I love how you can hear their Oxfordshire accents through the vocals; it's almost like chanting or something. These guys were way ahead of their time then, and they would be today too.
who gives a fuck whose tunes this sounds like? it's fucking beautiful and brings back awesome memories for people whose musical tastes grew from these gorgeous soundscapes.
HOT DAMN !!!! Havent Heard This Boss Song Since 1990 On The ROQ--KROQ--106.7---Pasadena/Los Angeles--They Sound Kinda Like The Leaves & The Standells & The Awesome Arthur Lee & Love, From 1966
@GrungeRiver Prob you're right, since the Roses where the hottest thing around at the time, but I can trace a lot of The Byrds, not only in Ride's sound, but in the whole Indie scene of the late 80s/early 90s. I firmly believe that the Byrds are as influencial as the Beatles in the evolution of the 80s college rock sound.
@GrungeRiver hey grunge river. Didn't andy bell and co see the roses at the alexandra palace gig and the influence came from there as ive heard they also had limited copies of sally cinnamon which would have been alot earlier? Either way you can defo hear the influence.
I saw Ride live 12 times. Infact I still have my 'Slough music festival' tshirt that they headlined.
Chapterhouse, Lush, Curve were all brilliant. But Ride and Slowdive were the cream of the crop. Infact I saw slowdive support Ride a few times....... Awesome.
I saw Ride live 12 times. Infact I still have my 'Slough music festival' tshirt from '91 as well as every Ride 12" singele and EP. Chapterhouse and Curve were pretty good. But really the only people who got close to Ride were MBV and Slowdive.
saw them twice in the SF bay area early 90s. the drummer was absolutely stunning, l wasn't expecting it for whatever reason. l'd always thought he was probably the best live drummer l'd ever seen. 15 years later in a bar in SF some random girl says "You know who the best drummer was? the dude from RIDE!" yup.
@rickedrick: because they were imaginative and creative. If they'd followed the Stones' example, they would have been treading the same middle of the road path for years. Better to be brief and brilliant, I think.
by far the best indie band of all time, lost count how times i watched them live, but brighton their last gig ever blew me away & very emotionel for me,RIDE NEVER FORGOTTEN ......
