  • Very nice and in my case very useful review of the B3K Pedal!! :)

Definitely a pedal i will save up to!!

    Thanks!

  • Do you have two 8 ohm cabs equalling 4 ohms? I have a 4 ohm Avatar B212 Neo and am thinking about adding the B410 to it, but then I got all confused trying to do all the ohm math.

  • No Idea why someone would pay 300$ for this thing. Get a rustybox or a bass tube screamer or anything else. Is this through a tweeter or something? I hate the sound of this.

  • @hojima Sorry you don't like the sound! You're the first person I've heard out of hundreds that doesn't like what the B3K offers. That's what's great about tone! Everyone has their own likes.

This was recorded from the DI of the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500, no mic'ing was done.

  • @NickNARDONE I'd probably like it if I heard a cabinet recording without a tweeter. the high end is just too clanky for me.

  • Excellent review! I've had the pedal for about a month now and i'm really glad i made the investment! it's simple yet powerful....full...it can be brutally punishing thru my mesa m9carbine without sacrificing any clarity, punch or low end.

  • great demo! showed what everything does in good detail :P

  • Very in depth review. You've got crazy amounts of gear too! I love the setup! Sounds good man. Can't wait to see you play again some time with Civilian. :)

  • @PwninZombies Thanks dude!

Where did you see us play last?

  • @NickNARDONE I believe it was at Firestone here in Orlando

  • @PwninZombies @PwninZombies Ah ok, That show was a blast. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and FB and we'll let ya know next Orlando show we play. Make sure you come say hey to me if you ever happen to see us again.

    Thanks dude!

  • Hey @NickNARDONE, so... I need gear help if you have a sec. I'm about to buy an SVT Classic. But I don't want to bother with tube replacement and lugging the thing around. Plus, my band is about to record a new album, and the SVT is much too powerful to record with, I feel. I see you play Aguilar and I know they get a lot of attention...Is that what you use live? Make a case for them and/or solid state?

  • @joshuaryant Hey Josh! Thanks for the advice question! I'm always happy to lend advice and share with others what people have taught to me.

You're right, I have been exclusively playing Aguilar Amplification for many years now and at this point, I would consider myself a life-long customer. I can lend good advice towards your tube vs. solid state debate because I played a tube Aguilar DB750 for a while.

  • @joshuaryant CONTINUATION.... The SS (solid state) TH500 that I've recently started playing is AMAZING and I haven't looked back at the DB750 for tone at all. The only thing I sometimes wish is that the TH500 had a bit more power for increased headroom which I bet Aguilar will address sometime int he future be releasing a more powerful mini head such as a 750 or 800 model like most of the other amp companies are doing in there mini amp line. GK, MarkBass, GenzBenz, etc...

  • @joshuaryant CONTINUATION 2.... I got rid of my DB750 mainly because of the extra maintenance and care that a tube head requires. Tube heads are heavy as hell and when on the road, I would rather not have to worry about being uber delicate with my gear and have to worry about tubes going bad before a set. I had a tube shake crooked in it's socket once causing my head to go down before a show... I don't want to have to worry about issues like this on the road.

  • @joshuaryant CONTINUATION 3.... There's no loss of tone with SS compared to Tube to my ears. And I love the lightweight and portable package.

Aguilar is KING in my opinion because you don't have to try hard to sound good with Aguilar. With all of my Aguilar gear, I find my basses sound best with the EQ bass and treble left completely flat with just a hair of mid scoop. I've never found another amplifier that doesn't require a lot of EQ tweaking to get a good sound out of.

  • @joshuaryant CONTINUATION 4.... On the road, simplicity is best. I feel this way about my basses, pedals, and most importantly my heads. The less tweaking I have to do to get MY sound, the better! Aguilar amps stay clean and ultra punchy regardless of how loud you play them. When you buy Aguilar, you buy into Aguilar's legendary customer service. The guys at Aguilar treat you like a boutique amp owner and are absolutely wonderful to work with. Try the TH500 and you'll love it. Promise. ;)

  • @NickNARDONE Thanks so much for the advice. Buying either a TH 500 or the new 350. I've had my eye on them for months but my band really wants me to be an Ampeg guy. I don't know that I am. By the way, you've met them, I bass for Ryan Fletcher and Standing Small.

  • @joshuaryant Oh snap! Fletch is one of my all time favorite people ever. Congrats! I'd love to play with those guys. Don't ever let anyone bully you into a gear acquisition decision. Your style and tone is up to you and you alone!

Spend the extra scratch and go with the TH500, you'll want the headroom in live settings. Trust me on this one. You'll want to go with a 4 ohm cabinet as well in order to get all you can out of these little heads.

  • @BeArtist1 haha! You cracked me up.

    Thank you all.

  • Well done my friend! Great review

  • Thanks Nick for making this! Is great!!

  • Perfect sound!

  • @guidopoblete Thanks!
