I wonder what would have happen if Bas Rutten trained Romero. I think Romero has the athletic ability to be a great fighter, nevertheles lacks striking ability and overall ring strategy. It would be interesting to have Romero train with Bas for a year.

Romero did a good job. He decided to fight a tough guy instead of a tomato can. He was patient in the beginning, maybe to cautious but he was fighting a smart fighter and that fight was a big deal for him. He really opened up at 08:33 so don´t tell me he doesn´t want to win. He will come back and puts on a stronger performance.

I wrestled with Romera in practise. That doesn´t make me an insider but at least I can tell how strong and quick he is. Incredible gifted athlet.

What a shame. Why is Romero being rushed against such a top flight opponent in his first fight in a cage? I'm hoping he sticks with MMA. Despite this loss, he's going to be a beast.

@aNamelessDread I can only assume that Romero and his team pushed for a big fight for him. As great of a wrestler as Romero was/is the dude is 34 and not getting younger. By comparison Randy Couture was fighting the likes of Belfort by his 3rd fight around the same age, and in my opinion the MMA scene was not as developed and fighters were not as skilled and even Randy had some striking base. With a fighter like Romero it makes more sense to get the bigger fights/more money.

Yoel Romero did great on his first REAL mma fight against a former Champ. He just needs to slow it down a little. Except for obviously getting knocked out he was dictating the fight.
