greenemans510 please help, overclocked mine to 3.8ghz with basic cooling fan and cooler master case, temp idle at 50-60 and when put to stress with games such as.. say crysis warhead it goes up around 70, is this safe? shuld i continue? gpu temp was around 60, 45 at idle
@Gamerlol10 Yes that's correct. In games, the difference in performance of the pricier i5s and the cheaper i7s isn't huge by any means. That could change.
what u think i shud buy price isnt too much of a issue since im going to buy a 5970 lol but other componets i aint got a clue what to get like i said im a tard at PC's lol
@Gamerlol10 Well, if money isn't an issue, I'd recommend going for the i7 930. For motherboards you have to buy the right socket for the CPU. i7 CPUs require socket 1366 motherboards. While i5/i3 CPUs require 1156 socket motherboards. Also, you can only buy DDR3 memory for the i3/i5/i7 CPUs.
Lol wut, don't you talk crap. Look at the i5 vs i7 review, he goes through everything. I7 is faster in many other ways but yeah, for gaming it doesn't really matter that much.
I too have scythe ninja over i5 on Gigabyte mb. What are your bios settings to reach 4.0GHz. Isn't your temperature too high when tested at full load?
@vanstraaten2 Why is that, is there a way I can fix it, its been popping up in more vids than normal. Great system btw, I got the i5 myself. I am just figuring out how to OC the i5, just switched over from AMD athlon x2, 5400+ 2.8, and god damn what a difference. Like a bottle rocket vs. Nasa tech.
Hey bro...can u easily fit the GTX275 on the p55-ud3 motherboard? cause the pictures of the motherboard look like the heatsink on the board would get in the way?
Just curious cause i was thinking of getting one...cheers
You're wrong lol the Core i5 supports DDR3 Dual and Single channel, while the Core i7 Socket LGA 1366 supports DDR3 Tri channel, so he didnt waste his money he made a proper purchase. If he'd purchased a DDR2 based ram (be it try, dual or single channel) his system wouldnt even start.
Funny how you didn't research enough and instead came here to flame. I5's and 1156 Socket I7's use DDR3 Memory in Dual Channel. 1366 Socket I7's use DDR3 Triple Channel Memory.
hey man i have the same proccesor as u...except mines not overclocked yet....i have 6 gigs of ddr3 ram...and a shitty ati 4650hd ( 1 gig).....my ques is this...what graphics card wud i need to play crysis on max settings at 60 fps??
hey man...awsome videos...heres a ques for you....i have a new hp elite with an intel i5 using default speed of 2.67 ( not overclocked).....6 gigs of ddr3 ram...and an ati 4650hd (1gig)....i wanna know what it will take to play crysis on max settings at 60 fps......right now it runs on high ( for most settings) at about 15-25 fps..i know my graphics card needs an upgrade...any suggestions??...what do i need to do to my machine to play crysis maxed out at 60 fps...thanx in advance
To be honest, you're not gonna see much of an increase in frames per second if you're already running an i5 entry-level with 4gigs of ddr3 and a high-end graphics card.......mainly because Crysis will only utilize CPU processing as seen fit unlike the GPU which will utilize hardware specifications a lot more to render shader operations, etc for higher FPS. Unless an instruction(s) is being called in addition, it's' not going to execute it since its' not necessary.
price was always a concern in the passed, i've always had amd based cpu's, is it hard to over clock the i5? i'm thinking of going intel on my next build, i've been watching quite a bit of videos and the i5/275 is looking way better then my phenom x4 9950/260 c216 build.
the i5 is pretty nice, the only problem that i have about it is the stock heatsink that im stuck with. So if your getting an i5, i would suggest you invest in a heatsink too.
I'd rather go with an i5/HD 5870, which is the best singleGPU and very priceworthy and the Dx11 (and other features like EyeFinity). No it's not hard to overclock the i5, the focus is on BCLK instead of FSB, and you should come up to 3,4Ghz with the stock cooler, however if you want to go higher without compromising the heat, I recommend the Corsair H50 CPUwatercooler. If you feel uncertain about watercooling, I suggest that you look into the review of the H50 (just search it on Youtube).
3.4Ghz is too high to still still be using the stock cooler, i would say maybe 3Ghz absolute max (if that) on that shitty little thing then after that a high end air cooler or water

How many case fans do you have going to keep the airflow high? Also why is your FPS hitting 24fps at times when you've got awsome CPU & GPU?

@matbhuvi If you do what is called Lapping your heatsink and CPU you can overclock better and temp would decrease by 11C the most is 13C

noobhealz402 2 years ago
So what? I7's can OC to up to 4.5GHz, you can also get ya I7 to 4GHz.
I7's are much better than the I5's too, so you will get even better performance.

Someone's trolling or someone doesn't know that:
A.) DDR3 RAM doesn't fit in a DDR2 Motherboard, and neither does an i5.
B.) DDR3 Dual Channel =/= DDR2.
