I like Sarah Silverman well enough, but I think she has a problem playing in the UK because so much of her material is based around the specific stereotypes and sensitivities in American culture, and for that stuff to work you have to be quite fine tuned to what your audience gets and doesn't get, so coming to another country.... throws her, throws her audience. I remember thinking the same thing about Bill Hicks, he's also funnier in the US than he is in the UK.

You didn't free us from the Nazis, the Western Front barely made a difference, the Eastern Front was where the war was decided. Russia is the only country that can claim to have saved Europe from the Nazis (ironically they now have the biggest amount of neo-nazis in the world). As for communism, Stalin had no intention of ruling all of Europe like Hitler did so you beating Russia in the cold war made no difference to the rest of us.

I like Sarah Silverman well enough, but I think she has a problem playing in the UK because so much of her material is based around the specific stereotypes and sensitivities in American culture, and for that stuff to work you have to be quite fine tuned to what your audience gets and doesn't get, so coming to another country.... throws her, throws her audience. I remember thinking the same thing about Bill Hicks, he's also funnier in the US than he is in the UK.

@Paul07791 I'm a Brit too ;-) I was really obsessed with Bill Hicks for a while when I was a teenager, and I have 3 of his albums on CD (recorded in US) and a Channel 4 concert video recorded in the UK, and the interaction between Hicks and the audience is (I think) subtly and noticeably different - even when he's fighting a US audience, BH seems far more comfortable and tuned in than with a positive UK audience.

If he was he would have listened to her story and elaborated on it...making jokes and keeping us informed at the same time. If you you like his little interview you don't get what it means to be on a late night host. UK has good comedy, but this guy suks
