2 - If you don't know what 'obsolete' means you shouldn't use it. Just because something is no longer the current model does NOT make it obsolete.
ur right, i came to my senses and actually bought a macbook pro last weekend. i decided to get it cuz they didnt come out with a new one in their event in san fran, just ipods, and i got a discount with my moms friend who works at a school. im only in high school, and i saved alot of money. i love it.
I got question? Can you use MacBook Pro for video editing HD? I want to get new MacBook Pro for HD video editing but I don't know if Mac can handle it, I don't know if 15.4 or 17 inch is best? My current Dell D630, can't handle any video editing at all:( even through I got the 2.0 duo core 800 FSB.

Glenn, do you think that the cinema display will be updated soon with the mac pro? And if so, do you think they will include the ever loved iSight. Even though some pro's wont need it, it is fun to play around in photo booth!

Well as of tonight I have placed my order for the Macbook I speced, as we now know they haven't increased the speed or anything but I'm more then happy and cannot wait to get my hands on it and Leapord.
I just got that spec machine, but with the standard hard drive. I find it perfectly adequate for everything. If you are struggling for cash I don't think you need to worry about the 4GB RAM. And, if you have the money for AppleCare there is no reason to not buy it right away. I think people used to think that you could get an effective 4 year warranty by leaving it a year, but that doesn't work, it only goes up to a MAXimum 3 years. Anyway, that might not have been your thoughts ;-) Just saying!
Thanks very much for the video reply Glenn, I'll have to get the memory before the end of the year then. And thanks very much on the iCare tip, didn't know that one. I'm not too bothered about the CPU going up in small speed increments. I just play around with 3D annimation for myself/ hobby, hence I just want a laptop. Once again thanks for the answers.

The only thing I'm going to say is that you need to put dates into your info.
I'm guessing you are talking about what you think will happen in October 2007 and you should make that explicit within your video itself.
If someone doesn't check the posted date and thinks you are talking about Oct 2008 you sound like you are badly out of touch.
Forgetting how long these things (and web pages) hang around is a trap new players often fall into and you seem better than that.

I dont really take thta many pictures with my camera so i dont need a sd reader. . . also dont need 4 usb. 2 is perfect for me.

Yep certainly you can do HD editing on a MBP.
Not suggesting it's the ideal platform but it's certainly possible an d not too painful.
