  • Nope. Still prefer Japanese animation...

  • This looks very...unusual.

  • Ponyo?

  • &_& NEED. ENGLISH. SUB!!!!!!!

  • i wanna know who said that Anime is the only type of animation out there, there is to be enjoyed. If any country or culture who has a story worth telling then i say thier free to do so, even in the form of cartoon. This field is not reserved to the specific rights of Japan, and BUMP any who thinks otherwise

  • the only thing i didnt get about this movie was that flying... talking... tub

  • i havent read many comments on here, i myself havent seen this movie but i ask that nobody spoil anything, be respectful

  • @BusanHotSummerDays

Dude, I love Anime and I think this South Korean looks good.

  • @BusanHotSummerDays

Um, anime isn't a solely Japanese thing. There's plenty of examples of anime outside of Japan, like America's Avatar: The Last Airbender or France's Code Lyoko. Also, TokyoPop, a well-known English manga publisher, has provided translated versions of several manhwa (Korean) manga as well as English and Japanese.

    Anime is universal.

  • @BerrySubs

That depends on which definition of anime you use. In Japan, anime is just short for animation, style or country of origin doesn't matter. However, english speakers use the word to refer to japanese animation, NOT animation from any other country. Yes many japanese cartoons share a similar style, but that's not what makes it anime. Avatar is influenced by this common style, but not anime by english speakers definition, but yes by Japan, but Japan would consider Aladdin anime.

  • f.uck me . the design is absolutely sublime. it is refreshing. you can tell its not japanese . it is very edgy, innovative and captivating.

  • Wtf, Gundaaam!1!

  • This film was awesome, I loved it <3

  • oh dear god

    that was amazing!!!

    =]

  • Only cartoons from Japan are anime, this is Korean Animation. This is NOT Studio Ghibli. Look up Studio Ghibli and "Yobi the Five Tailed Fox" will not be listed. It is quite obvious that it isn't. You can always tell by the Eyes.

  • Nope, thisis a korean animated origional. full length animated feature. Your right, not anime :) though the lines are blured since some american companies are claiming to make "anime" now even though its totally american produced.

  • Exactly!

  • Comment removed

  • cannot* in the italian line

  • OK, just for the record I am far from ignorant. Korean Manga is Manwha, and Korean Anime is called Han-guk Manhwa Aenimeisyeon. There are major differences in Korean Animation and Japanese Animation. That comment was made a year ago, and since then I have been a little more immersed in Anime and Manga. So yeah, Korea can make an Anime, but this is not. Sorry I offended you. Please forgive me for my indifference.

  • There is English subbed versions. Just google it :)

  • this looks good, do you know if there is an english dubbed version or a subbed version??

  • This film is just gorgeous. :3

  • if anyone knows a website tht has the same type of movies as this one plz pm me.

  • ya i got this anime it was so good and it was so touch that in the end i cry until my eyes and nose turn red1

  • Korea makes anime?! Holy cow! Finally! Real Anime from a place other than freaking Japan! This looks awesome! (Looks like something that Miyazaki and Studio Gibly would make though)

  • mmmm...i dunno. I dont mean to rain on ur parade...and i AM korean...but i hate to admit that most of the korean animation movies are NOT as good as the ones from japan -_- I mean...there are one or two...but aside from that...not so good. I mean...i saw this movie and thought it was a little too childish...but thats just my opinion. hehheh well since it WAS intended for kids, i guess it did its purpose.

  • yeah, Korea makes anime.

though, I can't agree with your Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli comment, though

  • Korean made animation is not anime. Anime is suppose to be Japanese animation from the studio creator. But some of the Korean helps Japanese to develope to draw anime. I've been watched at the cast & crew part of the Naruto movies, One Piece & Bleach original japanese

  • i love korean people whom are so kind, and making good movies.i havent seen this one but i guess it's good.

  • Love this movie so much..... I love the part when Yobi tried to save her beloved from the Canava, a place where a soul takes a rest by sacrifed herself... OMG!!!... I really cry for that part... Really is a good movie... Must watch yorrr...!!!

  • aww i wanna see this film it looks cute :D

  • Every Studio gibli film in one good luck to them, I'll buy it.

  • This is STUDIO GIBLI ?

    I don't think so ...

  • no its not its something close looking.

  • Uhhhh no. This is NOT Studio Ghilbi. Just because they both have detailed backgrounds does not make them the same. For crying out loud, the character models are completely different.

  • ╔╗╔═╦╗

    ║╚╣║║╚╗

╚═╩═╩═╝ , the space ship has legs..

  • This HAS to come state-sode or I'm learning Korean! Or....waiting till it gets subbed on youtube...

  • ummm, can anyone tell me if that voice for the girl is that main character from MY GIRL

  • aaaww i wanna see it so badly now lol.... I love manhwa

  • weird character designs, looks more like cartoon. Hopefully there's a good korean (manhwa) that rivals japanese anime.

  • Why does it have to rival Japanese anime? Can't it just be good in it's own right? Besides, Korea is too busy trying to mimic Japanese anime. They should come up with their own artistic style. Pixar and Disney re-invent their look constantly and make no effort to look like Japanese anime.

  • Manhwa and Manga has differences. People just mis-judge because of the big eyes. You should read the book "How to draw Manhwa" and they have a section to distinguish Korean and Japanese animation

Korea Animation is a mixture of American and Japanese animation and it shows.

  • @filofilm is this korean because the art doesnt remind me anything of japanese manga or anime that has been made for the past 30 years. trust me i watch some old series

  • @MugenYomi Yes, it is Korean. In what ways do you feel it varies from Japanese anime? I ask not as a challenge but in hopes of seeing it differently on my end. I am more than happy to be wrong. I know Korea has the capabilities to do some innovative animation... I just haven't seen it.

  • @filofilm is this north or south korean?

  • @nejitenfan hahahahahaha really?...

  • @nejitenfan South Korean.

  • @filofilm If you watch it, it's art style is more akin to Aachi & Ssipak than any Japanese animation I can come up with. Its not so much a fundamental difference, but merely a change in culture/style, like you would see in French animation, or American animation. Korean Animation isn't going to be leaps and bounds different than Japan, since they are closely related nations, but you will see subtleties.

  • @Peranolde Copy that. I just got the movie, so I'll be checking it out this weekend.

  • @Peranolde Checked it out. Liked it a lot and see your point in style. Excited to see where the Korean animation industry can go with this. Still feel they can venture into some uncharted territory and open some eyes.

  • @filofilm avatar: the last air bender cough cough!! except avatar is good even though it is an anime-poser. who cares who's trying to look like what? it can still be good.

  • @xviolentphilx I agree; Good is good. And when I criticize Korean animation for trying to be too much like Japanese animation, it is because I know they have the talent and resources to do more and stand on their own. Art evolves. And this is an art form. So one can either be a part of leading the evolution or one can let others take the chances and follow their success. Korea doesn't have to follow.

On a side note, I can't believe it's been two years since I posted my original comment...

  • @filofilm

i would blame korean entrepreneurs instead of korean animation. i guess that things are changing...but slooooooowly.

in spain when we try to make disney-like animation we fail. but when we try to do our own thing, we succeed. have you watched nocturna?

we also failed when trying to do japanese anime: gisaku.

  • @nerdotron Certainly Korea needs to find good entrepreneurial skills if they want to keep up.

  • Comment removed

  • @YuneShik that is true, and has been true for a very long time. But the character designs and style of animation is most often predetermined by the Japanese or American animation studio. And in many cases the Korean animation company primarily does the inbetween frames after being supplied the key frames. Has that allowed the Korean Animation Industry to grow... most likely. But it isn't supporting original concepts and designs.

  • @filofilm Yeah I suppose. Also however, something else to note is that animation isn't popular in Korea as it is for Japan and America, because Korea prides itself in K-dramas and cinemas(real-life movies). Heck, Japan even makes history animes. And U.S. humor differs vastly from Korean(Simpsons, Futurama, etc).

So in a way, I guess it would be interesting if Korea becomes more interested and decides to flourish further into the animated world. I guess culture plays quite a huge role.

  • Comment removed

  • @filofilm japanese animation also started by doing US inbetweens.

  • @nerdotron Not really, Toei was making animated movies going back into the 1950's all by themselves.

  • There are a few. But they're hard to find.
