Best number in the movie, easily -- and one of the best music videos of all time. Hadn't thought of this song for years, and then today my 19-year-old niece posts her Facebook status: "A backyard where my friends can stay."
Hi I love this song, it is written and still played by Billy Miller from the Ferrets (Don't fall in Love). Billy played this song throughout his other band called the Spaniards, which the crowd renamed 'Houseboat' why I don't know!
Billy still plays this song around Melbourne, especially at Spaniards reunions which they do one or twice a year. Bill also plays every Sunday at the George Hotel in StKilda.
There's nothing malicious about my comments. They accurately reflect the quality of this alledged 80's "musical". It makes Grease 2 look like West SIde Story. As to my humor, turd jokes have existed since the beggining of mankind. Ancient Egyptian carvings clearly show Pharaohs telling turd jokes prior to thier entombing their servants so that they can serve them in the next life. It is well documented that Pharaoh Djisor of the Third Dynasty was heavy into turd jokes. Like "You turd me on" ,
You're accusing me of having no sense of humour, when you say this film has no charm? Humour is about more than what makes us laugh. Humour includes that which is endearing, charming, enjoyable. I say you're the one with no sense of humour if you can't see how lovely, original, and delightfully kitchy this movie is.
You are a dolt of the wost kind - one who thinks they are clever. And for someone who has such a visceral hatred of this movie, you seem to be devoting a lot of energy to the thread here. Bugger off you little pecker
I devote a great of effort to many things. Some important, others not so important. So is life. A person can stare at an Ant hill for hours and find beauty in the complexity of life. Then there are less important (some might call insignificant) things like this 80's pop disaster and find them so utterly void of quality that it too, can be as fascinating as that ant hill -- with the exception that it's a fascination more akin to a car accident with bodies laying everywhere in small pieces.
How terribly sad for you. You seem like reasonably intelligent person, perhaps you will someday figure out that your opinion means nothing to the other 6 billion inhabitants of this planet. So sound off if you must, but frankly, you have little of value to offer.
YouTube was expressly created for people to Broadcast themselves and their postings scrutinized and/or criticized. No one said "we're all going to agree on each other's opinion". Hell, no one even said "You'll like the opinions of other people". In fact, no one ever said there wouldn't be people who's opinion you'd fine stupid, offensive or immature. But my opinion (however stupid you perceive it) Is just a valuable as anyones. I respected and didn't mock anyone but the film itself.
I may be a twat, but it doesn't change the fact that Starstruck has all the charm of having an arrow shot through the neck and finding there's a gas bill attached at the other end. Woof!
Not much uncertainty on the twat issue, frankly. Relax pickleboy - it wasn't meant to be high art, and for those of us who enjoyed the era and the music Starstruck hit the mark. If you hate it so much, why are you monitoring the comments? Back to your JLo videos!
Thank you, this is one of my all-time favorite movies. I saw it in the theater in '82, got the soundtrack on LP when it came out, got the VHS movie, and now, last year, the DVD. It's harldy a perfect movie, it's just *right*.
I was excited to purchase the DVD....I agree with you about him miming up against the wall in the elevator..that is what stands out most in the scene.but the whole scene is amazing....about the rest of the film...I guess it was one of the first films Geoffrey Rush was in ???
no problemo, i can't tell you how excited i was when this finally came out on dvd!!! i love when they're on the levator and he has to mime being up against the wall... hyuck-hyuck!
Thanks to you my long search for this song is over!!! I was much closer to the age of these guys when I first saw it. It's very inspirational. All I need is a catchy song, some people who will learn some dance steps, and a building with with a stairwell! Muchos Gracias, Senor!!!

It's one thing to have a terrible sense of humour, but another to be malicious and crude on top of it.

If you don't like it, go away and don't comment. Simple.
Sei1863 2 years ago
But if I didn't comment, I wouldn't meet such engaging, open minded people with a sense of humour such as yourself. Simple.

Well, humour is in the eye of the beholder. Which reminds me: What part of a vegetable can you NOT eat? Answer: The Wheelchair.

Yes it was written by Bill Miller but the band was Bill Miller and the Great Blokes.
I used to go see them play at the Waurn Ponds hotel Geelong. How's that? 12 months later and you get an answer!
