  • This is music on his purest.

  • This is absolutely a mix of Ottoman, Persian and Arabic cultures.

  • what the hell are you talking about!?!:.. the name of the music is MARCO POLO, he traveled China, India, Turkistan, Arabia, Persia, Syria, Anatolia and finally Italia. This Music embraces all these cultures.

  • Awakening .....

  • this is beautifull!!!!

  • wow

  • i'm Greek and I think that this is music is so ottoman...

  • when i close my eyes i remenber my dream!!!!!

  • This song is my best one for a striptease thing..Loreena is so damn fine..!!

  • Makes me think of a trading caravan.......moving along the Silk Road, through the Mystical Orient, all the way to mysterious China. Silk, fragrances, fruits, spices etc fill the air around it. :-)

  • totally! i'm a belly dancer too, always looking for new inspirational music, what a great find! Am already putting a choreo together in my mind:)

  • This music is Ottoman and Arabic inspired... who the hell is saying China? Doesn't make sense. I'm half Arab and half Turk and this doesn't sound chinese whatsoever.

  • @PullTheTricker

Its actually Celtic and the Celts migrated all over the world, even red headed Celtic remains are being found in China, Indo-European.

Anatolia was once first known as Galatia before the Turks invaded and raped and pillaged and murdered everyone and have attempted like much of the race mixed invaders of Asia Minor at a poor attempt of Racial and Cultural mimicry.

Welcome to History, sit down, stay while.

  • @PullTheTricker

Agreed. I'm Turk and this song includes Persian, Arab, Turkish motifs. Maybe Celts but Persian violin is different I can hear it. Whatever I like ethnic music :)

  • @PullTheTricker Turks are the worse human beings ever stepped foot on earth,

I wouldnt be too proud if i were you.

  • @AnimePresident and you are to judge that ? who do you think you are lol anime president

  • @AnimePresident Us Greeks are not that much better, since we judge every human being on this planet that does not speak Greek.... The skyladika YOU listen to are heavily based on Turkish music, you know... And after all, this half Turk assumed no excellency of the Turkish race, he/she merely pointed out the non existent relationship of this music to Chinese music. Relax your sphincter, man

  • @AnimePresident The worse human beings are fascists..

  • NOTE SPEZIATE DI UN MAGICO ORIENTE !

  • Great Turkish sounds, it perfectly reflects the melodies of eastern mediterraenean culture of Turkey, and of course respect for this awesome performance by Loreena McKennitt. Simply amazing, take you to somewhere else...Looking forward to visit Aegean/Western Mediterraenean parts of Turkey again a.s.a.p. Unique atmosphere, great beaches, lovely people, and one of a kind Turkish cuisine.

  • wonderful music, really so brilliently done, greetings from Morocco

  • Loreena has a real wonderful unique way. This piece is typical Egyptian belly dancing music and tunes, I am Egyptian and I am sure of that, I wonder if she ever lived here to be able to get that intense feeling of the Egyptian music

  • The song makes me feel like I am riding a camel in a caravan in the desert. So amazing and exotic.

  • Everyone I have ever introduced to this song loves it! No matter what music they like...

  • When I sing her songs everyone stares at me in disbelief. But I can NEVER sing as good as her. Love celtic music, and I love Loreena.

  • sounds so egyptian

  • Interesting. So that's where the theme for Dazil in Xenogears came from.

  • best use of this song was the guys at the ren festival near Detroit with the crystal balls and yes very hypnotic and magical but love this song

  • tout y est ou presque a les parfums d'Orient.........

  • For as long as I can remember our family as had a wind up music box with a Sufi dancer on top. The background melody in this song is the actually the song that the music box plays. I heard this song last year and was overwhelmed with memories of when we would play with that music box as kids....

  • I practice belly dancing and this music is just PERFECT! thanks for posting!

  • @laurids2007 you should be the sexiest youtuber

  • @laurids2007 This music is perfect for so many dances! :)

  • This song may be the most beautiful song I've ever heard.

  • انا بعشقك لورينا اجمل موسيقا

  • Oops... My bad. I didn't think that post went through and posted twice. Sorry guys.

  • OK... Loreena's song is based on Sufism? My bad... I always associate Sufism with Shams and his Islamic teachings and the Dance of the Planets, which is mostly drums. I stand corrected. You're right, the Sufi do feel music is all around us, (birds and crickets sing; ocean waves are rhythmic; and when God "breathed" life into the first man, actually, He "sang" life into the first man) and so, music is in our souls from God Himself and therefore, OK (Oll Korrect).

  • OMG! Celtic? LOL

Some people don't know a shit about ethnic music. o.o

  • my favourite of her.

  • Her songs are the reason i started to play the violin, piano, irish tin whistle, and soon, the harp ^_^ i am only 12 and i am like "HEY, Loreena Mckennitt plays this instrument and sings to it, i want to learn to play it." LOL!

  • @8azile8 Well said!

  • @8azile8 What is hookah may I ask?

  • Listening to this is like listening to storyteller :D

  • If you buy the CD, she tells you on the CD sheet that she has woven an authentic Sufi song into the music.

  • MARCO!

  • POLO!!!!

  • MARCO!

    ... come on people.

    MARCO!

  • @EJAXK13 sounds so middle eastern so arabian can't you see yourself riding across the desert sands on some camels with a turban wrapped around your head with bags full of gold? can't you see that shit man!?!

  • @EJAXK13 Polo !

  • @MissChrissDemon666 FISH OUT OF WATER!

  • If I could hit Like a hundred times, I would. This is one of my favorite Loreena McKennit songs... that and t he Mummer's Dance. She does some really COOL music that helps when I'm in need of either relaxing or just simply zoning out.

  • the true music for the true faih! just make by heart and within....

  • deep magic

  • @AfroNatives4life

It also bothers me when people saying rapping is "talking". Just because it isn't singing doesn't mean it is just talking. I'd like to see 90% of people rap the way the big boys (and girls) do it~

  • Best song I have heard. Ever. MAGICALNESS!!! XD

  • ein neue verbindung -- zum engel -

die freundschaft kann man nicht trennen !!!!!

schade .. das der seelencosmos geschlossen wurde ...

    wunder welt !!!!

  • Listen, Rap IS actual music. Every individual has different preferences with music. Respect other people`s preferences, enjoy Loreena`s beautiful music, and stop criticizing people just because they like something different.

  • @AfroNatives4life

    Kudos to you.

One of the many joys of life is variety, and just because someones personal taste differs, it does not mean it is worse.

  • this fall on the list of songs that cant get loud enough

  • its great to listen to her songs , espesially on a long road ... I tried it !

  • Can't stop listening - very hypnotic!

  • @aFireICannotPutOut

yeah! is true!! listening this song, close your eyes and you can fly!

  • @aFireICannotPutOut absolutely agree.

  • very beautiful SONG!

  • i think the most erotic sensual and mysteries part of the world to humans is middle east... pure aphrodisiac :D

  • @thiocilline yes! one of the most grand, and adventurous also! whenever i hear this music, i think of the splendor of the old kingdoms that once existed in ancient persia. or of rogues and assassins running across rooftops! and when a vocal is sung, it adds so much emotion with the arabic sounds in the background. like you can feel the opression of the draught and corruption stricken land. so amazing!

  • @bleujae1 loldid u played a lot prince of persia ? :) but yes true..mostly to me the ottoman harems the palaces of Istanbul and bagdat , the 1001 night tales comes to my mind... ladies dancing half naked under the lights of candles , many scents mixed with each other vanillin, amber, rose... hunky guys at the doors and tryng not to seduce by these belly dancers, sorceres and fortune tellers at the palaces, :) lol its turns into emannuel series lol

  • @bleujae1 lol u played too much prince of persia :D

  • @thiocilline is that a problem? haha :)

  • @bleujae1 sure not... :D but u may not like to hear we dont use flying carpets hehe:) by the way the movie was not good... game is better

  • I lovet his music. im doing to my new age shop and buying this cd. lol. blesse dbe!

  • Para quem gosta de New Age

  • Yes, the song is very Turkish in tempo and sound , but Turks use a lot of Saz as well as the Oud. And the breaks with the Zurna and violin sound very Egyptian. But who cares about the politics of the song. It's an absolutely beautiful piece and I'm gonna make Loreena a household word to thank her for this exquisite cut from "The Book of Secrets," which, as you may know, is one of Thoth's books (Egyptian). Love it, love it, love it, Loreena!

  • MIKI ANDO SKATED TO THIS

  • Really beautiful music ... I wouldn't have found her without YT :)

  • there's always beauty if we look for it. Loreena....no doubt at all...is one. She's a blessing for this world!!!!

  • ok I will share my opinion, first of all i think it's useless to fight about wheather rap is or isn't music compared to Loreena's. I love Loreena with all my heart, and even she accepts the musical variety, and we can see that in her songs. In my opinion, her music is not to everyone but to those who can share with other genres, for example i hate techno music and heavy metal but i must admit that some songs move me, so i admit that eventhough i hate that genre there are some good songs there!.

  • there is something compelling about this music ....

    MARCO POLO

  • mystic....

  • Just listening to this make you feel like someone is story-telling about the ancient past/..

  • who the hell could dislike this? why the hell would you come here in the first place if you're that idiotic and ignorant to what real music really is?!

  • this is beautiful! but why is it called marco polo?

  • @africangoddess707 - It's to whom the song was inspired by.

  • @africangoddess707 Probably referring to the explorer Marco Polo who traveled to asia. His journey lasted 24 years.

  • i feel like im traveling on the silk road, on a camel, riding it in the sand dunes of the middle east wonderful

  • This is music! Whatever happened to music in the 21st century.

  • I love this song.

  • I lisen to alot of music includeing rap I am a teen..And most of the people I attend school with do not like this kind of music or anything classical..Wich also sets me apart from alot of my friends and school mates.but she has a amazing voice.

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this. <3

  • too the 20 people who dislike this, you have no taste in music.

  • @xXSKAVENXx thank you! people have no taste in music...Lady gaga, biber, and trashy spears isnt musiv.

  • fave song by her! hell the whole album owns!!!

  • The Sufi melodies are amazing !

Call it a chorus if you will, I just really really like it !

  • this music lifts my soul and relaxes me. i will defintly be using this in ritual. Blessed be!

  • @MrMichapalooza Try Vangellis (composer of many sound tracks to films like 1492 Conquest of pardise or Last of the Mohecans), or Clannad, "theme from Harry's game". Anggun is Indonesian and she sings mostly in French & wow what a voice, "Snow on a desert" is beautiful. Good luck and Happy New Year!

  • it stimulates my brain:)

  • I dream of the Arabian desert rose

  • The is beyond brilliant. True music. It moves you and sends your body into a rythmic dance of the senses as all music should...

  • @321davin

then listen to gaga with the other stupid people.

  • some ignorants wrote that its celtic,it has definitely ottoman sufist style rhytms.although i like loreena she has to inform her audiences and followers about backgrounds and stories for each piece of music

  • @massimodut When the CD was released there was a booklet with it. She tells of her experiences whilst travelling through that region, meeting local people and being moved by their skill and traditional style of music. She lamented the fact that we in the west have lost these skills, She is a Celt, an amazingly talented Harpist/ Vocalist & using tradional regional influences with Her Celt? Gaelic style. A very international Irish artist. She did explain. Peace my friend, She unites us with music

  • @massimodut well I have to sort of disagree. The title of this song is called Marco Polo & the album is called Book of Secrets. Although she is known for "Celtic" music doesn't mean she should have to instruct her fans - who should just take the time to consider more than the instrumental qualities. It's my understanding that this song reflects the explorer Marco Polo & his travels in journeying to parts of Asia; ergo the very non-traditional Celtic style of the music.

  • @massimodut She actually does. Extensively! And if you read about it, you'll find it is, in fact, Celtic, one way or another. ;)

  • @massimodut In the CD booklet Loreena indeed says she has interwoven an authentic Sufi melody. Some ignorants don't buy the CD and say that Loreena doesn't inform her audiences correctly.

  • @massimodut , Ignorant people are ignorant. If they wanted to know what they were talking about they could always do a bit of reasearch out of respect... its a shame people disgrace themselves by babbling garbage.

  • @massimodut Doesn't she? I thought she said in an interview that she finds a musical connection between celtic and the middle east and likes to play with that. I know I read that somewhere...

  • @massimodut She does, but you can't cure stupid.

  • @massimodut true!
