Its my own prejudice to be honest. I think that Locke is given to much credit for his effect on the structure for the American govt. He wrongly out shadows Montesquieu and Rousseau. And if the general public knew more about the last two I believe our country would be in much better standings. Especially if more new of Montesquieu's statement that the people should not fear their government but the government should fear its people.
