Jessye Norman has a great beautiful voice and this piece is so lovely. It seems like it would be suited to a lighter lyric French singer's voice but Jessye does a marvelous job with it. Her French is quite good (she sang Bizet's Carmen and Cassandra in Berlioz Les Troyens). Her voice is large, rich, dark, expressive, beautiful...what a jewel

This was a real treat. What a beautiful charming song. Jessye Norman's lyric voice is gorgeous in French. I didn't know she could sing intimate small songs like this. It was a delightful surprise. This is like something Elisabeth Schwarzkopff would sing - very operetta-ish
