  • FREE TRADE SLAUGHTERING ANIMALS. PRODUCTS THAT USE FACTORY FARMED ANIMALS ARE SUBSIDIZED. ANIMALS ARE ENDANGERED AND GOING EXTINCT. SOLOR POWER, GREEN ENERGY, LESS BULL SHIT PRODUCTS AND WASTE OF RESOURSES. WE CAN DO BETTER BY GOING GREEN AND WAY LESS FOSSIL FUELS. WE DON'T NEED A FAST FOOD NATION, WE NEED A CLEAN AND HEALTHY NATION. GLAD I DON'T EAT ANIMALS. GROW YOUR OWN VEGGIES. WATCH ON YOUTUBE "EARTHLINGS". THERE'S A FUEL SHORTAGE. USE NEW MACHINES AND NOT RELY ON FOSSIL FUELS. GO VEGAN.

  • @linghun thank you :) I find the hints of genocide implicit in some of greens ideology to be quite scary due govt positions. Nature journal ran a study finding that cooling in the upper atmosphere has created a giant hole in the ozone again. Also use of CFLCs that still hasn't been totally halted. I'm not a denialist, just someone who willing to admit when myself or those around me really DON'T know the details of something. Is anyone is looking to create a blog that is skeptical but indy?

  • He did not answer the "What year will oil peak" in this video.

  • time for hypertechnologies

  • But we don't live in a finite planet, we live in an infinite universe.

  • He ignores the part about getting a lot out of a little, or new technologies. People were convinced in the 70s there was about to be an overpopulation crisis but new farming methods solved this. The difference between optimists and pessimist is a belief in the ability of the human species to innovate.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr A sane comment in an ocean of neo-malthusian religious fanaticism. Thank you.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr But what does innovation mean? The means become improved? But then the question arises: To what end? and to what effect? We can theoretically completely transform the entire globe to maintain our "standard" of living.

  • @PtAltmVansanTarr Those new farming methods are heavily dependent on cheap oil to run all the machines. As the oil gets more expensive, so does the food. If there are fuel shortages, there will be food shortages, there is simply no way around that.

  • the only way to solve our problem is to enact birth restrictions. we must lower our population now or things will only get worse.

  • Heinberg is very smart i read his book Powerdown.

i also love how the generation that gets to deal with this problem has been born into an ecstacy of energy hungry technology. its so easy for modern people to think that problems fix themselves, but they dont. boy oh boy are we going to have a fun time when gas prices keep spiking.

  • This man has a small body and a giant mind; he's right: economy is not a science, and it will never be, in spite of the ego of neoliberals and their lies. I'm afraid that our inmediate future is going to be extremely difficult, and while we go on being inmature and childish it will be simply impossible to avoid a horrible collapse of our civilization. In 1000 years time, archeology will be wondering how we could be so stupid...

  • That's what I sometimes have been thinking... But why on earth most men are so greedy? Have an incurable yearn for always more and more material good and conveniencies until the eternity? Why are we such a disastrously stupid and a short sighted race?

  • Gods law of economics is owe no man anything; Work or you don't eat; Pay your debts. Take only what you need for the day and save for a rainy day. Loan with no usury and forgive debtors as God forgives you. These laws of economics are not practice by any economy or society that I know of and its the economy that works. The credit, consumer debt and interest economy was dreamed up by bankers to claim all the wealth.

God created economics, we created Wall Street and the Federal Reserve

  • Expansion can continue but the ONLY energy technology that could allow humans to move out into space and permit some form of weather control and make mining of resources possible from the moon and other planets is fusion delivering an order of magnitude more power than fission reactors. If fusion comes in 2050, we will have near already exhausted our reserves, caused a lot of warming, and severely polluted the planet at the current rate.

  • Great video. Five stars. Captures the problem of usurious - Aristotle would have said 'incestuous' - industrial civilization in a nut-shell. Bravo, Heinberg!

  • Call me a fascist but I think the earth's population should be reduced. That means let less children be born. Kind of like the way they do it in China. Only one child per couple.

  • You're a fascist.

  • lol

  • no, I would call you a realist with common sense, also known as "reasoning"

  • damn reasaning reason is stupid,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mean what is the point of reasoning it is stupid i do not reason i not stupid due to it you stupid hahahahahha

  • yes that's one of the ways, let's say one of the most important. but it will never happen. just like in Idiocracy (is that how you would spell it?) stupid people have babies and smart people dont therefore humanity is getting dumber. Stupid, maybe ignorant person says you are wrong, the world doesnt have a problem, lets go shoot something and have unprotected sex, but an intelligent person would say I will have a child when the time is perfect well the time is never perfect.

  • I think the best way of fixing the crisis is to create a law where you have to take like an IQ test to have a child, or something to prove that you are not going to add to the degradation of the human society. Sound silly, but I think it would fix the issue

  • Unfortunately, even the most intelligent people reproduce and advocate the wasteful western way of life. Good idea on paper, not so good in practice.

  • so your solution is more law?who would decide the requirements for said IQ test, and people that fall below that test guildlines then wouldnt be able to have children because someone said they cant. its a ridiculous idea.society grows more and more aware by generation. PRS is all i see happening here. the entire world population can comfortably fit inside the state of texas.population control is designed by globalist misanthropes its a true crime against humanity.

  • well maybe not a solution, (though that's how selection works in natural world) but one can dream right? "true crime against humanity" , i dont know, but i kind of see humanity itself is a true crime against the whole world.. i am a negative person, i guess.

  • i like this one idea for the population control, which is education and empowerment of women. might work. because China thing is kind of not working out.

  • of course you like the idea of empowerment of women. You are a woman.

  • i dont think that's why. i read about this idea in this one book and the author was a man, btw. countries where over-population is an issue are countries where women are not educated and have very little rights.

  • Ofcourse women should have rights, just like men. But thats something different than empowering them, like some kind of positive discrimination.

  • no-no, i dont think you get it, having rights is having power.

  • interpretation

  • No need for the sheeple to know about our Richard, just stock up on supplies guys and dig in :-)

  • The most important topic in modern geo-politics and only 334 views.I guess Richard Heinberg can't compete with Howard Stern prank calls on youtube. Were doomed.Blow that dust of your Bible and start reading it - we are headed toward major warfare.

  • Most people when you talk about peak oil say we are not running out of oil. That is true we will not run out of oil in the near future. Now the bad news the world can not produce enough oil to meet demand.Sadly this is not going to change no matter where you drill for oil.Truth is just not enough to meet demand. We could have addressed our oil needs 30 years ago.Maybe even made plans to convert from a oil only economy.Guess what we did nothing now its too late...

  • This is a the point that most people aren't getting. Peak Oil for instance, doesn't mean that we will run out of oil, it means that the oil resource will stop expanding. This is the very foundation of our modern economy. Another frightening thought is that the Great Depression ended largely because of the creation of the oil economy. What's going to save us this time? Harvesting comets? No. How about: dealing with reality.
