i think im screwed right now. im one of those iphone owners who's going crazy. i updated my phone from itunes directly which updated the baseband. there's no compatible jailbreak for the new baseband that's why they told you to download the custom firmware and jailbreak with quickpwn. downloading the custom firmware allows you to update to 3.1 without changing the baseband........... i guess i have to wait for the new jailbreak

No, the other guy that said that they would dissappear is retarded. As long as you have backed up your iphone in the past, then all your previous apps are still there after restoring after the jailbreak. But even if they werent, you can now get them for free through cydia and installous.

ok, iPhonesandiPods.... great video, very helpful, i did everything the exact way you did. But, when i went to restore my setting, after teh white screen, a message on my computer popped up telling me that it couldn't restore settings.... so i tried to restore the factory settings, and it gave me the same screen, i later figured out that i should bypass the iPhone dock, and connect straight to the cord.

Cydia is awesome they make their own apps so some apps Cydia has you would have to pay for to get a similar app in the app store.

Cydia has themes which app store doesn't even I don't think so you can download thing where it's a Ferrari theme lets say, it'll have a lot of cool stuff to with Ferrari.

For ME I have a Windows 7 theme it's a huge system theme almost 20mb file, a lot of my icons, weather app has changed to look like Windows, very neat.

well i got the jailbreak to work.. but when i downloaded Snowboard from Cydia my ipod wouldn't start up after you had to restart it!!! When i plugged it into itunes it wouldn't recognize it either!! To fix it i had to press and hold both power button and home for a couple seconds and re-install the jailbreak..

Yes it's bad.

You need to drag the Application to the Applications folder on your hard drive.

There should be a shortcut on the left of any Finder window, drag it there.

Otherwise, when you reboot or unmount that DMG your app is gone & you need to reopen the DMG.

Are you sure you are not ganging 3rd gen iPod touch with the 2nd gen?

1st gen: The one without internal speaker, looks like brick

2nd gen: One with internal speaker, but still hardware wise is close to iPhone 3G (not more powerful)

3rd gen: Bigger sizes, more powerful (more like 3GS) - Externally about identical with 2G.
