In the weeks leading up to this the rumors on him going to WWE were everywhere. SO it worked in that way. There were some who thought he would not return to TNA ever again

Then WWE was trying to sign Sting...they had just signed Booker T/Nash. The original promo was created to build up Sting vs. Taker WM28 but since he didnt sign they gave it to Taker..and then TNA creative copied it to make ppl watch TNA, which was a smart idea imo.

If this was real, they would say isn't it amazing that a 52 year old guy is world champion (or was as is now the case). You get the feeling TNA management would rather we all thought Sting was at least 10 years younger and it was the late 1990s.
