  • Clickity click. :D

  • why does that bird keep wagging its tail?

  • I have to agree, why Willy wagtail's nromal speaking voice and sogn voice is different is beyond me

  • damn, Zarla, you're right, that song is catchy XD

  • just shown this to my 12 year old son.he thought it was funny.sure brought back memories of when i watched it many years ago.i could still remember the chorus.would love to get a copy of this film because not only is it fun but its educational.

  • just played this too my 12 year old.he thought it was funny.sure brought back memories of when i watched it many years ago.would like to get hold of a copy of the whole film because its not only fun but educational.

  • i always cry at this scene and dot did sooo well of taking good care of kangaroo!

  • omg the clickity click song! this was my favorite part as a child!

  • Wow, I think this is the first one I've seen with Dot's parents actually in it, other than Dot And Keeto. Dot kick's Dora the Explorer's ass.

  • CLICKETY-CLICK! :^)

  • Does anyomne know where I can get a clip of the gorgheous piano music that plays while the kangaroo is hurt? I always loved that music its so sad

  • Oh yeah! The mice! Damn them for not helping! Lol

  • This almost brings tears to my eyes. I haven't seen this in about 30 years!

  • Well, why did she have to travel so far if the stupid little mice are following her around everywhere? lol

It was one of those little rodents who made her get lost to begin with!

  • anyone else think the clickity click bird looks like Batman Adam West?

  • lol i used to look for water like that but i could never find it =P

  • one of the longest walking scenes EVER, followed by one of the best songs EVER teaching us all that patience is a virtue and comes with it's own rewards...

i think he was mimiking dots voice when he was talking...

and as for the water, it had only recently rained so the water hadn't fully soaked into the ground, but yeah it's still a bit odd.

  • Wow! I haven't seen or heard this since I was a child in the 70's! But I still remembered the song and learned so much about Australia from it. What I found amazing too is the combo of cartoons in a real woods background. Also the soft motherly voice of the kangaroo. Very sweet story!

  • I was always really mad at Dot and blamed her for hurting the kangaroo. Because she wanted to watch the Aboriginal ritual and then screamed and made the dingoes chase after them. And then she was too heavy for the kangaroo and gah!! Oh god. I'm up to the last bit. Do I dare watch it and stay mopey for days?

  • yay! the willy wagtail song was my favorite song in the whole movie and those birds were bitterns,

  • Agreed that yes the birds I noticed now in my older years matches the bunyip in voice, and coloring. Truely a nice capture of Alstralain legend, if true. For those type of birds are quite well known for being categorized at high decibles. In deed I feel reminded of why this movie must have touched me more than i realized... 8) What a wonderful movie to have seem in my childhood. Us children born late seventties and early eighties were blessed with great cartoons! Let's not forget unico ! 8)

  • Amazing movie! Love it!

  • oh I remember this... I remember the loud birds that utimatly led her home... Clickity click... whaail!!!! I am that bird... I have something to say... this movie moves me!!!! Thankyou for posting it!!! The whole Workd neeeeeeds to see this movie!!! A Thing of my childhood that I knew about!!!

  • i know aye i started crying a bit too

  • i always get some tears wen kangoroo sheds a tear at Dot for helping her..and plus the music....heartbreaking.

  • I agree. The scene with Dot nursing Kangaroo back to health is so very pretty, and the music is so pretty. All happy and sad all at once.

  • @bexlovesashley yea, strong movie for a kid, as i saw it ...it was llike my cinematic intro to EXistencialism, very very Melancolikal, how u call this mix bbetwen actual footag and cartoon?] very original indeed

  • Responder a este video... @bexlovesashley yea, strong movie for a kid, as i saw it ...it was llike my cinematic intro to EXistencialism, very very Melancolikal, how u call this mix bbetwen actual footag and cartoon?] very original indeed

  • The pulling back the dirt and suddenly water appears thing is weird. They're near the edge of a cliff, right? The water table would be pretty damn low beneath them.

The two ducks also have singing voices completely different from their speaking voices. LOL

  • thank u for this! it still makes me cry at the end! I cried and called for that kangaroo too ;_:

  • this is so sad but it makes me cry at the end. I did think that if you scarbble at the ground there is water. DUMB!

  • my god....I haven't seen this like since i was a tod!, thanks for uploading it!!!

  • Thanks for putting this film up - loved watching it again.

As for the different voices I've read that Ross Higgins voiced Willie Wagtail, and I think in the singing he does sound sort of like Ted Bulpitt, and it does credit (on the opening credits) Ross under speaking voices and songs. I'm sure I've read somewhere before that Ross can do lots of different voices so maybe it was just easier singing with a more normal voice?

  • I watched this movie as a child and it had a huge impact on me! Now as an adult, I found it on e-bay and I had my own children watch it! I still cried at the end, I think the ending was so sad, I think that kangaroo should have at least stayed until Dot came back with her parents, and the music is so sad too!

  • That snake looks like the one from "Q*Bert".

  • Yeah kinda! Hahaha

  • Almost all the animals have the same voice!

  • T___T the musicpart by the scene ,who the kangoroo is hurt, is so bad...i can cry when I heard that music...

  • chances are that the willywagtail had two different voices -- a singing one and an acting one. either that, or the voice actor was very good at changing voices altogether.

  • Anyone else surprised to see a dingo and a snake during willywagtail's song? I pretty much thought they were long gone.

  • That was amazing. I used to watch this film everyday when i was a kid. Some how i lost the film. Thanks for posting this...I love It

  • me too =)

  • The CG's are amazing! haha. I love this movie.

  • part 11 its make me cry :-(

  • It s a lovely story but sad. This is my fave movie as a kid. I love it. The songs omg how good. I could watch this for ever and never get bored.

  • Clickity Click! Gotta love the songs here. Ah the memories. I forgot how surprisingly heart felt this film was. Dot and the Kangaroo really do have a strong bond, no matter what age it gets ya right in the old ticker.

  • ze bird eez molting it eez!

  • Thank you so much for posting this ^-^ Childhood memories came flooding back!

  • Someone finally posted Dot and the Kangaroo! Do you have Dot and Keeto ZarlaSheenaza?

  • Nope.

  • You don't have it? As the WWE superstar Farooq would say "DAMN"! Oh well. I have Dot and the Bunyib/smugglers & santa claus so I can wait a bit longer!

And NO I can't burn post them cause I don't know how & I don't want to get in trouble with the law!

  • You have those movies?! I haven't even seen them, you don't mind if i ask you about them? What does the Bunyip look like in the movie you got?

  • He kinda looks like a wombat with with 2 teeth from the top of his mouth. If you wanna see it type Dot and the smugglers on Google image search. I mainly got them cause of the 2 kangaroos Basher & Bruiser. I did fan art of them.

  • Its already up here somewhere, I believe

  • It was but it's gone. Why I can't understand. No money is being made out of these films!
