Actually, I was wrong...it's a Mooger Fooger ring modulator, as stated in the Erotic Cakes album booklet.

@underagedpickle It's definitely his guitar with modulation or his whammy bar. Otherwise, a synthesizer could make the sound, but seeing as there's no synth anywhere else in the track, it's unlikely.

@friggetyfuck Contrary to popular belief, it isn't actually half time. It's a bit more complex, and hard to explain. If you imagine that the bit before 2:02 is in triplets (it's not, but just imagine - and i mean the whole pulse and all, so if it was written on paper there would be a big 3 under it all and stuff), and then at 2:02 he stops playing the groove in triplet notes and plays a normal groove in quavers... i think that's what happens.
