  • old school mule crushes it

  • American fat man,..hah,...we (Americans) gave you Brits/Euros the blues,...trouble is, most of us didn't recognize the blues were in our backyard (from South Carolina). Let there be rock, and why do we waste prcious seconds of our lives verbally sparring and not making music ourselves. You wanna critize?? Let's here you play that. @Styvbard63Hardnacke , you are correct my friend, without the USA Southland, there would be no rock-n-roll.

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke Your comment might be the biggest contradiction i've ever laid eyes on.

  • Warren Haynes has mojo. he reminds me of Freddy King in some of his playing.

  • @PostToastie what can you expect from a faggot wannabe somebody, anybody, but hes just a loser and even his mom forgot about him,she didnt know he survived birth

  • nice tribute to a true Legend...

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke where the fuck are u from ass hole do you with out the south there would be now rock and roll and fuck you for saying people form the south have low IQ

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke These guys could play your favorite band's song better then them. LOL

  • @thegr8tganj 'than' ;->

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke oh and lets not forget THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND......So much for a low IQ huh EUROBOY!!!!!!

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke That fat american man has a name. His name is Warren Haynes. He is the lead vocalist and guitarist for GOV'T MULE, THE WARREN HAYNES BAND, and THE DEAD. Evidently you have been hiding under a rock all of your life, oh and by the way learn how to spell proper English before you troll on our American owned websites EUROBOY!!!!!

  • @Styvbard63Hardnacke but he satisfied your mom,in fact the whole band and the audience ran a train on yo momma-bee-otch

  • FUCKIN ES PAULS ARE 'THE NUTZ'

  • Gut, da ist jeder deutch spricht heir habe ich das gefulh(?) zu haus, mehr cowbell richtig!-my german sucks but this fat man rocks.

  • Warren Haynes is the Chuck Norris of guitar!!!

  • @cstuartf no doubt!!!!!

  • better than the original.

  • Warren is making love to that guitar.Look at those facial expressions.

  • Love this!!! Warren is a huge influence on me,the Les Paul, the voice ,the music. I wish I had my online store up so I could tell you guys to check out my music.I'm a TX guitarist/songwrite who like Warren, loves Les Pauls.Wammy bars??We don't need no stinking Wammy bars!! I have a few videos on 'you tube' under "guitarist Jeff Summertime Summers "..As long as guys like Warren , Derek Trucks, and Joe Bonamassa are out there, guitar music Lives!!

  • Pue genius

  • Only Warren Haynes could play rhythm and lead at the exact same time.

  • @dougrhon

Dude u hit it on the button only Warren could do that .WARREN IS GOD. Just saw his new shit The Warren Haynes band at the beacon theatre in NYC ON 5/12 IT WAS AMAZING if hes rolling through your town GO SEE HIM hes incredible but think u already know that

  • @ABBFANFUKN4LIFE I was at that Beacon show as well and will be seeing the WHB AND the Mule at Mt. Jam two weeks from Friday.

  • @dougrhon You said it brother....

  • wwwooooaaaa

  • Awesome! See how fast Warren switches the toggle switch back and forth between rhythm and lead? Just great!

  • @numb41 Yeah and the cool thing is he's using the rhythm (neck) pickup for lead and the lead (bridge) pickup for rhythm... les pauls rule!

  • That was great. A lot of raw emotion .

  • GODDAMN, boy!!! You rocked that song, my brother...

  • Totally killin',Greatest ever!

  • remember the weekends at the brass tap

  • Killer version of killer klassic///now thats how to cover a song!!

  • This is the 1st version that vocally & instrumentally actually sounds pretty damn good....Thank u & thank god

  • Man they sound good as hell!!!

  • Who the hell hit the "dislike" button?!

  • @greenthumbJo obviously there are at least 10 people out there with the IQ of dryer lint.

  • Music for your ass!!!!

  • Notice to all cover bands out there:

THIS is how you cover a famous song. Haynes totally does his own thing with the song, yet he loses none of the original power, drive and spirit of the original Mountain classic. Also includes a little shout out to Cream just like Leslie did.

  • If warren is playing a Mountain song....it's TRIBUTE!!, to a former awesome band from another one........that's all

  • Warren ate Leslie Wests lunch as far as im concerned Warren writes sings produces and also plays alot of ppls stuff better than the original ......like the Letter for instance Warren is a musical genius!

  • l got a fever!!!

  • @gr8guitar69 Please, by all means, post up the link to YOUR cover of this rock classic and allow us to compare notes. It's one thing to CALL yourself "gr8guitar", quite another to BE a "great guitarist" like Warren.

  • @gr8guitar69 im proud to be from south of the mason dixon. you can thank us for real music. and youre welcome.

  • Keeping three essential bands together at once, this best guitarist on the scene today. Period. I always feel as if I am in the lap of the gods anytime I'm present when Warren Haynes is holding court. He could play in any band and go toe to toe with any of the legends. How he remains so humble, so continuously amazing and so busy is a mystery for the ages...

  • @obbor4 Huzzah! I totally agree! Warren is THE BEST!

  • miss ya woody

  • Oh for the old days when people wen to the show to dance! not text and talk the whole time.

  • @joemacattack2001 you've got that right brother !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every 2 seconds the same people look at their phones and text LOL

  • GM playing in Ashburn tonight..

Belmont (free!) concert series w/ Charlie Daniels band

  • Oh yea and I love how they throw that "Politician" tease in around 4:28. Excellent Cover!

  • Rolling stone SUCKS! However Warren Haynes should be on that list! He is the hardest working guitarist out there. I can't wait to see him on Aug. 15th.

  • The man plays his own backup AT THE SAME TIME HE PLAYS LEAD & SI NGS...Shiiiiiiit!

  • mystro you need to be a beat writer for Rolling Stone then, if you think Warren doesnt belong in top 100. Then you both be full of shit. slash ,gimme a break ,Zappa better than him.

  • Warren was a lot thinner then...

  • Nice! Thanks for this! Brings back many memories of the badass old mule trio. It doesn't get better than this! Love the politician tease.

  • Rollin Stone is full of shit, theres no way there is 22 guitarist better than him. I can barely think of 3 or 4 that could carry his road case.

  • @steelermule You have to be kidding me. This guy is a good guitar player but he isnt even in the top 100. David Gilmour placed at 84! Rolling Stones doesnt know shit. Slash wasnt even on the list. Rolling Stone just loves being a-vant garde and obscure

  • @mystro810 Also not on the list - Ted Nugent

  • @mystro810 Slash don't belong on that list. At least RS got something right.

  • James Brown only thought he was the hardest working man in show business. He's dead, but I'll bow to Warren.

  • Every time i watch early Mule i just think "Cream...who?" thanks for these videos man!

  • Man, there is just nothing else like old skool Mule.

  • If it can't be the original, I'll take this one, for sure!

  • Screw rolling stone. I don't need them to tell me who's who.

  • warren haynes is AWESOME

  • Man, is this the best cowbell song or what?! I love the way Warren throws licks into songs like he did with Politician on this one. Allen Woody on an SG bass, it doesn't get much better. God, I love the Mule!

  • @HighLow66: You took the words out of my mouth.

  • as clean as when the great fatsby played back in the day! love the little cream "politician " riff there towards the end

  • @jjhtr Hate to break it to you guys, but throwing in the "Politician" riff goes back to Leslie West and Mountain themselves---they had the habit of doing that when they played "Mississippi Queen" live back in the year (an example is on their "Flowers of Evil" album . . .)

  • @EasyAce u stupd wanna b aint got talent? go back home boy.

  • @FIGHTERFAB Listen to the recording to which I refer, on Mountain's "Flowers of Evil" album (1971)---"Mississippi Queen," complete with the quote from "Politician," was part of the concert recordings on that album. Then tell me who's stupid, boy. Or barely literate, since I never said a word about whether or not this band had talent.

  • Bad ass. Got some "Politician" in there just for fun. 5 stars.

  • This is the MUle at their rawest...more of a "garage band" type sound...thanks for posting it!

  • Damn Good rendition!! Nobody can compare with the Mountain original though this is excellant.

  • The did a good job, but the original (as you said) was heavier/slower...I don't like it as much at a higher tempo.

  • I'll B live, front ona CENTER, tommarrow pm 1/21 @ club Revolution in Fort laudeale FLORIDA< Dancin' like that chick in this video, hair flyin'' LOL

  • egal welches musikalische material haynes über seine seele durch die Saiten lässt..es kommt veredelt und grösser in mir an als die ursprüngliche Originalversion, egal ob black sabbath's War pigs oder in diesem falle das genial bravouröse stück von leslie west

  • more cowbell!

  • we'll see ya'll at the xmas jam!!

Einfach fantastische Musiker

  • great footage, totally ace, many thanks for sharing

  • dude he sings it just like the original.

  • Well, neither Warren or Leslie West are tiny men.

It takes a big man to sing MQ the right way.

  • ya man it rocks, warren kick some ass

  • Awesome. Amazing to see how often he hits that pickup select switch :P

  • thats like the best cover of the song ever

  • Einzep ,Don't judge his playing by the sound of the video,I was at Schoeppingen when Joe Bonamassa played "woke up dreaming" it was Awsome. But on the video on youtube the sound was really awfull

  • warren sounds alot like leslie

  • Allen "fantastic" Woody!!!!!!!

  • more cowbell!

  • more cowbell did you say?? check out Still I'm Sad by Richie Blackmore's Rainbow his first solo album I think

  • Opinion is like a ass hole, everybody has one

  • damn his tone is just awesome, i just can't get enough of it.

  • warren haynes is god! allen woody (R.I.P) was the most incredible bassist i've ever seen!

  • You-Tube "Low Down Dirty Dogs " and got to the clip with a PT Cruiser in the backgrown behide the drummer and ENJOY!

  • beautifully played

  • Iv'e seen him do this song 3 times, its different every time, thats what its about not whos better but that this song kicks

  • And then suddenly..... POLITICIAN!!

  • Sponsored by Wind and Solar cool.....:>)

  • More cowbell l.........Great rendition by Warren!

  • 10 years ago today... Wow

  • I just got punched in the face.

  • face........melted

  • Riveting riffing and soloing!

  • I like how Warren quotes the riff from Politician (by Cream) near 4:33

  • Yeah, love it too. Allen Woody tries to kick it off earlier in the song.

  • mountain used to do that politician quote. the mule is quoting the mountain quote. you can hear it in their live recordings with original bassist felix papallardi. (felix produced cream, by the way, although not sure if he produced "politician.")

  • MOUNTAIN AND MULE RULE!!!!

  • awesome :D Great tune, great band!

  • More Cow Bell!!!!

  • This is a hard song to sing.

I'm impressed. He actually sounds decent singing it.

  • thanks awesome WH

  • Cover band? This is Gov't Mule!

The singer/guitarist is Warren Haynes from The Allman Brothers and The Dead (ex Grateful Dead members band). He was no. 23 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time.

  • and should have been higher :D

  • he should be #1 IMO. He's amazing, and as Leslie West has said before, he's gotta know every song out there, considering how many diffrent songs he's covered over the years. He can play any style, and makes it look easy. lol

He's broken so many barriers in the few years that Go'vt Mule's been around.

He defiently works harder than anyone in the business, being in 4 bands, and guest appearing for Dave Matthews every so often.

  • @KissekattX 23? Wow I'm a Mule and ABB fan, and thats kinda high. Def in the top 50, but thats kinda ridiculous. I wonder if Duane Allman's on that list...

  • @UngratefulLiving420

Duane is #2 on that list.

  • @mcbuzzed Yea that's too high for him too. And Kurt Cobain is 12, Jack White is 17, and John Fogerty is 40...Get the fuck outta here RS. Jerry belongs in that top 5, but at least they gave him a little respect. Steve Howe is 69th. Trey Anastasio is 73rd. Derek Trucks is 81st. David Gilmour is 82. After seeing this list, any (little) credibility RS had with me before, is gone now. All those guys belong in the top 50; Trey and Derek Trucks belong higher than that. And who the fuck is Ry Cooper?

  • @UngratefulLiving420 dude i totally agree with you jack white and kurt cobain??? trey, derek, warren, and jimmy herring should all be up near the top of the list. but dude, ry cooder they actually made the right move, frickin amazing roots guitar player who never got to much attention but kicks some major ass. check him out

  • @KissekattX

Of course they forgot Robin Trower on that list. Pretty sad list.

  • @KissekattX the man is a legend!!

  • Mountains rocks, the MULE KICKS ASS!

  • thats right...they are better then Mountain! haha

  • naeh..

  • RIP Woody!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AWESOME TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for putting it up--CHEERS

  • this guy has even better vocals than the real singer

  • i think my face just melted.....

    yeah, it did.

  • AMAZING.

  • Got Mountain?

  • Also shows that you just can't have too much

    COWBELL!!!!!!!!!! Rock on, Warren!!

  • Wow,! Warren really nails this, This will foreverafter be the defininitive version of "Mississipppi Queen" What chops!!!

  • You like this checkout poasttoasties clip

of bluejean blues. Warren shreds the ZZ top

version. Puts Billy Gibbons to shame. Then thats nuthin new to Warren he does that on every cover.

  • Wow. Great to see Woody on film. This is a great performance of this song...Warren has fire in his fingers and Matt n Woody are pushing the current. Excellent clip! Thanks.

  • This sounds awesome! I like Warren's vocals better than Mountain's! Great video PostToastie!

  • This video is awesome!!!!!! Warren Haynes is the most underrated guitarist living today. This version is much better than the original. Thanks for posting!!!!

  • NICE SLO! I had read he uses one, but now I really want it.

  • Woody...

  • Incredibile!!

  • ....suuuuuuper....

  • more COWBELL !!!

  • youre just pissed off you suck at playing guitar yaiknowscrewme....he has great chords and sing while playing too thats hard for a guitar

  • Immpecable chords! I bow to the ground!!

  • The chords are nothing to write home about but his timing is too fast and it's not a good rendition of a classic. Warren and the band is great- I'd rather not have heard him trash this- IMHO

  • I see he goes into polition there near the end. nice. lol

  • Wow Warren shreds so hard!!!

  • Warrens the master jam guitarist. I'll be seein him in 13 days in Telluride,Co. One of the most awesome and beautiful venues in the U.S.A.

  • DAMN!!!

  • warren is the man. thats was among the sickest covers ive seen and its just warren bein warren. the guy was born for music.

  • Jeez Warrens got a great voice..not to mention that he knows how to choke a les paul

  • Warren just tears up a Les Paul. The way its meant to be played. This is not bullshit modern rock and that is why I love it. I wiil enjoy seeing them tomorrow night in the ATL.

  • The Mule smokes on this tune!I've heard bootlegs of them doing it, but this is the first video I've seen of it.Thank you for sharing.

  • I'm going to see these guys soon at Hampton Beach!

  • It was great if we could see Allen again...

R.I.P. Allen Woody, you played that bass guitar like a true master

  • Love it.

  • LESLIE WEST ROCKS,SO DOES WARREN!!!

  • Warren Haynes and Leslie West are great frends. Warren will tell you that Leslie West was one of his biggest idols and influences. You can try and compare the two but its tuff. Leslie had much better tone and vibrato. NO ONE has been able to duplicate West's tone. Now Haynes can play faster and may play play a better slide guitar, but thats a tough call. On vocals Leslie West & Ozzy may have the 2 most recognizable hard rock voices of all time. Either way Leslie & Warren ROCK!

  • hey depper, this rates right up there with zakk wyldes version, right? lol kidding, that guy sucks.

  • I love Leslie but come on. No one has better tone than Warren Haynes. Warren is a much greater guitarist. I'm sure Leslie would be the first to admit it.

  • music is all opinion- and when you are talking about tone, leslie sounds like no other- it is plain dumb to argue who the better guitarist is-

there is no way to prove it- listen to a song,if you like it thats great- thats what it is there for- why the need to say who is better-
