Thats an issue that Archos should consider fixing if they want more of their customers to enjoy using their products. They should have put the official android marketplace on each of their devices instead of forcing their customers to use their service.
If you go to Amazon and find this product, you can scroll down to the bottom of the product description and it says "Also Available for this Android Device", and you can download Amazon Android App Store! Have you tried this yet, and if you plan to try it, could you try one of the games (something like Fruit Ninja) and tell me how it is? I plan to buy one of these things. They are only 79.99 right now on Amazon.
@PrincessHinata64 All the stuff that says "Available for this Android Device" will not work with this device. I have tried installing many Android apps for this device and none whats so ever had installed or worked. This device has its own market place, keep that in mind, meaning you can only download what Archo's market place offers. I recommend looking at something else. I myself gave up on Android and moved to iOS.
@Jordan21ism Try the passphase, if that doesn't work, then try the long hexadecimal key. Usually the hexadecimal key works. I have WPA2, the archos 28 wouldn't connect unless I downgraded to WEP 128bit encryption. I'm not lowering my security for any device.
@Jordan21ism Yes, I believe you can Youtube off of it. It has built-in wireless card so it will pickup nearby wireless access points for you to connect to. Just make sure to provide any passwords that the networks will ask for if needed.

@saintfullsins Yes, the sound quality isn't the greatest. I had a lot better high quality on the ipod touch 4th gen than any other device I've used for mp3 songs. I usually use 320kbps for the best quality on my music.
@unknown42010 There is an unofficial Android Market Place on the tablet that lets you only download what is available. That being said, you won't be able to download anything from the Official Android Market Place unless you upgrade to the more expensive ones.
@dbludogsta There isn't very many apps for the Archos unless you buy the more expensive ones, that have the official market place. I've used Wifi a few times for Facebook, but the battery just isn't the same as the ipod touch. I like the ipod because it offers a lot more software and the battery is just great.
@mx43racing the appropriate term for it is a minidroid and developers actually use these devices for their projects due to its froyo system stability and price and it still counts as a tablet because it has been released with other gen 8 products.
And I feel like there should be a way to hack it to get the full market. If there is, I think I may be sold (other than the fact that I used all my money for the iPad 2)
@cheezeheads iPad 2 will probably be jailbroken soon just like all the other devices. My Dad wants an iPad 2. I personally don't have a need for one right now. They look awesome. I'd keep the iPad 2. The Archos devices are great, but only if you purchase the higher priced ones. Never settle for less..

@NicoGee1 I really dunno because thats what I thought too until I ran into flash issues and some apps failing on me after an update. I gave up on the Archos. I ended up selling it and then buying a used iPod Touch off Craigslist.

@TitaniumTrooper I dunno about 3 days, maybe 2 days. Depends how much you use it. I recommend lowering the backlight cause my battery drained in less than an hour on full charge and all I did was use wifi internet.
install Android 2.2 FroYo and then gApps4Archos2.apk to get the full Android Google Marketplace. Make sure you install Dolphin Browser so you can view smooth full screen videos.
@samplerman53 Yeah I updated to the 2.2 and I've tried the gApp thing and other ones I found online forums and youtube. Nothing worked. I updated it, messed around for a bit, and then decided to sell it to get my iPod that I miss.
why dont you get froyo its better than 2.1 and im tired of hearing people say stuff about the marketplace lol it so darn easy to get. im going to make a video on that right now

@dufflebagboy73 it has more apps, and you can get every app for free on an ipod touch with installous from cydia from a jailbreak, just google it, you can also run xubuntu and android on the ipod touch...
@librano Thanks me too. Actually its running Android 2.2. I haven't tried rooting it or installing a custom rom. I've been missing my Ipod Touch so i will be go back to that instead.
