I'm not sure where you are from but here in California, anything '75 and older doesn't require a yearly or every other year inspection. And I haven't gotten pulled over for and have had cops behind me numerous times.
Nice engine swap choice with the vk. THAT is something I'd love to see. You on ratsun.net? Theoretically I could be sent to a smog shop but I don't have to smog it on my own every two years. I believe anything '66 and older are completely off the hook.
