Okay just to end this war let me let you guys know, that both sides are bad. Sally is a non-canon character that was never even owned by SEGA. She is property of Archie not SEGA or Sonic Team. Amy in the other hand may be the only hedgie for Sonic but he doesn't like her and in good reason. Like people said, she was just another hedgehog in Sonic's real-canon world till SEGA fucked her up. We got a non-canon, fake piece of American trash and Japan's crazy idea of a suitable girl for Sonic.
It's ok, people can like whatever they want, as long as they don't bother one another. Right now, I don't really like neither of them, guess you're right though, and I gotta admit, Sonic is way cooler without a "girlfriend" in the games, that's why I liked Sonally better since in the comics it fits very well, but let's face it, Archie Comics are very different from the games in both story and character personality.
@Sonsally I'm not gonna lie. I liked Sonamy before, and I kinda still do. You see, I first saw Amy in her first design and I thought she was really cute till they redesigned her, and now, not as good. I still like the idea though. Just an opinion but I like my peace loving, yet impatient hedgehog, rather than archie's war-loving bastard hedgehog. Also, Amy is less crazy in the games as she is more "independent" than archie's fan girl. No offense, really, I liked the first US cartoon.
I guess it fits in both ways, I mean, Sally fits in the type of story from Archie and SatAM and Amy sometimes fits in the games, my big problem is how irritant Sega made her sometimes, I'd be way better if she loved him like in a secret kind of way, not bothering Sonic all the time because she wants to marry him.
@Sonsally Thing is I kinda think Archie weekened Sonic like SEGA weekened Amy. You see in the comics, Sonic is practically powerless, he can't even take back a city. In the games he can bring down a whole fleet! Well, like Archie SEGA makes their mistakes. I agree though, SEGA should make Amy less crazy, and maybe a secret love is better. You saw Sonic and the Black Knight, it looked like Sonic hit on her, why!? Because she didn't squeeze him to death.
As I said before, Archie is way different. The comics are not for kids, since there is not as much action like the games. They are about storyline, Archie shows the other side of the Sonic Universe and that's what, in my opinion, makes it so good. The story is so interesting at times that is no wonder why is one of the most successful game-based comics. But it's for the ones who like that stuff, it's not for everyone.

Mina Mongoose and Fiona Fox aside from Sally herself. He NEVER kissed Amy in anything unless you count in fan fiction, but overall its a cartoon..grow up..

But look, the games pretty much say Sonic has never kissed anyone! Do not trust any comics, mangas, US tv shows, or even the JAP tv shows, only listen to what Sonic Team has to say, their is no Sally or freedom fighters, but their is also no "sonamy" nearby.

@thehalowarthog A kid should not be dating no teenager. It is simple as that. Sonic in the comics is not weakened. Sonic in the comics effortlessly defeated eggman, as he threw insults at Eggman. Sonic just toyed with Eggman. Eggman actually went insane in the comics, because he just couldn't take another loss from Sonic. Sonic actually even felt bad about making Eggman go insane. It's not that he loves war, it's just Sonic just has fun as he fights. Game Sonic is a Gary-Stue.
@TheEzekiel300 Kids do have a right to date teenagers, now the number of people that do that in the US is alot but is 1 person compared to the number of couples in Japan. You just can't be ignorant about this, age is just a number, besides Amy and Sonic haven't hooked up yet and I don't think they will in a long time, and this Archie Sonic is war-loving and weak, he never goes super and just blows the city up, and their is a difference between having fun, and enjoying battles and destroying.
@thehalowarthog It's not a matter of age, this is CARTOON FICTION, and about Archie, you can dislike it but never say it's weak, since it's been going on since the early 90 and has probably the best story in the franchise along with SatAM and SA2. The comics show the other side of Sonic, and the cool thing is you get to know him a little better, they go deeper into Sonic's personality. It may sound like a waste of time to some people, but to hardcore fans like myself, it's very enjoyable.

@Sonsally Very true, but I don't completely hate archie, i just hate how people start thinking it is the real canon and they completely ignore the games that Sonic Team worked hard on. It's better to BE Sonic than to read about him. Besides, noth Archie/DiC Sonic and SEGA Sonic are different. Archie/DiC Sonic wants a mate while SEGA Sonic just wants to have fun.
There is no Real Canon, as a fan you can like the one you want, or both. For the fans that want Sonic action 24/7 then they should go with the games. The ones that want a story and more depth into Sonic's personality they should go with the Comics and SatAM. Or like myself, who like both games and comics because both give me two different things even though they come from the same universe.
@Sonsally I used to think everything was involved with Sonic but there is indeed a canon. It was the canon from 1991 to today. Sonic does infact live in Earth as it has been confirmed by the JAP manual from Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Sure it's fun to read the comics and explore all the media, but too many people confuse this show as the real canon. i like alot of the media like Sonic OVA or AoStH, but I prefer the games just a bit more...........
Well that is a matter of opinions, I like both sides of the Universe. And I think people should look it from a different perspective. People shouldn't compare the two, since one is about Story and the other one about Games and gameplay, that's what I try to say. People compare it as if there were the same thing and they aren't, both have different goals to achieve and both target different public.
@thehalowarthog Game Sonic has no personality. Game Sonic's personality is just bland and stays the same all the time. Archie Sonic shows all the sides to his personality. Sonic has went Super in the comics against Dr. Eggman's computerthat had controlled Tommy Turtle, Sonic went Super in the comic's against Dr. Eggman in the Genesis Saga and Sonic went Super Sonic against Enerjack. @TheEzekiel300 Also, Sonic does have a personality, unless all you do is read comics all day. One of Sonic's creators, Yuji Naka(thats right he was japanese not no european or american incase you didn't know) didn't even know this show existed until recently last year i think. Sonic's personality is more pure in the games, he likes to have fun without destroying, he has no intentions of mating with ANYONE, and he only goes violent when he needs to. Here, he's ALWAYS violent.
@thehalowarthog Sonic does not have a personality in the games. It's just straight forward with him. I already know that Sonic was created by Naota Oshima and Yuji Naka. But I bet you didn't know that, Sonic 2 through Sonic & Knuckles was produced in America at STI. Not only was Sega of America responsible for giving Sonic his final design, but they also made Sega of Japan get rid of there original idea of Madonna being Sonic's original girlfriend. SOA played a huge role in Sonic's success.

Sega of America did do guerrilla advertising which helped in the success of Sonic, so I believe Sega of America does deserve have their own cannon and that cannon is the comics licensed by Sega. The out line of the comics are actually sent to Sega of Japan 6 months a head of time for conformation. And remember Sega of Japan isn't perfect.
@TheEzekiel300 The comics do have a canon but it's usually considered a spin-off, just like the games like Sonic Riders series, or any manga made by Japan. And true, SOJ is not perfect, if a comic was horrible nothing would happen to Sonic but if a game was bad like Sonic 06, Sonic would be near death, but thankfully he's still alive for game lovers and comicbook lovers.
@TheEzekiel300 It wasn't licensed by SEGA of Japan. Their job is to make the games along with Sonic Team and Dimps. It is a spin-off. It is one of many spin-offs. The cartoons, mangas, comics, even the mario and sonic cross-overs.

Note: For those of you who are ignorant - in one of the latest issues of the Archie comics, Sonic and Sally get back together and go on a date. Seeing this, Amy of all people happens to say that so long as our favorite blue-quilled Hero is happy - she's happy.

It's not that I'm ignorant, i'm sure the comics have a much bigger story, I'm just not interested in this version of Sonic, however, i' am a fan of the first US Sonic cartoon AoStH. But anyways, it's been confirmed a long time ago that the comics are non-canon, and same with anything else that is not supported by Sonic Team......

Note: I should mention that the 1993 OVA was the first JAPANESE Sonic product outside of the games that was controlled EXCLUSIVELY by the backing of Sega. Sure, Sonic appeared in a 1992 manga, but that was OWNED by Shogakuken (makers of the Pokemon mangas) & AMY herself was even owned by the manga company until later that year when her template, Rosy the Rascall, appeared alongside Sally in Sonic The Comic by Fleetway in the UK, to prep the West for Amy's in-game debut in Sonic CD in 1993.
It doesn't help that the resentment SoJ felt towards its American counterpart (due to being beat over the head about Sonic by Naka, when the lead programmer went back to Japan & asked his fellow Japanese why they weren't putting out the calibur of products as the Americans [since the first foray outside of the games--the OVA--wasn't released until 1993, after SatAM began airing in the West]) began at a time when SoA didn't just run Sonic, but it controlled all of Sega's finances, as well!
And before people thumb me down, it is fact that in the 90s, Sonic Team (the original one) had relocated to the US & made games from Sonic 2 (arguably the greatest Sonic game ever) until Sonic CD (ironic that they return to Japan at the time of Amy's in-game debut) in the US with the help of Sega Technical Institute, at which time, Sega of America & DiC & Archie began work on both Sonic series (AoStH & SatAM) & the comics. Sega of Japan was resentful of this & made the current canon as a result.
@dlwashree: Not history. They've been together the longest & since--as per this show's own credits ("Characters [are] Licensed from Sega of America Inc. (c)1992"), the Sonic Bible & promo comic from 1991, & quotes from Ian Flynn himself ("Essentially it all belongs to Sega")--Sally is a Sega character (albeit an American one, which matters little, since Sega of America ran everything in the 90s anyway), they'll remain American canon.

There is no Real Canon, as a fan you can like the one you want, or both. For the fans that want Sonic action 24/7 then they should go with the games. The ones that want a story and more depth into Sonic's personality they should go with the Comics and SatAM. Or like myself, who like both games and comics because both give me two different things even though they come from the same universe.

@Sonsally I used to think everything was involved with Sonic but there is indeed a canon. It was the canon from 1991 to today. Sonic does infact live in Earth as it has been confirmed by the JAP manual from Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Sure it's fun to read the comics and explore all the media, but too many people confuse this show as the real canon. i like alot of the media like Sonic OVA or AoStH, but I prefer the games just a bit more...........

People shouldn't compare the two, since one is about Story and the other one about Games and gameplay, that's what I try to say. People compare it as if there were the same thing and they aren't, both have different goals to achieve and both target different public.

One of Sonic's creators, Yuji Naka(thats right he was japanese not no european or american incase you didn't know) didn't even know this show existed until recently last year i think. But I bet you didn't know that, Sonic 2 through Sonic & Knuckles was produced in America at STI. Not only was Sega of America responsible for giving Sonic his final design, but they also made Sega of Japan get rid of there original idea of Madonna being Sonic's original girlfriend. SOA played a huge role in Sonic's success.

Sega of America did do guerrilla advertising which helped in the success of Sonic, so I believe Sega of America does deserve have their own cannon and that cannon is the comics licensed by Sega. The out line of the comics are actually sent to Sega of Japan 6 months a head of time for conformation. And remember Sega of Japan isn't perfect.

And true, SOJ is not perfect, if a comic was horrible nothing would happen to Sonic but if a game was bad like Sonic 06, Sonic would be near death, but thankfully he's still alive for game lovers and comicbook lovers.

Note: I should mention that the 1993 OVA was the first JAPANESE Sonic product outside of the games that was controlled EXCLUSIVELY by the backing of Sega. Sure, Sonic appeared in a 1992 manga, but that was OWNED by Shogakuken (makers of the Pokemon mangas) & AMY herself was even owned by the manga company until later that year when her template, Rosy the Rascall, appeared alongside Sally in Sonic The Comic by Fleetway in the UK, to prep the West for Amy's in-game debut in Sonic CD in 1993.

It doesn't help that the resentment SoJ felt towards its American counterpart (due to being beat over the head about Sonic by Naka, when the lead programmer went back to Japan & asked his fellow Japanese why they weren't putting out the calibur of products as the Americans [since the first foray outside of the games--the OVA--wasn't released until 1993, after SatAM began airing in the West]) began at a time when SoA didn't just run Sonic, but it controlled all of Sega's finances, as well!

And before people thumb me down, it is fact that in the 90s, Sonic Team (the original one) had relocated to the US & made games from Sonic 2 (arguably the greatest Sonic game ever) until Sonic CD (ironic that they return to Japan at the time of Amy's in-game debut) in the US with the help of Sega Technical Institute, at which time, Sega of America & DiC & Archie began work on both Sonic series (AoStH & SatAM) & the comics. Sega of Japan was resentful of this & made the current canon as a result.

(c)1992"), the Sonic Bible & promo comic from 1991, & quotes from Ian Flynn himself ("Essentially it all belongs to Sega")--Sally is a Sega character (albeit an American one, which matters little, since Sega of America ran everything in the 90s anyway), they'll remain American canon.
