  • in fact, here is a list of vehicles you CAN buy!!

    Sienna

    Yaris

    4Runner

smaller than the list they are recalling-every one of thier best selling models is not for sale!

    FJ Cruiser

    Land Cruiser

  • toyota is still the best, dont let this small mistake fool you. most of the customers dont really care about the recall anyways. they did interviews with toyota customers, and they said they will be sticking to them. one interview, some guy drove his prius over a little hole and press the brakes all fine. the media is just exagerating the story

  • @JUKIO01 small mistake? dont care about the problems? are you listening to yourself, or are you a troll? toyota is hurting, and will be for years. it will take years for toyota to rebuild thier reputation. all thier most popular models are unavailable for purchase, and they have killed people. that will take a while to forget, till then ford will be the car to buy

  • i disagree, toyota is a big fuckin corporation, this little incident wont effect them that much. in fact, because of this little incident, toyota will come back 10 times stronger now. so ford, chrysler and GM, they wont have any chance. plus why would u buy an american car? first they build u guys shitty cars, then they make you bail them out for their mistakes? american car coppration basicaly fucked u in the your ass twice! and laughed about it

  • let the true be told!

  • @JUKIO01 this is not a "little incident" half of their cars are on a stop sale. that means that for a week, nobody has bought a tacoma, tundra, camry, corrola, avalon, highlander, rav4, sequoia, venza, and now prius. toyota is losing 2 billion dollars beacuse of this, and this will tarnish the companys reputation for years. it will take 5 or more years for them to recover, the are screwed

  • lol! At least my American car doesn't decide to randomly accelerate to 120mph and then crash killing everybody in the car! If you think Toyota will recover from this quickly, you're dumb.

  • they will, just wait and see

  • By the way, if your American car ever does start accelerating on its own, shift it in to neutral or turn the key off. We should all learn that lesson from Toyota. This probably won't be the last time this problem happens with some car. The Toyota owners that had acceleration problems could have easily brought the car under control.

  • Yeah I know that, there are many ways to stop a car with 'unintended acceleration', the fact that a CHP officer couldn't figure it out really surprised me. The point I'm making is my American car doesn't have any of these issues the Toyotas are, and yet according to the Toyota fan club members, I'm driving an unreliable piece of crap, simply because it's American. I think it's funny.

  • People are really stuck in the American versus Foreign car debate, it is a little silly. Fact is, Toyota's like the the Sienna are 85% American content. This is higher American content than most of the big three. As for the quality of your American car, well that probably depends on the specific car. Recently I had drove a new Chevy Malibu and was very impressed even though I am a Toyota lifer. Can't wait for the Chevy Volt.

  • I'd like to know where you got that 85% figure, because as far as I know Toyota imports a lot more of their parts than the big 3 on average. Also, I'm a GM guy and I drove a new Nissan Altima that I really liked recently and I'm a big fan of the Toyota Land Cruiser and Sequoia. Most car companies make some good and some bad cars.

  • I agree with you about car companies making good and bad cars. The whole import vs domestic thing is overly simplistic. As for the 85% Toyota Sienna American content, this comes from NHTSA. I can't give you the link here but google "AALA2008 Percentages.XLS" and you will find it. The Sienna is the secondmost American vehicle in the list.

  • @stanbernadino hey, cut them some slack, toyotas dont accelerate to 120. they accelerato to 102 where they run out of puff

  • so whos the troll now?

  • Toyota is still the best!

  • @rockyjrr2004 i know you are joking, so i will laugh

  • @EatmyDust1311 No disrespect intended, but im really not, i honestly still do strongly believe that they are the best out there along with Subaru, & a select few other Japanese, South Korean, & even a couple non-luxury European manufacturers that closely follow...I still have strong faith & trust in Toyota, iv lost all that with Detroit, a long time ago, however.

  • @rockyjrr2004 well, thell that to the chp officer and his wife, daughter and brother in law that died. im sure thay had faith in thier lexus. a lot of people dont know everything that is happening with toyota, now the prius is in for brake recall and toyota knew about the problem for a long time. they are uber protectionist. and they dont seem to care about thier customers safety. i bash them for making dull cars, but i at least expected them to be reasonably safe, dont you?

  • @EatmyDust1311 Maybe im overly ignorant, but i think they've done right so far, Detroits done much worse, yes, i get that from Nader's Unsafe at Any Speed. I know the following WILL make me sound like a HUGE ass, but im sorry, the CHP Officer(may he & his family R.I.P.) should of never been CHP or even held a licence if he didnt know how to react to a stuck pedal, if they had enough time to call 911 they had enough time to react properly...no offence to anyone, but its common sence i think...

  • @rockyjrr2004 so what would you have done?

  • @EatmyDust1311 In my car(96 Prizm), i would have shifted into Neutral, signaled into the shoulder, turn on my hazards, & shut the car off once i was safely in the shoulder & had no need for power brakes, steering, & so on, to keep my engine from damage. & of course id procced to get out of my car with my reflective vest, set up my triangle (i kid you not!) & try & figure out the cause of the problem. I would have done the same in a Lexus... i think this would be the logical thing to do...no?

  • @rockyjrr2004 yes, but a lot of people panic in that situation and there is no proof that the chp officer was the one driving. )one more reason not to buy a lf-a, next to the rolls royce pricetag)toyota is still just a sneaky company that wont tell anybody anything the law doesnt require them to say. look it up on jalopnik, they are the toyota story real good like

  • agreed, people do tend to panic under such conditions. Well yeah, like a could even afford an LF-A, haha! Well, i guess we agree to disagree then, however, i will look up jalopnik, or on jalopnik, idk iv never heard of it or them, but ill look it up, n hopefull find it/them...

  • @rockyjrr2004 its a website about cars

  • @EatmyDust1311 Well, i have to thank you, i hadn't heard of this site before, but im sure glad you told me about it, iv only had a chance to skim thru their stuff, but i like the articles, & the overall content on the site. So thanks, i see myself going there often in the near future! I just started looking over Toyota articles now...they have several!

  • @rockyjrr2004 read the toyo articles in order and you will probably be pretty pissed with toyota-like the fact that after issuing the recal thier ceo was seen driving an audi

  • @EatmyDust1311 well thats not cool, guess this captain dosen't like going down with his ship; figuratively speaking, of course...and sadly im sure he probably wasnt doing it in the name of research and development, eh, haha!

  • @rockyjrr2004 im sure he was just keeping tabs on the competition-should take note of the nicely oiled accelerator pedal and fully functioning brakes...lol

  • @EatmyDust1311 HAHA! Yeah, even i have to admit he really should take note of that! lol. Good one! XD

  • one small problem. so what, i bet more people died in american cars then in japanese toyota cars in all of its history. toyota is still the best and will remain the best. toyota will not bow down to anyone

  • @JUKIO01 stop being a toyota loving troll. they just lost 2 BILLION dollars and thousands of potetial customers. this is hurting toyotas image and reputation in a way they have never delt with before. american cars have been on the road twice as long as japanese cars, and are safer in a * ratings than most comparable jap pos you can buy. american cars get better gas mileage, fords have better quality, are cheaper and dont send all our money to asia. usa make the cars now, japan came and is gone

  • american cars were here longer than japanese cars, and yet they still are behind toyota.

  • fords are ahead of the japs, and gms newest cars are also ahead of the japs. at this point, tata is ahead of toyota. american cars are back, so accepto this and move on in a nice new flex. behind toyota, you work for them or something? kamikazee carz!

  • toyota hasnt gone backrupt, not like the american car companies, so, they are better, still. cant argue with facts.

  • ford has not gone bankrupt. the recalls have cost toyota 2 billion, effectively wiping out thier last profits. ford made 1 billion last 1/4, and more this year

  • well, were just gona have sit back and wait and see what happens. cause we can go on and on about this and get no where. so, lets just wait and see what happens then

  • ok, chrysler is gone- i dont care, im just sorry about jeep. gm has rebuilt itself impressively, dont you think? thier new cars look good. ford hasa good model lineup, competitive cars and prices and quality. my svt raptor has no japanese match, does it? ford is making billions and gm is paying back its bailouts

  • TOYOTA!!! the BEST!! i agree with you, most of the toyota customers dont even really care about the problems, they are loyal customers and will stick toyotas side. if anyone thinks toyota is going out, you are clearly mistaken, its just the prius, all other toyota cars are fine. toyota is the biggest in the world, ford, chevy, sorry, but its not going to help u. toyota will not go down this easily!

  • Love the info, thanks. Correct and update to date information is very important to me.
