Folks, you could call it pacman, a very simplified version of Dune 1 and no evolution at all put together as a 2008 full price game.

spore was one of the biggest dissapointments for me in gaming.. i don't get what you people see in it.. the idea of evolution is great and the creative thing, sure amazing, but when you look at it, all you get in spore are five minigames.. it's a typical example of a great idea driven by a half assed motive.. think about how awesome this game would have been if sid meiers took care of it.. and the cartoony cherrysweet bullshit? wtf.. makes me want to fucking vomit..

no, because you can't explain it. it's E because if they tried to make a serious game it would get slaughtered. if this game had the gameplay and strategy of civilization or even half the story telling and costumizing of any rpg it would have been an amazing game. maxis says they didn't make a game like that cause they didn't "want to" they couldn't. they spent what, 5 years making that fucking game? and THIS is the result? fuck gore, this game is more minimalized than a free flash game

I paid I think 40$ or 50$ for the game and it was completely worth it, I was just saying that everyone says it sucks because of the stages and cartoonish graphics and stuff when clearly Maxis designed the game to reach out to people who don't play hardcore games like Halo or Call of Duty and who don't play lots of games. Ive been an avid Video Gamer since the Atari 2600, Ive played a million of games, am a huge fan of all maxis games and games containing creative sandbox environments and I have to say: Spore sucks ass.

It is NOT what it was supposed to be, what we we were made to believe Spore would be by a promotion-juggernaut.

It is a combination of 5 gametypes, each one so dumbed down, a dead labrat would be bored.

Im not even starting about the "3 activations" ripoff.

SimPark, a MaxisKids game has more strategy than this game does. This isn't an opinion. This is a fact. It actually teaches you things about biodiversity. Spore does not do this.

this game is as good as you make it. if you put time in your creations you will most likely have fun, but if your here for the game storyline and just make a creation as fast as you can to get on with the game then it will probably bore you.

Odd that this video review doesn't talk much about the space stage. He got it right in the written review.

Spore's each phase isn't about deep and complex gameplay mechanics. There is a reason for that. If you listen to some of Will Wrights speeches, he is fascinated with how with often very simple rulesets, you can get complex structures or systems.

When you reach the space stage, you see the entire web of evolution and it all finally makes sense and there is a level of complexity in that.
