I wonder how people get such high dBs to hit 153dB @ 1m, It takes 200,000 watts through 100dB efficiency speakers. Does the confinements of a car mean that doubling amp power causes an increase of MORE than 3dB, by the fact that as the woofers flex more, they are compressing the air in the car more and increasing their loading efficiency compared to outdoors where the speakers would get no where near as high numbers.
yup, my teammate plays around 150~ and i'v been inside his car while he have played (he is all the time when he compete) and nothing happens. However, cars that compete in the extreme class, that are 160+ is where it gets dangerouc because it interferes with your heart rythm (and yeah, you basically get a stroke). Was at a competetion this weekend, where the new world records was set (By a swedish dude) 176.5
If you would have been inside the car by that time, you would have died - so hard! xD
whatuknowabouthoe, in this movie you see a man with i think it are, 4 18" and he had made 153 db, than your friend would never get as close as 150 db's...
The Threshold of discomfort is 120 dBSPL, The threshold of pain is 130 dBSPL, This crazy Fucker is Deaf, remember kids, always wear protection !! wheather it's on your dick or in your ears.
Actually 194 is the loudest possible on land. After that it's possible to be louder, but the decompression of every sound wave will drop to 0 and "clip", so you can have 194 db's+ on land, you just can't have a louder perfect sine wave.
WOW I am going to have to correct this. look it up on wikipedia if you wish it is also on there I do believe. Every 3db is double. so 143 is twice as loud as 140. 146 is 4 times as loud as 140. 149 is approx 8 times. it is roughly 10 times as loud for every 10 db. 160 is 100 times louder than 140. and 170 is 1,000 times. That is why I hate when people are like dawg my boy is hitting 140 so I must be hitting like 220. I am like omg...
damage can actualy start to happen in tissue at 140 db. Yet it takes a while. Long term exposure, the compressive and frequency affects on himans can hurt them. It only takes a few close bombs to go off in Bagdad to mess with the brain tissue. Guys are comming home with some memory loss from just a few close bombs, not to mention ears blown. Like boxers it takea time to get damage.
my suv? its a mercury mountaineer, i dont really have a special name for it, its been referred to as "that loud thing" before, any suggestions for a name?

his ears might not be bleeding, but I guess some of the orgens were damaged.

153 wont do much other than some slight disorientation, and coughing/tingling chest if the frequencies are low (30hz-ish).
Dont have to worry about real damage for another 10dB at least.

it does affect your heart after 160DB and can causing a arrhythmia that will stop your heart causing a heart attack not a stroke.

if you hit 194 in a car it would blow the car up because it creates a shock wave
kingadaboom 2 years ago
Heck yeah, and @ 30 Hz, it would be 30 shockwaves per second! 194 db's would be far beyond insane bass.
31Orcas 2 years ago 2
194 dB would cause a force of + or - 10tonnes peak per square metre from the sound pressure.
TimpBizkit 2 years ago
Actually its higher
finnnzl242 3 years ago 3
i thought you get disqualified from not having hearing protection after 140 db?!?!?
elmerfudpucker 4 years ago
3 dB = double the signal level. Also low frequencies still damage your hearing, air pressure still pushes down the nerve hairs in your inner ear.
shadowoftears21 4 years ago
low-frequency sounds will not damage your hearing...

No, They will just blur your vision, then cause chest pain, etc... LMAO

Yeah, the more decibels, the higher the SPL level 9sound pressure level)

ShaggyD808 3 years ago
ok since none of you know exactly here it is... if you double your electrical signal you add 3dB if you double the actual sound its 10dB. ok.
thetaterwedge 4 years ago
its 10dB is double. 150dB is twice as loud as 140dB. at least thats what one of the more experienced masters of car electronics taught me in school.

it will also make your ears bleed and take the air out of your lungs due to massive air displacement

mosesposes 4 years ago
wat ppl dont realise is that 3db equates to doubleling the intensity.. 153db is 4 times louder than 140db..
