, but the financial she built allowed her to continue to grow and to help other developing countries grow even faster.
