My advice, use it, it is really a great camera, and you won't regred it I shot thousands of shots with it. And especially whith the 50mm 1.8, it is a great combo. And maby getting a type e screen glass

Indeed, but still, somehow Im a little jelous, but no it is a great camera. And you cannot brake them down, and they are really really reliable but I know also have an fe2 (almost an fm2...)

Yes!!just swept the dust away and take your baby, Nikon FG-20 out. It will give you more than you expect. In my opinion, we should rescue all cameras which lock in closet and set them free to do what they meant to be, to catch the precious moment, lovely face, beautiful scene and so on. That is what I hope.
In my view,if you keep a Mechanical camera and a digital camera, after 20 years the mechanical camera still can use and have more value if it become rare in market.For digital camera, after 20 years, the electronic wire/parts/battery may spoilt. Even if the digital camera still can be use but it will be out dated as more mega pixel camera will keep on coming. So take good care of your Nikon FM2 and pass it to your children or even grandchildren.
I am 100% behind you!! And thanks for your recommendation. I always treat my Nikon FM2 as a precious and hopefully keep it intact so that my child, even my grandchild could use it and experience its' power. Wish the film still exists at that time.

I have a Nikon FG-20 as a new gathering dust in my closet and see the video I felt horrible D:
