He is an excellent artist. (probably next Gedda) and I wish him to keep up good work in makeing successfully career . Just wondering why someone with that caliber like him need that crap of Neue Stimmen Competition .
The first performer was Leon Leonov (1813-1862), the son of John Field (yes) and a French singer Charpentier. He debuted as Almaviva in 1833. "Life for the Tzar" premiered in 1936. Glinka himself coached the cast. Leonov is said to have a light, flexible and expressive voice. So Mr. Mironov perhaps is a good match for Glinka's intent. This aria (Sobinin) has 6 high C's (the last one marked "con tutta forza") and 2 high D ftats (marked ppp).
Why would Maxim Mironov perform this aria-because he can...his top and coloratura seem effortless- and for once we find a tenor who sings within his vocal fach.I sure hope in ten years we don't have to read about this tenor's vocal problems because he's singing "Chenier", or "Otello", or something equally ridiculous!Watch out Juan Diego Florez!!!
I cannot agree more with you, It is a shame to me to hear tenors singing what unsuitable roles. I only know of a tenor in the opera history who always sung and kept the roles that he knew where healthy for his voice, the well missed Alfredo Kraus. Hope this Miranov gets good choices and dont bother if his roles aint that comercial, at least thats what his voice is made for.
OK. . .so what do we have to do to get this AMAZING tenor to the USA to show the world that there are leggero tenors who can sing and incorporate chest tones! HE IS AMAZING !@
OMG!!! This is some "serious" singing!!! 22 years old????? Please someone kill me, soon!!! I've heard this audio before, but watching the video blows my head even further!!!! Bravo carajo!!!

He won the competition, of course. Did he? If not, I want to hear the winner!

As far as I know, he didn't. He finished 2nd place, the winner was some counter tenor.

Amazing! The ability to do this at such a youthful age (or at all) is incredible. Great work.
