Watching this video triggered a long-buried memory for me.
I was only a kid when "The Professionals" was burning up TV screens, but even so, was drawn to Martin Shaw for some reason. At the time, I had an illustrated book of Shakespeare's plays for children; and since he had done some theatre work, I developed childish fantasies about reading to him from the book while he listened.
I'd forgotten about that, but it suddenly came back. So thank you, Anja, for recharging the old memory bank.
That is surely a very sweet memory, thank you for sharing.
I have to admit that these days I wish Martin Shaw would read to me and I wouldn't be be too picky about what he reads.....he could read the London telephone book to me and I'd still be smitten by his voice.
**sighs**
Ah well, at least my mp3player is full with MS interviews and audiobooks :-)
Anja -- I take it that "Wuthering Heights" is among your list of audiobooks? I've always wanted to get my mittens on that.
Trying to remember more about the days when I wanted to read to Martin Shaw -- memory hazy after all these years -- but I do recall wanting to be Miranda to his Prospero, just so that I could lean close and look up at him in wonder.
Sheesh, just stumbled over that one via the Pros Newsletter. How the hell could I have missed it??? Great vid - I love it. Tough as nails our Ray. Well done!
