@photographerireland I'm glad people read these things and take the time to reply. You're entitled to your opinion that what we call Bullies are all fat short useless etc. It's true for the most part but not entirely. I like my so called Bullies short, big boned, wide, and far from useless. They're still dogs and I love them as such. You might think it's the opposite direction for the breed but it's just a different direction.

@txi0 I understand and I thank you for making a comment without a verbal attack of swear words and insults, But you must admit the Bullie's being produced could not compete with the breed as it should be in any field, fighting (which i do not agree with) weight pulling, springpole, even a good trek in the countryside or a long brisk walk? so what you end up with is a dog with a lesser quality of life because he's too short and wide to have more fun, it's unfair to the dog bred to please your eye

@photographerireland I do agree that AMBullies are at a major disadvantage when it comes to what the APBT was purposely bred for. Any dog that is fat, overweight, and, out of shape will get tired easily. It's not breed specific. For the most part they are a designer dog with little purpose other than to be a companion. As far as quality of life goes. Everyone has their own opinion. If the dog in question is loved and taken care of. That's good enough for me.

@txi0 I agree that any overweight ouf of shape dog would get tired, but that problem can be resolved with a good diet and some regular exercise, when a dog is intentionally bred to be so squat nothing can be done to improve it's agility or stamina, I agree it can still be a friendly pet But it's going to have a life much more limited that if it would be if the dog was bred as it was originally.

It cannot be a good thing for the dog if his lifestyle is curbed because of his physical make up.

@TehMadMoves yeah, "street bullies." Very far off from the breed standard of either the APBT or Amstaff - and when taken to extremes (ie. Gottiline), causes health problems because they're breeding in mutations such as SUCH a stockier build, bowed legs, too wide of a chest etc. Mainly bred by idiot thugs who want a big "scary" status symbol. Fact is most these dogs have breathing/mobility problems, and are much less scary than their PROPERLY bred cousins.

ABKC started up in 2004 and all of their dogs that they want to call "bully" have the same pedigree as my dog. How can we all have the same pedigree and call the dogs different.

@69blackone That's great - but I'm just saying that these are not APBT, Staffies or Amstaffs - and should not be called so. One reason why everyone thinks "pitbulls" have a high bite rate is because there are MANY breeds which people refer to as "pitbulls," ie - these bullies, apbts, staffies, amstaffs, argentinian french and italian mastiffs, alapaha blue blood bulldogs, american bulldogs etc - and the true APBT breed takes the fall for it because people don't realize that these are different

@69blackone breeds or types what have you. And the Boston Terrier comes from the same lines as the APBT, and they are mighty mighty different. The APBT also comes from the Mastiff - different dogs, different breeds, different standard temperament.

@69blackone And one more thing - my mastiff X Amstaff is about 80lbs when he's really bulky, and like I said in my first post these puppies don't seem all that bad - I was referring to the "street bullies" that people, as you've said, have taken too far in breeding for the stocky/muscle builder look. a 95lb "pitbull," as you said yours is, isn't as genetically mutated as the over 100+lb ones I'm talking about

@pittielove We are on the same page!! I know what the breed standard is but I know that I have always owned "large" pitbulls. I was born in 1970 and have always had pits. I loved them all but when I saw a pit when I was 10 with a huge head, I was hooked. I love the dog I have now but as i said people are taking it too far and it is up to these registries to do something. My 95lb male DNA tested as pit, I wish there was a better way of bringing my breed together.
