  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

  • I also write and draw while listening to Joanna. Weird, huh?

  • she seems really nervous:(

poor girl, deserves more credit, the delivery of her voice is beautiful, distinct, unique, and at the same time sends shivers down your spine (in a good way)

It's great how she brings something new to the table

  • I forgot how much I hate this song. Not saying its bad or nobody should like it, but I cant stand it.

  • Every time I watch/listen to this, and hear the idiot screaming "I love you", it makes me want to punch the guy and cringe at the same time.

  • @taterules1 I found this comment strangely amusing. Thank you xD

  • not too mention she even looks creepy while singing

  • @kristenwengerd to* you fucking retard.

  • her voice gives me the heebie-jeebies

  • "child-witch voice" EXACTRY!

  • People actually like this? Wtf??

  • Love this. She reminds me of The Sundays or some Kate Bush.

  • I love her amazing lyrics. Talk about story telling! However, her voice just kind of strikes me in all the wrong ways.

  • This song always makes me wish for more colour in my life. Lots & lots of colourful balloons.

  • I like to listen to this song whenever I'm writing one of my stories...

It's so soothing, and I can feel like the mood of an adventure.

    It's beautiful.

  • @andiwontbesaved I write fiction while listening to miss Newsom too. Funny.

  • i like björk too

  • wtf?

  • The jackass that yells "I love you" annoys me.

I think it's hilarious that she ignored him.

  • Joanna was recommended to me by a friend who has fine taste in music. I can remember being incredibly disappointed as I listened. I thought it was a joke. But for some odd reason I kept listening. Her style is hypnotic. Along the way, she rewired my ears. I just put her on now and can't get her off. Away she goes with that relentless harp and eccentric child-witch voice and I'm paralysed. Can she cast spells? I think she must be in a category of her own. The best - and only - one of her kind.

  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? She's all sweet and stuff and then that voice...

  • With my German boy face, and her Ukrainian girl good looks, we would make a real handsome couple!

Too bad it wouldn't work out; I'm tone deaf.

  • This really isn't as awful as everyone wants to think it is.

  • I love her<3

  • terrible

  • i'm so sick of everybody hating on joanna newsom. if you don't like her then don't click the video. and if you must click it then don't complain.

  • @andykndr me 2!!!!

  • Sounds like the vocal halfway point between Lisa Simpson and a dying cat!

    Makes Bjork sound normal!!!

  • Why does this have over 200 dislikes? Seriously.

  • heh i love harp players fingerwork, makes us guitarists look like n00bs

  • i bet she gives mean hanjobs

  • @CreamyChordzMusic Took me a while to get that. I thought: "how could such a demeaning comment get so many thumbs up?" But it's actually pretty funny.

  • I love you, Miss Newsom

  • I love this song and I don't even really listen to this kind of music. I see it more as art rather than just a song because it has such a unique sound. Just my opinion. Don't attack me

  • @ReezyBaby619 I agree. The lyrics are really great and she has such a way of delivering them. I mean, she really puts adventure into her songs. It's really soothing, yet awfully inspiring and cheery. It puts a smile on my face.

  • marry me!!!!!!!!!

  • She's simply ADORABLE. I had to find out who sung this after I heard it on the T-mobile commercial lol. It actually made me laugh, but it was just too cute...I never heard someone with a sound like this =D

  • It's weird... I can't picture that voice coming out of that girl, but at the same time, I can't picture anyone else that fits that voice better then her.

  • For everyone saying she's shit, that's fine. It's your opinion. But it doesn't seem very educated or open minded to me.

Joanna is amazing. I love her so much. And this is one of my favorite songs.

  • I stand by what I always say about this woman. Her voice is an aquired taste. But a mindblowing one of course! I will ask people to take a moment and listen through the exterior which slaps any singing teacher around the face. If you've ever heard expression at it's purest form, this truly is it.

  • Lmao! She can't sing. At all. But her harp playing skills are awesome!

  • @alexis13ization she actually can! she's perfectly in tune, it's just her style of singing is hard to get used to. i'm used to it and i love it! and yeah she's brilliant on the harp!

  • It sounds like complete horse shit!

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4

it does to youre ears ?

to bad you cant enjoy and apriciate things outside of youre musical box, wich i asume is quite small !

  • @mraonda it's very predictable how a guy named GibsonGuitarFreak4 would speak as if literally! his ass was his mouth

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4 how does horseshit sounds, really?

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4

couldn't have said it better myself!

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4 mmm and you've heard horse shit have you? what did it say to you?

  • @ThePeacefulSkye it told me to check out this song

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4 might want to get checked out yourself if you talk to horse shit and it talks back

  • @ThePeacefulSkye maybe its because i listened to it, thats why i should get myself checked out

  • @GibsonGuitarFreak4 just go talk to more horse shit and stop insulting joanna your wasting your life!

  • if u hit 1 over and over it looks like shes dancing lol

  • what an amazing lady!

  • She's great! :D

  • @paliss06

    She's grating!

  • This is infinitely better than the album version.

Her voice is much more natural...the harp is much more lively.

  • @valkyrio meh. I tend to like album versions better because they are edited to be awesome.

  • @thor123422 so do I, but if you listen to the harp in the album its crap - and her voice is obviously strained and forced in the album version as well.

  • this is amazing :D

  • i really love the lyrics. they're cute.

  • This isn't Lisa Simpson?

  • I don't like it. Sounds like a mental cat being beat.

  • great voice.

  • I could just watch her hands for hours

  • Congratulations, Miss Newsom. You somehow became an inspiration for the Portal 2 soundtrack.

  • Rebecca Black has competition! lol

  • @verynice420 who is rebecca black?

  • @SecretAgentKeara another bad singer

  • @verynice420 lol

  • @verynice420 Rebecca Black is in competition with the likes of Justin Beiber.

Joanna Newsom is in competition with the likes of Sufjan Stevens.

You are in competition with Steve-O, and right now he's winning.

  • @smokyp3nguin Im in competition with Bruno

  • does this remind anyone else of kria brekkan?

  • Ha! Trolls beware commenting here!

The intellectual and witty frequent this place....

Some of these comments are just funny...

  • @Termonatorm5

    Except this one.

  • Ahh...

Had a bad day yesterday and didn't sleep a wink.

    Listened to this.

This song repeating all day in my head, I aced a test and impressed my lady. Hard to do, both of them.

This is a haunting tune. A lovely, wonderful, memorable song.

I love it. So very much. Joanna, I cannot express how much this song brightens my day.

  • this song is so lucky charms

  • Red looks nice on her. I like it that she sings as she does.

  • OMG, she's adorable! :)

  • why bother trying to perfect when they are people in the world like joanna newsome?

  • pure talent!

  • Oh, my love for Joanna, oh it is a funny little thing.

  • I love this song! too adorable. It makes me so happy everytime i hear it!!!!

  • i love this, this song relax's me so much, i love her, she's my role model

  • you know the voice sounds really funny at first but the more you listen to her the more you really do enjoy it.

  • uh...why not just listen to bjork?

  • @trufiend138 Because they each wrote different songs. One is not the other.

  • Oh hey Bjork.

  • I prefer her voice live. I think she sounds a little odd in studio recording, but she sounds like an angel here.

  • beautiful. angels do land on earth.

  • WHAT THE HELL?!?!

  • @Yermom74725 LOL.

  • this song makes me wanna buy a boat and have an adventure with a beautiful girl

  • this is the worst singing ive ever heard, wow.

  • @ExitStageWrong You've obviously not heard many people sing, then. There is MUCH worse out there. Besides, I like her voice, but that's my opinion.

  • Thought it was Lisa Simpson singing on a T-Mobile commercial.

  • What an absolute goddess she is.

Comrade Samberg is a lucky man is he not?

  • @rephaim23 no. she is lucky to date him. not the other way around. she isn't bad, but i hate her because she is dating him

  • @13bilbobaggins

And I hate him because he is dating the fairest baryshnya.

  • @rephaim23 i entirely disagree. but whatever floats ur boat.

  • @whiteej21 - it was a joke lol. I actually just assumed you made a typo or something. As a linguistics student, I know mistakes can happen.

erhaps you should look up sarcasm and irony. Sarcasm is actually a form of irony but I wasn't being sarcastic anyway. Sarcasm is when you say the opposite of what you mean as a joke. I never did that.

  • @whiteej21 - "If you had a real argument, other than being an offended hipster. You would say I generalized about hipsters"

This statement is the most annoyingly patronising thing I've heard in a while.

Also, considering you're a "poet", to not realise that the first part of the statement isn't a well formed sentence is pretty shameful.

See what I did there? I successfully patronised someone over a patronising statement. Gotta love irony.

  • @whiteej21 - I'm not saying you are generalising about hipsters. You aren't. Hipsters are like that. However, my argument was that you were generalising about Joanna Newsom fans, the vast majority of which are not hipsters, just genuine fans of her music. If you look at my channel, you'll realise I'm not an "offended hipster". I don't like everything that isn't mainstream, just as I don't hate everything that is. I am willing to give everything a try though, as everyone should.

  • i did a dance to this song...me and my friend did a duet. and i totally agree with all of u

  • how about if u like her then like her dont explain urself just enjoy her music cuz im about 100% sure she could careless if u like it or not she loves what she does and thats what matters to her

  • @EatsYourBabies Actually, she's gone on record numerous times that she hates the fact people thinks she sounds like a child.

She's an immature brat is what I say! Nautical nonsense gibberish da doo!

  • @whiteej21 - you are telling people why they are fans of something. I am a fan of Joanna and it's certainly not because I am a hipster. I'm sure that's the same for almost all fans of her. You are just making these comments to make yourslef look wise and knowledgeable about society and music. You seem to rank yourself above what you determine to be hipsters. You are pretentious. Now, how does that assumption make you feel?

  • @whiteej21 - hipsters may be borderline pretentious but you're borderline patronising. Sorry.

  • @whiteej21 Typical things are boring. Call it being "hip," or subversive, or artsy...Paintings of ladscapes in hotels are fine paintings, but how much more interesting to see a clock melting?

  • She's ethereal, beautiful and authentic. If you don't like her, go listen to Hannah Montana...

  • Onewaystop - your so right. She is so unique and doesn't need all the glitz and glamour. She's not making music to be famous, its much more then that.

  • I love how she smiles when she plays in the beginning

I dont know, something so cute and modest about it

  • This is just SHITE!!!!

    She sounds like Lisa Simpson!!!

  • I hate how so many people are putting down pop music. I'm a classically violinist and violist. i love Joanna Newsom. i also love Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, etc. It's all music. Learn to love it for just being there :)

  • pretty face, pretty harp, okay lyrics, weird "singing" voice.....you may have your opinion that she's the next Mozart, but I personally think she's not gifted in singing, and this song is disturbing and weird. she does play the harp very well, so don't attack me for simply putting my thoughts out there. :)

  • im sorry but when i heard the LG commercial it sounded like shit

  • @stormercody really? i liked the lg commercial a tad bit better it sounded more smooth to me

  • really talented........what genre of music is this tho

  • @gringo5

    It's Joanna.

  • @KaiOfArrows it's folk music

  • Beautifull

  • with fade as maleable as clay </3

  • @PrincessBrieana who said anything about her being with the Illuminati, lol?

  • like this more than the recorded version.

  • I love this song. Her talent is pure and the lyrics are incredible. Her song writing is on a totally different level. Beautiful.

  • I love her confidence

  • When I first heard her voice, it intrigued me! It was so lovely to hear something beside the autotuned crap on the radio. When I got more acustomed to her vocal style I absolutly loved it. If flowers could sing, they would sound like Joanna :D

  • VWEEEEEE SAILED AWVYAY ON A VWINGERS DAYYYYYY

  • I like the way he voice sounds, but she looks retarted when she sings it, no offense lady.

  • @cocoapuffs4569 If you are going to be ignorant enough to use the term "retarded" in a derogatory manner, you should perhaps learn to spell it.

  • Very pretty.

  • absolutely beautifully unique.

  • Thank you, Joanna!

Your music touches me so profoundly. Your fragile, defenceless, honest, open voice is so refreshing it brightens up even the darkest night. Keep up the good work, we need artists like you to show us the way.

  • @cephalicus I'm sure she'll read that and reply asap

  • This reminds me of my childhood

  • so talented. so hot. so *want*

  • this is a real example of true american talent. this goes to show that if the U.S. puts it's mind to anything they could sell whatever they want to the world, we could put shit on a platter and sell it to other nations and they would think it's the greates thing in the world. in truth this girl's voice is a little different but american talent prevails over everything. i wonder how many people will not finish reading my comment and talk shit to me. bring on the idiotic comments, hahaha.

  • @kripazznigga211 i ment to add, "i know this girl's not american". LMAO. fail on my part. BIG ASS FAIL. hahahaha. tolling denied. lol.

  • @kripazznigga211. you've managed to make absolutley no sense. fail.

  • @theBIGGESTmidgetz yup. lol.

  • @kripazznigga211 She is American.

  • Joanna newsom is much more attractive than any mainstream music female

  • i can dig this... i love stuff that is off the wall... good stuff yo

  • This kinda of situation makes me so angry this woman with such an amazing voice and talent isnt as well known as lady gag who by the way has the vocal range of a peanut and has no real talent so Joanna should have a song in he top 10 but since our society has absolutely no taste in music anymore lady gaga does and again tht makes me mad

  • I love this song...i think her voice can move the soul this is real music from the heart...and that my friends CANNOT BE HATED ON. SHAME ON YOU!!!

  • I love her voice ((: I thought it was alittle kid but when I heard this I was like :O <3

  • you guys need to shut the hell up. seriously shut up. shes beautiful. in every way possible. her music, her voice, her looks. shes unique. her music is like no other. and she doesnt care what people think. so stop discriminating. you dont have to like her music, no ones forcing you. but show some respect for this girl.

  • Wow She kind of looks like Justin Thomas Merrell!

  • I am not comparing her voice to the trash on a lot of radio stations these days. I would like to say that although her voice is "different" as you guys choose to put it, she has still made it this far. I find this very inspirational seeing as how a lot of people tell me I have a good voice, but I do not plan on distorting it with autotuning.

  • She kinda looks like Julia Stiles.

  • Her voice just creeps me out, not like it's so amazing how is it that good, but that's just a weird sound, not really pleasant

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

  • With respect to musical / vocal talent, she is a diamond in the rough.

  • This song reminds me of the Oregon coast for some reason.

  • It is not funny to make fun of the mentally handicapped. I give her credit for making progress through her disabilities.

  • Hahaha....We have a running joke that the only way this voice achievable is if you hit a little boy in the throat with a bat.

Also, she has beastly neck muscles, i bet she gives the best head.

Also+, Her harp playing is great.

  • Cair Paravel.. thats the castle from Narnia :)

  • She's refreshing. Its honest music, pure and dignified and true. It isn't created by a room full of industry execs looking for the next 'American Idol.' Read her bio - she was raised on classical music. I love her voice, its unique without having to be forced into some kind of mold to sound like everyone else and sold as "unique." Her lyrics are smart, sweet, sometimes sad, but poetic and very, very real. And no T's-and-A's-in-your-face videos... no need when the artist is true.

  • She's pure musical talent; a harpist, a singer, a songwriter. She's got actual talent and doesn't want/need to beg attention with flashing breasts, thighs, Madonna-like sexual slutishness or blond curly locks, Her talent is all she offers. Let the talentless sluts and pretty faces dominate the headlines. I'll take this lady's talent any day.

  • @OneWayStop Hey now, I love Joanna Newsom as much as the next person, but don't knock Madonna. Listen to Don't Cry for Me, Argentina (or just watch all of Evita) and you'll see she's way more than some sexualised musician getting by on looks. Maybe some other artists seem too, but Madonna certainly does not.

  • @OneWayStop Shut up. Comments like this take away from the vid. Watch the shit, say she is cute and go somewhere else.

  • @OneWayStop but.. she is pretty... but she doesnt over play that. and thats awesome.

  • @OneWayStop I just heard it on the radio and I was astonished.

I'm very hapy that I heared it.

She is a miracle made true.

  • @OneWayStop she is also very pretty

  • @OneWayStop And yet, when called upon, she DOES have tremendous conventional sex appeal...I'd like to submit as evidence the music video for the band MGMT's video for the song "Kids"...she's the horrified baby's mom. SMOKIN'
