It's very interesting, for indoor layouts barcodes are more feasable. But the RFID system is very interesting for a large outdoor layout.

if using a computer you don't need train identification. Its trivial to track which train is where, so all that is needed is to know when the train arrives at detection points. Why the complication and expense of RFID?
