  • I'm looking for 2 songs that Gold City sang (along with others) during the late 80's. They are "Saved to the uttermost" and "I can see the hand." They were on a cassette that included "Moving up to Gloryland."

  • I love this so much. Thank you for allowing us to listen and watch you . I can't find a church so this is such a blessing for me......God Bless each and everyone.

  • Amen! Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

  • Praise His Holy Name. Amen.

  • I love this song by Gold city. Does anyone out there have a video of them singing "I Have Seen The Light." I have looked and cannot find it anywhere!

  • just type inGold City...it should give u the songs they sing

  • they song this song at my moms funeral. it was one of the hardest things in my life. they sounded like angels!!!

  • love it

  • One of my favorite gold city songs! I have it on my ipod.

  • Jesus is coming back you better be ready for the midnight cry

  • Comment removed

  • Soon and verry soon

  • I think they sound awesome but tend to agree with you.. they drag it out to far with the time of the song.

  • Beautiful, Beautiful song and one of my favorites. (I only have about 2,000 "favorites") I am ready for that Midnight Cry anytime!

Love to hear Ivan Parker sing this!

  • We sang this song in a national convention and we won first place. This song still brings chill up my spine. I really love this song. Christian songs are still better than other songs.

  • Johnny Parrack, Jr. at his best

  • This was one of my mother's favorite songs. She has gone on to be with Jesus but I know soon God will turn to Jesus and say, "SON, GO GET MY CHILDREN" then we'll have no more pain or tears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a song I love to hear. Never get tired of listening to it. Listen to the words. Jesus will come and we all need to be ready. Good job Gold City. thanks

  • i used to hear this song everyday on the way home from work and i helped so much being the only born again christian there.

  • It sure beats hanging around those skanky old athiest sights

  • Just beautiful. Those men really sing with the holy spirt.

  • Michael English has the best version of this song I've heard.

  • Amen! Michael English just does the version justice. He is the version of today!!!!!

  • Anyone remember in what year they released this song?

Or were they not the first to do it?

  • This is my favourite version of this song. :)

  • Which singer do you think is better at this song: him or Ivan?

  • Jonathan Wilburn (this singer) is just incredible. Sorry Ivan......

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One must understand that when a new member is asked to sing a signature song like this one, one will want to modify it in order to avoid being compared to the original. Also, as voices change, the harmonies changes as well, therefore, one will always try to leave their own touch to it, hoping it will be well received by the listening public.

  • Gold City is the original artist and the original version is great and it's such a great song. When Michael English added his talent to it, it became one of the greatest songs ever!

  • This is definitely one of my fav gold city songs. You can feel the holy spirit when he sings this.

  • This was my grandfather's favorite song..they played it at his funeral on September 8th, 2008...it still gets me

  • How Powerful ! EVERY KNEE WILL BOW EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD !

  • Does anybody have the lyrics?

  • I have to agree. . .Michael is awesome! Still I'm partial to Gold City's version of this song because they sang it the first time that I ever heard it.

  • I have heard a lot of people do this song, But nobody can do it like God City they are sooo anointed.

  • When my aunt died, my mom had an urge to sing this song. I imagine that she was praising my aunt on home to be with Jesus. That's a beautiful thing:)

Loving this song, how they performed it and all. They did a beautiful job performing this song:)

  • Have you heard Michael English sing this song.

    Wow he is good....

    carrolc

  • Thanks for the heads up:)

  • They do a fabulous job with this song, but if you want to hear it done better just listen to Alvin Slaughter do it....OH MY GOODNESS he tears this song up royally. I love both versions.

  • You can see the spirit moving all over them. I have goose bumps, this song really touches me!!!

  • great song Jesus could come back anyday

  • I saw them last night in North Carolina they were just awesome!!!! JESUS was in the House, what a time we had!

  • wow such a wonderful group in a class of there own thanks for posting. please check out The Maynard Family. God bless you

  • i just saw Gold City in concert last nite, and this was with the new guy that replaced Jonathan. I liked Jonathan, but the new guy seemed to have more spirit to him. they were fantastic!!

  • Ive just seen Gold city in concert, they are good but in my opinion its not the same without Jonathan

  • A memeber of Gold City DID die in a car crash. Doug Riley passed away January 2006. You can check out Gold City's webpage and they have a memorial to him.

  • So it is not true that one member of Gold

City died in a car crash ???

I hope this was just a wrong information

as I really love the group !!!

  • My husband and I were very saddened to hear Jon was leaving Gold City. We'll miss you!

  • Enjoy Jonathan now because I see where he's resigning his position w/GC after 12 glorious years! I wish him ONLY the best but he WILL be missed. Godspeed, Jon!!!

  • Say what U all wish but every one of the gentlemen mentioned are doing God's work through song. IMHO, there's only one lead singer associated with this song & that's Ivan Parker. It's his signature song & while the others are awesome, it's Ivan's & Ivan's alone!!

  • This group is fantastic with this song, but go up to search and put in Alvin Slaughter's name and see how he tears this song up. You will be shouting and dancing, he is AWESOME also.

  • Where is this filmed?! Looks like Whitewell Metropolitian Tabernacle in Belfast Northern Ireland.....sounds like the tape i have too....

  • The fact that J. Wilburn was ever offered this elite position shows you just how far the talent pool in Southern gospel music has dwindled. And yes, simsman1975, you are correct...Mike English is the greatest lead singer to ever sing So. Gospel music! With Kenny Hinson and Guy Penrod a very close 2nd and 3rd.

  • mike english is great.he is the worst ever.if you listen to j.wilburn and a.rice you will understand.there is more to this than what you understand.

  • Redceltyank1, You have to be kidding me! That's a heck-of-an insult to throw at a man who many (including the gospel music field) consider the best lead singer in years. What can you possibly critique about his voice that could back that up? English is great, but can not "out sing" Wilburn. They have different type voices, but the ability on either is not in question. Maybe you don't like the traditional gospel voice that he has? I'm confused.

  • "The best lead singer in years." What a sad commentary for So.Gospel Music then. In fact, I love good, legitimate, tradional voices! Unfortunately for GC, when Brian and Ivan left, they decided they wanted to sound like the Kingsmen and sing loud and high with very little emphasis on voice quality. I must say that with Jonathan gone and Danny Riley running the show, they are getting closer to the sound that made them revolutionaries in the 80's.

  • Furtermore, I don't put a lot of stock in the opinions of the people running "the gospel music field." It is those same people who have it going down the toilet. Back in the 80's when the Singing Americans, GC, The Hinsons, and the Talley's were taking the industry in a more appealing direction, the "industry" chose to push groups like the McKameys,The Inspirations, etc. What a shame!

And now that there are so gospel groups out there who appeal to youth, it's too late. The audience is dying.

  • I would have to agree with you on just about all that, but Brian hit the same notes that jay did every night as did ivan and john, i think that gold city was a better group with john and jay, i dont prefer to listen to them now because of their lead and him sounding like a gaither

  • real talent...Glory!!!

  • You should hear a guy from Jemison, Alabama by the name of Dee Nelson sing it!

  • The best GCQ of all time. Jonathan is great! Thanks for posting this video!!!

  • michael english gots nothing on ivan parker or jonathan wilburn

  • @mgw1988 Your christian right? look at the holy spirit speaking through them, not WHO is better. Because this idea makes satan very happy

  • michael english does not have the voice of jonathan wilburn

  • I guess it's personal preference

  • Michael English isn't nearly in the same class as Wilburn or Parker.

  • Again I will say it is personal preference. I think Michael has a great voice, especially on this song

  • You may be legally insane.....Micheal English is the best lead singer EVER !!!! YouTube "House of Gold" by Micheal, Mark Lowry and David Phelps and see if this changes your mind . Take Care, I wasn't trying to be rude.

  • @rencal45 he sings better if you are use to listening gospel music while riding a horse!!!!

This is inspirational, Mr english is just another singer with good picth of voice.

  • Even so come Lord Jesus!!

  • Best lead singer in gospel music.

  • He is the second best..Arthur Rice is 1st !!

  • I'll agree with that 100%. Wilburn is outstanding, but Arthur Rice is the best lead singer in gospel music.

  • Ok, I did my homework and listened to everything I could find on Arthur Rice. He is outstanding, but I'm not convinced he is better than Wilburn. Wilburn sings with more soul and is almost flawless. He nails the little things that make a difference if you know what I mean. He reminds me of my other favorite: Glen Payne. However, I'm now a fan of Arthur Rice, so thanks for pointing me his way.

  • Jonathan Wilburn (one singing this soneg) and Ivan Parker(when they originally recorded this song) are the best lead singers Gold City ever had.

  • Weren't they pretty much the only lead singers Gold City ever had? :0) I'm just kidding. Yeah, I agree with you GVFans!

  • The other lead singers were Jerrie Ritchie, Steve Lacie, and David Hill.

  • Yeah I knew about Jerry Ritchie, but not the other two guys. Thanks for the insight/info.

  • Steve Lacie joined The Kingdom Heirs (1994) and left to sell jewelry with his wife later that year.

  • Oh, he was with the KH! Awesome. I knew I'd heard of the other two guys, just didn't know they used to be with Gold City, thanks!

  • This is really a Beautiful and moving song.I Love Gold City.

  • omg this song is sooooo good!!!!!

  • good job guys

  • I love the song and GOLD CITY, tnx a lot for posting this:D:D:D
