I will never go there, because they have the death penalty there. I will not support any country with such a barbaric and primitive and medieval thing as the death penalty.: (
China has consecutive GDP growth ave 10% years for 30 years , IMF recent report, In 2016 China will surpass U.S GDP, actually today, China's GDP already reach $11.2 trillion, only 3.5 tn short to american 14.7 tn
i am sure 9 months from now, China will surpass z USA
in 2025 China GDP will be a whopping $123 trillion, more then world double GDP combine, inevitably China will become a hyperpower nation.
And also, in my own personal opinion Chinese society is not conducive to creativity. Students do nothing but study, and much of this study is rote memorization or constant drills of repetitive problems. There is also a very strong trend in industry to "follow the leader". I've been given this same advice by the native Chinese.
@baguazhang2 the one who came up with the idea of spaceplane which that led to the development of the space shuttle was a chinese who later became the founder of the chinese space program after leaving NASA. chinese intellect are quite a different breed of people who do not base themselves merely on one train of thought, in the common society however order is necessary to support of vast population and prevent confusion. this is a system build to solve a specify need.
I've lived in China for awhile. I communicate with people who manufacture goods. China prefers to copy, rather than invent because 1.) the design phase can sometimes take up half the costs, and 2.) because innovation can be slow when factories need to get the most use out of expensive moulds / industrial processes as possible. The mindset there is also profit, profit, profit. Cutting corners, bribery, and neglecting safety and the environment are pervasive in all industries.
all people is not equal under the communism china, most of people is so poor, but major communist has so many privilege, car house food etc etc,,,,,,major communist in china just want to keep those privilege,so that why they killed historical amount of their citizen, its typical characteristic of communism, communist kill their against people without any permission necessary, china is perfectly lawless zone, chinese communist party killed historical amount of people for keep major communist`s privilege
Everyone think the lifestandard in China is about the same as Europe or the US but it's really much and much lower.
The average income in China is lower than for example Iran or Bosnia, it only seems great because you have to multiply it with 1.4 billion people.
Sure there are some rich chinese, but the main population are still poor factory workers who will probably never can buy what the average American or European can and will buy.
I, for one couldn't even imagine contemplating that the chinks have the same lifestyle as Americans or Europeans! The only people who believe that are gullible morons who believe everything they read or see in the papers!
@mariamole011 most people don't know shit about economy, and banks exploid that dumb crowd they call costumers so they can make huge profits on those idiots.
@madhat1979 you are right , the bankers have fooled the mass. in europe the government created a socialism payed by debts, them when the milions of ilegal imigrats came and scrreewed every one , people voted the socialists out , then they got the results. a massive debt and a bank baill out that will make thos people rich for a century. and the comom people pay the duck. i saw on tv today that many people now want t oinvade an african country to help pay the greece debt.
@madhat1979 the problems is in the long term i think, EU will need work force to deal with its ageing population , and europeans do want to go to spain , portugal, greece during sumer time, to scape from the sun., the europeans would loose with out those countries. the oil , gas reserves arent eternal, soon they will move south for more energy, but i undertand your point, thoese coutrnies haven srewiing around for a long time, but remember , most people there are black and muslim.
@mariamole011 Black and Muslim? well NO, most of the spanish and greek population are Christian and white.
They just have a wrong aditude, mainly because for over 10 years they get truckloads of money from west europe, the greek don't have to pay roadtaxes because all the roads in Greece are payed with money from Germany, France, UK, Holland and Denmark.
@madhat1979 not realy , they are white of muslim descent, latim, they are not pure nordic white. aboult 30 % are i think, i been to portugal and most people there are not realy white, they are mixed some how,
i dont know aboult spain or greece , because i havent been there, but in portugal i seen some slums and "guettos" that scared the shit out of me, out side the cities, they migrate from africa in milions and stay there, . i am from south america.
@madhat1979 yes , they have wrong atitude, since they are getting fortunes from joining EU, as you said , no tax road, and construction seeling flats they got a lot of money. i live in england now, but would like to live in portugal or spain, but there seem very expensive.
@madhat1979 true- yet the chinese economie as a whole is much stronger than the economie of Europe or the USA. doesn't matter that many people are poor- the state is rich. so rich, that it can refinance our fine lifestyle.
@drfaul The problem is that China's economy is build on cheap labor, so they can't change that or else the production goes to other low-cost countries like India.
So most of the chinese workers must keep a low salary to maintain China's growth, to keep the citizens poor, the state can be rich, just like a communist state.......that's why China never can be democratic AND have a high rise economy, because in a rich democraty people smply don't work 15 hour a day for 5 dollars
@madhat1979 yet that are just the results of the international globalization.
i am German. we are the second strongest export nation after china. although most of the people here couldt by an iphone, we are desperatly dependant on foreign consumption.
@drfaul I live in holland, the 5th strongest export country, so we have the same problem.
But some western countries also have a strong internal economy, China doesn't have that BECAUSE they're a low cost country, the average income in China is 1500 dollar a year, that's less than Iran or Bosnia.
The only thing that makes them strong is there are 1.4 billion people who has nothing to say, in fact: china is just a few people govenment with 1.4 billion slaves.
@madhat1979 the average chinese citizen thinks he is happy, though. and they are most optimistic to future times.
i think- we as europeans can't really understand the collective concept of the chinese society. we are pure individuals and they are a single part of their whole great country. that makes them happy and proud. yet don't mistake it with nationalism. it's much more binding- and much less vulnerable for racism.
@drfaul Still. I don't think the way China does things is the normal way.
Just take the censorship on media for example, the chinese population is "happy" because they don't know better.
This kind of promotion movies remind me of the propaganda form the USSR in the 70's and 80's where you saw dozens of happy Russians while everybody knew that a lot of russians lived in poverty.
@madhat1979 so i don't have it from TV. my father worked as a glasses designer in the last twenty years in hong kong, korea, taiwan, macao and shanghai. i was 8 times in china and talked to a lot of people from very different social classes.
i think, the migrant worker and the farmers are in bad situations, but it will be better 'cause the problems are well known.
@drfaul there is a lot of dissatisfaction between the population, a lot of factory workers barely can come around just because their salary hardly rise to keep the western clients.
Another problem is the fast growing gap between rich and poor, or the way the government acts against the population.
Another example of how the chinese economy malfunctions: the big shopping malls that have been build in China or for 80% empty. Rents are to high for retailers and sales are too low... But China wants to have its 'prestige buildings'....
Well, with chinese inflation (money is becoming less worth) of over 5%, the situation for the middle class in China is not getting any better. And what is the reaction of the Chinese government? They have forbidden producers to raise their prices. But these producers must raise their prices, because the costs of production rise (rising wages, rising buying prices, rising raw material prices, rising oil and gas prices etc). Chinese government thinks it can beat economic rules....
@Budge69er in your dream you dog...ppl die to get out of your fucking country where brainless dogs like you are everywhere, a second longer will make you vomit blood...ppl go to your country just to do business cause you fucking dogs are too dumb to be true...your money is easy to earn, you spend till you drop your pants
@manchewl lollololol rly? maybe it's because we have 22 million people, and we are like shit? We have the second highest HDI you dickhead and are much much better then your United Kingdom.
@manchewl Yeah that's why we are one of the few countries not in recession, why people risk their lives to try to get here, wake up to yourself moron. It's fucking awesome here, much better than the UK and much better from where your family left to bring you a better life in the UK lol
Here's the deal folks-- China is still behind the U.S. and the West but is catching up fast. The age of the West murdering, stealing from, colonizing, enslaving, raping, and just basically keeping the rest of the world down is coming to an end. This is what keeps snowflakes up at night. Snowflakes are TERRIFIED at the thought of losing their grip on power. Well best you get off the tracks snowflakes, cause the freight train is coming through!
Chinese factories make our iPhones and iPads, our cheap kids clothes at Tesco, Primark or Wal-Mart and almost any pastic item you can imagine. Their exports are accumulating billions of dollars, euros & yen - approximately $2.65 trillion in foreign reserves!
@Plastering4u your numbers out of date china holds around 2.8 trillion foreign reserves atm and its not a good thing for china or the rest of the world.
The most clever business people today are Chinese and Germany. They will be the most successful in the 21st century. Reason is that china and Germany are nations of saving and investment. While in the u.s and Britain, Greece, Ireland, Portuguese, Spain, Italy etc, they borrow and spending nations.
@powerofthroughts Also Germany and China support and encourage the use of reason, logic, and secular thinking, more than many other countries. Not a coincidence. If anyone outside the US could understand just how inept Amurcka has become they'd pity us. It is like Russia in the early 1900s, nothing gets done, no child learns anything of use, and 90% of private industry is an over regulated mess. But most everyone still waves their "we're #1" foam fingers to make themselves feel good. sad.
@powerofthroughts nations run on zionsit banker's money soon end up in war and blaming the world pathetic countries u mentioned above but wht ur very excellent
@powerofthroughts nations run on zionsit banker's money soon end up in war and blaming the world pathetic countries u mentioned above but wht ur comments r very excellent
@Change6609 surely, you must talking from about nonsense here. How can it stupid, When you investing in manufacturing and saving, why is Germany and china are so successful today, while nearly all the other nations like U.S, BRITAIN, GREECE , PORTUGUESE, SPAIN, ITALY, FRANCE ETC are falling, they are begging china for help. Business is only operate in a certain way to success, in the past U.S or Britain were successful, due to investment and saving, but now only borrowing and spending.
I don't want to discuss with a guy like you that has no understanding at all about the economic science. First go to a university and learn something about econmomy, and then we'll talk.
One thing I will 'disclose' to you: in order to be able to invest, you have to spend money. Spending money means you can not save it. Makes sense to you?
@Change6609 Firstly, you don't understand anything, most of the billionaires and millionaires do not have university education, mostly university graduated people working for them, but most self made millionaires got an average or none academic background, you are just talk nonsense here. you don't always need money a lot of money to invest, sure you need to have a dollar to start of to make the millions, you don't get my point here,i think you need go out to gain real experience, not text book.
Invest in silver or gold, Chinas economy is booming and it's citizens are now allowed to purchase precious metals for investment, now there's 1+ billion folks & they're a nation of savers & will send precious metal prices up & up.
Americans would be 10 times better if we voted DEMs into office..instead of workers worrying about rising health care costs...a public options would've eased that down...instead of worrying about shipping jobs out...the DEMs would've passed a bill against it...but NO, you dumb asses just happen to watch FOX NEWS all day and think its all true. If America is out done by China...com'on man, it's OUR OWN FAULT FOR BEING STUPID. But the corporatists in USA will certainly get richer as wage go down
Good. So, why don't they pay more attention to series of social problems such as income inequality, jobless, Tibet, environment and etc..? BTW, conguratualtions for the Nobel Peace Prize!
The funny thing is that China's one child policy is one of the most criticized human right issue in the Western world. That fact uncontrolled population growth, especially in a country the size of China, will probably bring the ruin of humanity in general is left unsaid. Another issue is Tibet. The fact that separating Tibet from China is equivalent of asking US to give Hawaii and Alaska independence is often left unsaid.
@holyseraph no it is the equivalent of the us giving our whole country back to the british empire and then they giving the country back to the native americans.
@holyseraph no its not, cause the the neither the Alaskans or Hawaiians wish to be independent of the US. Even if they did the US wouldn't just start murdering them.
Erm, Hawaiians use to have their own monarchy. The annexation of Hawaii started with "Bayonet Constitution" at 1887. The Euro-American business leaders essentially forced the king to sign the charter with a gun to his head. The Constitution also only allow resident Whites to vote. The native and Asian population is completely ignored. Really, did you really think US or ANY country got all the territory without killing a lot of people?
@holyseraph At what point did i speak about past event? If you wish to discuss something that's fine but trying to put words in my mouth shows a failure to address what i am talking about. Further more what you said about only whites are allowed to vote is rubbish as is the suggestion that the native population is ignored, i have been to all the islands many times and know first hand that is not even close to true, please don't make things up to support your story.
@Phead128 china did not do that it was the free market . Business from Europe and the us came to china to so the can find people who would work for less and that is why everything is made in china now. If the us and Eu stop trading and making work then poverty will strike china again
You already gave China industrialization. China has a market of consumers that is 5 times bigger than US, and 3 times bigger the Europe.
So, if US and EU stop buying Chinese goods, then China has a vast 1.5 billion population to start consuming goods. THEN block US EU companies from accessing China's vastly bigger markets. :-)
@orkneymist You are right. China is no USSR. They have Jews. China only has Hu Jintao. China is now Hu Jintao's communist.
A group of veteran reformers in China's Communist party has demanded that the country dismantle its elaborate censorship apparatus, an appeal for accelerated political reform. Hu Jintao immediately declared: over my dead body.
Why is China allowing universial suffrage for Hong Kong in 2017 (legislature) and 2020 (Chief Executive) if China expects to reintegrate HK by 2047?
Why does China have democracy at the village township level, and is currently experimenting with direct provincial and municipal office elections in Xiamen, Fujian?
Go fucking take a class on China's economic and political reforms, and not shit you read from the newspaper that is built for the average joe.
I am srry, but I am going to be utter blatant to you
While you snoring lazy fat Americans contemplate how to live the easy life and still continue dominating the next century, China is blazing the path faster, farther, and great any nation has seen in history.
It might not sound significant to you, especially when the West worries about menial stuff such as "number of patents", "human rights", and "Tibet".
25% of the world lives under this regime. It has to do something good.
China's economic growth comes on the back of American and European consumers who felt badly for the Chinese standard of living. We could have never made China a most favored trading nation, limit their market access like they do to American and European companies but it is cultural for us to want to help those in need. China has taken advantage of this kindenss and has shown it true colors stealing technology, limiting access to their markets, manipulating their currency and polluting the world.
@Phead128 Can't blame on the Mongols, Manchus, or the Japanese anymore. Blame it on the stupid communist, Hu Jintao.
In 1945 Japan was almost ruined. In 1949 Taiwan's economy was $900 per capita GDP, China was $600 per capita GDP. In 1980, 35 years after the war, Japan was on its way to surpass the U.S. in economy.
In 2009, 60 years after the war, Taiwan's per capita GDP is 5 times as big as China. Hong Kong is even bigger.
Oh please. Only China – a continental country that is also a civilization in itself – has the long-term potential to face up to the American economic, political, military, and innovation capabilities.
An industrialized China is a scary sight my friends, and Han ruled industrialized China with an imperialistic bent fueled from knowledge gained through globalization.... That is dangerous.
If Korea, Japan, and Taiwan can be ultramodern, advanced, and developed economies with vibrant innovation capacity base.... I am pretty sure China can at least match their performance as well.
Maybe in 50-80 years, China will be developing innovative stuff like Japan, Korea, or Taiwan. Who knows?
@Phead128 China opened up in 1979. It has 30 years, but it hasn't made much progress. Most Chinese are still living in poverty.
Singapore, with Chinese majority, is already surpassing the U.S. in per capita income. So, it's not the Chinese people that are slow. It's the government.
Singapore government knows the government is like a greenhouse keeper. If it keeps the environment well, plants will take care of themselves.
Without making political changes, China will NEVER catch up.
You should take a globalization class, and it will teach you the progress made since reform and the political changes that has happened in China.
Take little steps at a time to ensure social stability, but China today political wise is a lot different than before, but there is more changes ahead.
Btw, you are a retard, go take a class on Globalization, and then come back to me.
@Phead128 That's so typical of you to get into personal attack instead of providing numbers. In fact, so far you have not made a single argument I haven't already read from elsewhere. China has $2 trillion foreign reserves. Instead of investing in domestic know-how, it invests in Blackstone, Blackrock, and others.
After success from experiment in Shenzhen you thought it might do the same across China, but other than the coastal area the rest hasn't seen much progress.
China invests 50% of her surplus into her own economy, and within this 50%, a vast amount goes to infrastructure. The only rival to China's infrastructure investment was probably 1950's US interstate highway system which is equivalent to a Great Wall of China.
Plus, US denominated assets constitute the bulk of China's foreign reserves, which she loans out to US which continues to spend and propagate the consumer cycle which popped in 2008. This cycle worked out very good for China.
That is because you are a fucking idiot that doesn't know shit about China.
Seriously, go take a globalization class on China, and perhaps you will realize that Shenzhen isn't the only city in China that has reached IMF definition of 'developed city', there is Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities in PRD, YRD, and Bohai Rim Economic Zones which has reached GDP per capita of at least $10,000.
@lustcorp You must be blind to what China has achieved in recent years. In the first place China do not export banana and China is one of the biggest manufacturer and exporter of watches.
China has overtaken US as the World 2nd largest car manufacturer and the Chinese economy is now No. 2 in the World and shall overtake US by 2025.
China is more advance than US in making high speed train and she has now the fastest train service in the World.
@typhoonq The banana vs. watch was just a made up example of low tech vs. high tech. Even the high speed rail is not of Chinese origin. It has German written all over it. Basically, the point is there is no innovation in China. Just walk into any electronic store in China and look at what's on display and see the origin of the technology, you will see the point.
China overtaking the U.S. by 2025 is just a dream. China relies on export to grow. Chinese growth shrinks along with American wallets.
@Phead128 China is as big as 4 U.S. in population. Yet, China relies on U.S. and E.U. for export. When a country relies on export to grow, its potential is limited.
The Chinese government learning ability is low, because the bureaucrats are stupid, especially Hu Jintao.
When U.S. needs something, like a laser to shoot down a missile, we tell companies in the U.S. to invent it. China rarely, if ever, tries to invent anything.
Keeping up with the Joneses is all China does, not getting ahead.
East Asian developmental states like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan depended on export oriented growth, and were able to develop internationally and globally competitive brand name conglomerates.
China is following the path of East Asian developmental states like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.
China's path is set if it wants to emulate a success model, export orientation is proven in East Asian developmental states.
Chinese competition is a problem! But, we thanks God it's only in products, because when we refer to Mens ..... "- Ask all women what their preference?"
You know why !
Hmmmm. I am very worried about Chinese competition ! Became to be Very Worried !!!
"China won't be a superpower bla bla bla". You guys can talk it out all year and it won't make a lick of difference. As you are blabbering here, the Chinese worldwide are acting and working hard to make their dreams a reality. Even the Chinese Diaspora are chipping in by providing technical knowledge and funding in China's relentless drive to regain its status as a Superpower. All that China need is time.
China is getting expensive now in 2010 more and more company's are leaving China to look for a cheaper labour market like Vietnam ,Thailand , and Phillipines.
And in the future Africa wil play a huge role in the labour market asswel
@Stridus7 I don't think it is true more and more companies are leaving China because of higher cost. For your infor. more and more companies are moving into the Western part of China where labour cost is still cheap.
Many companies invested in China because they want a piece of the Chinese domestic market which is now the 2nd largest. If these companies were to leave China they will loose their competitive edge. For example, GM car factories in China are selling more GM cars than US.
Why this title? China isn't a superpower by far! According to the IMF China hits the 98th place! That means that there is a lot of poverty and a lot of people cannot afford appropiate eating/ clothing! That is a real shame, showing of with your too large cars etc instead of taking care of the poor. I never wants to live in a country in which the people are so greedy and there are no descent wages for the lower class. The slogan should be "HOW TO BE GREEDY"
@Ian5451 98th place at what? GDP per capita? Sorry, but GDP per capita doesn't resemble the quality of life in a country, you need to look at the Quality of Life index of a country at which China hits the 60th place, which is not that bad. Actually, most of us here can afford appropriate food and clothing. Our standard of living is better than in most developing countries.
@Ian5451 Chinese have never claimed they are a superpower. Only some western press would say so.The vast majority of Chinese know China is still a developing country. Chinese prime minister Wen Jiabao especially pointed out that Chinese is not a superpower when Chinese is referred as a superpower by a CNN anchor.
why no one is asking the most important questions? Can We peacefully transition into a democracy like Korea & Taiwan did in the 90's? unlike KMT in 80's, so far CCP has made absolutely no progress towards democracy. Or will we suffer the same fate as USSR? If so what will happen to Xingjian and Tibet. If we transition into democracy, will the Uyghur\Tibetan stay as part of China, or will they vote to secede from China.
@bobxchen democracy is not the best political system out there buddy. as Winston Churchill once said It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.
what makes you think transition into democracy is the best form of governance?
@da5families Churchill won the war, but in the election of July 1945, he was defeated. The remark about democracy was made when he had lost power and had every reason to be bitter. Fortunately he kept his sense of humor even in the most trying circumstances.
@bobxchen You probably know more about that than me due to your understanding of the context from which the quote arise. Nonetheless, that has no significant bearing in discrediting what he said. The academic communites in North America, literature, and international relations books have often referred to that short quote, because to an extent, its true.
@bobxchen Does democracy = voting? If so then you have already misinterpreted democracy. I believe democracy is more of a perspective, rather than a political system.
@bobxchen Democracy will also seriously stunt China's rapid modernization...
We will become like India...which is democratic but also extremely corrupt. What is the point of democracy if the results of elections are rigged? Not to mention the infrastructure of China isn't capable of supporting democratic elections. Remember a large portion of people in china are rural farmers with difficult access to the cities + uneducated and definitely not capable of making "decisions" for the country.
2. make full use of the current high economic growth to speed up modernization
Introducing freedoms too rapidly might have a counter-productive effect on this. They already are a lot more lenient in certain areas and the condition is steadily improving. It is very difficult to control a developing country of 1 billion less educated ppl otherwise.
Creativity and innovation is actually greatly encouraged, but in key fields only
@brianng999 SHAME YOU! WHERE INDIA IS A 2ND GENERATION COUNTRY! CHINA IS A 5TH CUM 6TH GENERATION COUNTRY!

@orkneymist

The problems in China are so immense you can't even imagine.
It all seems oke but the economy of China is still based on mass production (not on knowledge of natural resources).
So if the US (china's biggest client) losses power and money, China losses their costumers, lossing work and lossing jobs.
Don't forget China has to keep 1.4 billion people to work, they can't make Iphones if there is nobody to buy them.
madhat1979 8 months ago
@madhat1979 that your opinion
mquiroz90 6 months ago
@mquiroz90 no, that's just a fact.

@maryjaneissmiling well that is what the media screams every day, that the Chinese economy is booming.

@madhat1979 you are right , the bankers have fooled the mass. in europe the government created a socialism payed by debts, them when the milions of ilegal imigrats came and scrreewed every one , people voted the socialists out , then they got the results. a massive debt and a bank baill out that will make thos people rich for a century. and the comom people pay the duck. i saw on tv today that many people now want t oinvade an african country to help pay the greece debt.
mariamole011 3 months ago
@mariamole011 Greece has to kicked out of the EU, same as Spain and Portugal.
The time of holding up your hand and doing nothing is over, let the greek population take care of their own mess.
But the debt problem isn't just europe, the problems in de US are much, much bigger, but the media don't wanna talk about that.
madhat1979 3 months ago
@madhat1979 the problems is in the long term i think, EU will need work force to deal with its ageing population , and europeans do want to go to spain , portugal, greece during sumer time, to scape from the sun., the europeans would loose with out those countries. the oil , gas reserves arent eternal, soon they will move south for more energy, but i undertand your point, thoese coutrnies haven srewiing around for a long time, but remember , most people there are black and muslim.
mariamole011 3 months ago
@mariamole011 Black and Muslim? well NO, most of the spanish and greek population are Christian and white.
They just have a wrong aditude, mainly because for over 10 years they get truckloads of money from west europe, the greek don't have to pay roadtaxes because all the roads in Greece are payed with money from Germany, France, UK, Holland and Denmark.

@madhat1979 true- yet the chinese economie as a whole is much stronger than the economie of Europe or the USA. doesn't matter that many people are poor- the state is rich. so rich, that it can refinance our fine lifestyle.
drfaul 2 months ago
@drfaul The problem is that China's economy is build on cheap labor, so they can't change that or else the production goes to other low-cost countries like India.
So most of the chinese workers must keep a low salary to maintain China's growth, to keep the citizens poor, the state can be rich, just like a communist state.......that's why China never can be democratic AND have a high rise economy, because in a rich democraty people smply don't work 15 hour a day for 5 dollars
madhat1979 2 months ago
@madhat1979 right. but how it is, the chinese are the strongest economie worldwide.
drfaul 1 month ago
@drfaul well, China has the strongest growth.
But they're not the most stable because China is still to dependant on Western consumption and doesn't have a great internal economy.
The Iphone for example is mostly made in China, but 95% of the Iphone's are bought in the US and Europe.
So if the Western world can't consume anymore, China will lose production work, cause the average Chinese worker doesn't make enough to buy an Iphone.
madhat1979 1 month ago
@madhat1979 yet that are just the results of the international globalization.
i am German. we are the second strongest export nation after china. although most of the people here couldt by an iphone, we are desperatly dependant on foreign consumption.
drfaul 1 month ago
@drfaul I live in holland, the 5th strongest export country, so we have the same problem.
But some western countries also have a strong internal economy, China doesn't have that BECAUSE they're a low cost country, the average income in China is 1500 dollar a year, that's less than Iran or Bosnia.
The only thing that makes them strong is there are 1.4 billion people who has nothing to say, in fact: china is just a few people govenment with 1.4 billion slaves.
madhat1979 1 month ago
@madhat1979 the average chinese citizen thinks he is happy, though. and they are most optimistic to future times.
i think- we as europeans can't really understand the collective concept of the chinese society. we are pure individuals and they are a single part of their whole great country. that makes them happy and proud. yet don't mistake it with nationalism. it's much more binding- and much less vulnerable for racism.
greets- faul :=)
drfaul 1 month ago
@drfaul Still. I don't think the way China does things is the normal way.
Just take the censorship on media for example, the chinese population is "happy" because they don't know better.
This kind of promotion movies remind me of the propaganda form the USSR in the 70's and 80's where you saw dozens of happy Russians while everybody knew that a lot of russians lived in poverty.
madhat1979 1 month ago
@madhat1979 so i don't have it from TV. my father worked as a glasses designer in the last twenty years in hong kong, korea, taiwan, macao and shanghai. i was 8 times in china and talked to a lot of people from very different social classes.
i think, the migrant worker and the farmers are in bad situations, but it will be better 'cause the problems are well known.
drfaul 1 month ago
@drfaul there is a lot of dissatisfaction between the population, a lot of factory workers barely can come around just because their salary hardly rise to keep the western clients.
Another problem is the fast growing gap between rich and poor, or the way the government acts against the population.
madhat1979 1 month ago
@madhat1979 i can't judge about a government that has about 1,3 billion people to manage out of my tiny little Germany.
the poor/ rich gap isn't a real chinese problem, it's a global problem of the way our finance systems are working.
drfaul 1 month ago
@drfaul I don't judge the chinese government for controlling so many people, but I do for manipulating them.
When the three gorges dam was build, over 30.000 people where forced out of their houses, same for the build of the Olympic stadions in Beijing.
China say they are democratic but you can't demonstrate against State dessisions or else you get jail for 20 years.
madhat1979 1 month ago
@madhat1979 yes- some people have to make sacrifices for the benefit of all. thats not a gently, but an effective way.
we Germans don't want no longer atomic energy. so we have to build thousands of new windmills, cables and energy storages.
in every little village some super democratic people gather for protests. they collect signatures and prevent the build preparations.
a world wonder like the three gorges dam could never be build in the system of my country.

Another example of how the chinese economy malfunctions: the big shopping malls that have been build in China or for 80% empty. Rents are to high for retailers and sales are too low... But China wants to have its 'prestige buildings'....
Change6609 8 months ago
Well, with chinese inflation (money is becoming less worth) of over 5%, the situation for the middle class in China is not getting any better. And what is the reaction of the Chinese government? They have forbidden producers to raise their prices. But these producers must raise their prices, because the costs of production rise (rising wages, rising buying prices, rising raw material prices, rising oil and gas prices etc). Chinese government thinks it can beat economic rules....

China is more advance than US in making high speed train and she has now the fastest train service in the World.
typhoonq 1 year ago
@typhoonq The banana vs. watch was just a made up example of low tech vs. high tech. Even the high speed rail is not of Chinese origin. It has German written all over it. Basically, the point is there is no innovation in China. Just walk into any electronic store in China and look at what's on display and see the origin of the technology, you will see the point.
China overtaking the U.S. by 2025 is just a dream. China relies on export to grow. Chinese growth shrinks along with American wallets.
lustcorp 1 year ago
@lustcorp
That explains how the EU is current China's largest trading partner and export market right? Not the US.
China is definitely going to overtake the US, it's just a matter when.
Phead128 1 year ago
@Phead128 China is as big as 4 U.S. in population. Yet, China relies on U.S. and E.U. for export. When a country relies on export to grow, its potential is limited.
The Chinese government learning ability is low, because the bureaucrats are stupid, especially Hu Jintao.
When U.S. needs something, like a laser to shoot down a missile, we tell companies in the U.S. to invent it. China rarely, if ever, tries to invent anything.
Keeping up with the Joneses is all China does, not getting ahead.
lustcorp 1 year ago
@lustcorp
You realize China is behind, China is poor, and China is uber stupid and backwards prior to reforms.
China has accomplished great deal in the past 30 years, I don't need fuckers like you bringing China's accomplishments down.
Phead128 1 year ago
@lustcorp
Phead128 1 year ago
@lustcorp
Japanese economic miracle had 7% growth for 20 years, Taiwan/Korea/HK/Singapore had 7% growth for 15 years.
China has 10% growth for 30 years and still forecast to keep up 9-10% growth for another 10 years.
China has the longest and most sustained rapid growth in human history.
You don't seem to understand this fact.

Stridus7 1 year ago

THIS ECONOMY POWER IS JUST 80% FROM CHINESE FORAIN TRADING POWER !
WITHOUT TRADING ,CHINESE ECONOMY GOING 1/2 VANISHED!!!!!
WHERE AMERICAN POWER IS THEIR TRUE GLOBAL INTELLIGENCE STRATEGY.
THAT ALSO EASYLY CRUSHED THE CHINA!!!!!!!!!
souro19 1 year ago
@Ian5451 98th place at what? GDP per capita? Sorry, but GDP per capita doesn't resemble the quality of life in a country, you need to look at the Quality of Life index of a country at which China hits the 60th place, which is not that bad. Actually, most of us here can afford appropriate food and clothing. Our standard of living is better than in most developing countries.
ManjuSu 1 year ago

If we transition into democracy, will the Uyghur\Tibetan stay as part of China, or will they vote to secede from China.
bobxchen 1 year ago
@bobxchen democracy is not the best political system out there buddy. as Winston Churchill once said It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.
what makes you think transition into democracy is the best form of governance?
da5families 1 year ago
@da5families Churchill won the war, but in the election of July 1945, he was defeated. The remark about democracy was made when he had lost power and had every reason to be bitter. Fortunately he kept his sense of humor even in the most trying circumstances.
bobxchen 1 year ago
@bobxchen You probably know more about that than me due to your understanding of the context from which the quote arise. Nonetheless, that has no significant bearing in discrediting what he said. The academic communites in North America, literature, and international relations books have often referred to that short quote, because to an extent, its true.
da5families 1 year ago
@da5families democracy would bring a lot of benefits for China
1. reduce corruption: free press will be able to expose corrupt officials.
2. allow workers to form labor union to bargain for better pay and work condition.
3. Less money business owner need to pay for bribes.
4. accountability, transparency for how government is spending tax payer's money.
5. More soft power for China: Public relations, name/brand recognition, better image.
bobxchen 1 year ago
@bobxchen Does democracy = voting? If so then you have already misinterpreted democracy. I believe democracy is more of a perspective, rather than a political system.
MeatJigglingZombie 1 year ago
@da5families
6. instead of just following orders, chinese people will be more intellectually mature.
By vote People will collectively decide on the
issue and accept the consequences of their own decision, be it good or bad.
Thru trial and error the public will learn from its own mistakes and grow wiser and make wiser decisions.
bobxchen 1 year ago
@bobxchen Democracy will also seriously stunt China's rapid modernization...
We will become like India...which is democratic but also extremely corrupt. What is the point of democracy if the results of elections are rigged? Not to mention the infrastructure of China isn't capable of supporting democratic elections. Remember a large portion of people in china are rural farmers with difficult access to the cities + uneducated and definitely not capable of making "decisions" for the country.
brianng999 1 year ago
@brianng999
You need not adopt full-blown democracy, but you certainly can have more freedom of thought.
More freedom of thought = more CREATIVITY and INNOVATION. And more creativity and innovation can only benefit China.
S1587915G 1 year ago
@S1587915G The problem is the CCP wants to:
1. remain in power, duh
2. make full use of the current high economic growth to speed up modernization

WHERE INDIA IS 65% POOR COUNTRY BUYING POWER 4.5 TRILLION DOLLAR .
CHINA IS A RICH DEVELOPMENT COUNTRY BUYING POWER 6.2 TRILLION DOLLAR.
CHINESE MOST MONEY SOURCE IS TRADE.
INDIA'S MOST MONEY SOURCE IS DOMESTIC TRADE.
SO INDIA HAVE MORE PLACE TO BETTER PERFORM THAN CHINA.
