This movie came out the year I was born, honestly one of the best bond films even though its extremely underrated. People need to give Dalton more credit, he did what Daniel Craig is doing now and is getting so much kudos for 20 years before Craig got the role.
Underrated Bond film. I really enjoyed this Bond movie although a lot of critics didn't. Ive actually never understood why people trust critics with movies. They are just giving you their narrow opinion. I also think Timothy Dalton was a very good Bond. No one will ever replace Sean Connery though, not even Daniel Craig and I think he is the best Bond since Connery
it's a shame that Dalton was very underrated as James Bond... I think he did a fantastic job portraying the character... and the living daylight is my favourite bond movie :)
yah. but mine was personally would be "for your eyes" only because of the dark representation of roger moore in his one of his most clasical and nortorious film yet to date.
@mater19 To be honest, I can not choose, to hard haha. I guess if I had to choose one ( I will probably get a lot of flack for this one) I would choose Goldeneye. It was the first one I have ever seen, and I just love the plot of the movie, the actors that were chosen were just perfect in my opinion, and it was just such a jaw dropper to find out that Alec was running Janus. But I do love all the Connery ones (even including Diamonds are Forever) I can tell you that I hate Die Another Day.
@michaelbroccoli NO WAY LOL, how was Goldeneye a kids movie?? its been rated as one of the best bonds ever by many fans, plus QoS never even had a well wrote script, it was disgraceful!
@AvengedS939 I list GoldenEye as my second favorite. And, eheh The World is Not Enough & Die Another Day are tied for my favorite bond film. To each his own I suppose, but GoldenEye was excellent and the N64 game of it is where I got my nickname "007" that I've used for over 10 years. But I agree with you on Goldeneye.
@MrFriskAnimation Eh, because the hardcore fans seem to find a lot of fault with the movie, and well I can to, I just look past it and find it really enjoyable, and like I said it was my first Bond film, I think thats one of the big reasons why I like it so much.
@AvengedS939 Goldeneye was my first bond film and one of the best in my opinion. I don't why everybody is hating on License to Kill i thought it was a great bond film.I am young so the only ones i have only seen in theaters was Die Another Day to Quantum of Solace Im only ten so yea and View To A Kill Was one of my favorites and a first for me in the roger moore era
Considering the year this film was made (1989) & compared to preceding Bond movies, this intro was made cheaply by any graphic standard: the graphic cuts and montage, the embedding of smaller videos into pictures etc... were maybe good for TV but not for professional cinema. Sure, I hear people say, hey they had no AE or Vegas back then... No, they didn't; Hollywood had better means to produce great graphics. In the era of Connery, they also used something known as imagination and creativity.
@ylaviv You are very right, I agree that they could of made it a lot better, but my guess is just that they wanted to make it like the other openings in the other films, but that is just my opinion.
You're talking about the motifs of the Bond franchise, e.g., Bond's pistol, beautiful babes, naked silhouettes flying through the air in slow-motion. Sure, similar motifs but done distastefully. Moreover, many things about the Bond films with Dalton smelled CHEAP. Most of the supporting actors were, at that time, Americans coming from mediocre American TV series. Dalton was a great actor, could have been a great Bond, but he was there in the right place in wrong time.
Make that 4, Dalton did an amazing job portraying Bond, a lot better then many of the other actors. He even read the books through so he can accurately portry Bond. To bad he did not stay around to be in Goldeneye. He would have been perfect, the movie was dark and edgey, and that just fits his bond so well.
Wonder why Gladys Knight isn't credited in the title sequence?

Timothy Dalton WAS James Bond. Seriously. Read Ian Fleming's original novels. Dalton came closer than anyone, even Connery.
Craig is pretty close, though.

I'm one of 3 people that liked Dalton as James Bond. He was no non-sense, much like Daniel Craig.
