  • why is google buzz going away??? is there a way i can still keep it?

  • The google buzz launch event was just simple but it is great.

  • and now they're taking it away... =(

  • Your using a Google product to watch this movie.... Dont take shit for Granted ,,l,,

  • I've been one of the first users of buzz since its launch in 2009. Until now I have zero followers or shared absolutely Nothing! Its simply rubbish!!! common Google!

  • I'm surprised more people don't use Buzz.

  • Thank you very much Google :-)

  • google buzz looks cool

  • im hotter

  • Buzz is great

  • One of the things I like about yahoo is they have yahoo instant messenger. I always know when I'm getting an email even when I'm working on other applications. We can also have a conversation back and forth on the screen in real time. Does G-mail have anything like that ?

  • @flyboy8533 lol man google talk. its been out quite a few years now

  • @flyboy8533 Google talk.

  • I'd love to use it.

Especially since I have a lot of friends on FaceBook I don't really care to communicate with; too bad not many of my friends are active Gmail people.

    Heartbreak. D:

  • his email at address bar, why the hell did they even bother to hide it :D

  • Damn, Jackson looks nervous at the Q&A. Also, Sergey looks 'I've got this' awesome

  • nice

  • Google Buzz is great...

Unfortunately, I get an email each time I use it...

  • ça devient vraiment interessant...

  • ça devient vraiment interessant...

  • autofollowing sucked

  • Please make the video views count in real time and not like Twitter or youtube site. Which are not accurate in views count.Their photo are correct in real time. But not video views count. I like the buzz because of the unlimited entry of words that can be posted or comments. Please have it where you can store moving video at back ground or flash video image.I have many flash that I like to post in background. This is what Twitter and youtube lack.Listen to me and you will make it.Thai

  • I Love Buzz and use it to share the sweet life on Digital Honey.

  • wow. They have hudge meetings about every little thing that comes out. haha. Ya. Google Buzz is cool.

  • In the first demo, why did they bother to blur out his email address, when you can see it right in the URL when he's logged in? Maybe accusations that Google has a bad approach to privacy concerns aren't so crazy after all.

  • Ha ha, I obviously spoke too soon -- eagle-eyed attendees apparently caught it too.

  • @scumbly They probably got permission.

  • Love the buzz..

    Thank you for sharing..

  • I like Buzz i wish it could be synced with Facebook

  • I don't want people to know where I am "at".

  • Buzz is very stupid, and I can't find anyway to opt out of it

  • Look at the bottom of gmail... it's right there... along with the tab under settings ...

  • Found it, Thanks

  • what happened with google wave? wi not use a wave with some bots for this simple task?

  • Comment removed

  • Thats a long video

  • This is interesting, privacy isn't my biggest worry, but for others it will be a problem. Your biggest issue is not looking into competitors. Many good points were made about Facebook, there isn't any user game-play! I don't use them but typical users do. For now I will hold off and wait for future versions.

    Good Luck

(I'd like to see notifications similar to Facebook added)

  • Everyone shut up about privacy issues who care

  • it's not our problem but it is a problem to others which is going to mess with it....

  • Oh wow okay they will be pulling this pretty quickly - it is quite clear they did absolutely no real world testing whatsoever. A hacker with a very minimal skillset can pretty much have their way with you with this.

Google has opened themselves up to some potentially pretty severe liability here regarding privacy.

My concern is that I am praying NO ONE in my addressbook ADDS me on THEIR Buzz - jesus this is a nightmare ...

  • Oh my goodness - not only is this tied to email account directly - stalkers can now LOCATE you easier?

Seriously - did you guys test this at ALL?

  • This interface looks great - a very neat idea - REMOVE it from GMAIL and you have something - the fact that its directly tied to gmail is a catastrophic mistake.

  • @StraightShooter01 im sure, knowing google that the api will be available to the public therefor embed able into any software outside of gmail.

  • Google now has a option to remove it from Gmail!

  • omG yes a degree of separation is greatly needed - BUZZ is OFF by default right? id rather not have my addressbook published ...

  • so ALL of your contacts (people you communicate with can pull up your profile and see who you follow?)

    Thats a tad unnerving ...

  • Autofollowing - HUGE security and privacy mistake - HUGE. I dont want all my email contacts knowing or seeing one another - did they even test this at ALL?!?

OMG brb closing gmail account ...

  • I think I should close my gmail account in light of gross security oversights with this buzz nonsense.

Who exactly thought it was a good idea to tie a social networking environment DIRECTLY to your EMAIL account - just from a laymans point of view - a degree of separation should be maintained - this Buzz POSTS your contacts in your addressbook in your profile along with ur email in your url - um OOPS?!?

Yes I believe everyone should close their gmail accounts asap until this is resolved.

  • I agree, I am totally confused about who can see what and feel uneasy about my privacy. Email is email leave it at that.

  • The one thing i don't like is after ready the Terms of Service it seems they can take your photos, videos, words, and use them by remixing, however they choose. If i want to eventually make money on my photos, videos how can i if they are already out there being remixed. Reading through other sites Terms of Service i only found this clause on one other site. If i read this correctly and understand it to mean what i think this is the only thing i don't like about Buzz and removed my links.

  • Google Should Buy The mobile Social Network MOCOSPACE AND INTEGRATED WIth Google Buzz..... Then Name It MocoBuzz =)

And Then When Ever They Sell Their Phones With Verizon The Mocobuzz Should Be Visible On the Plaform..... =)

That Would Get Them New Subscribers..... I Know My Plan Will Be GREAT....

  • @superjadi FB bl0wz

  • So the social network train pulls into the station and Google jumps on.. Suprise suprise.. I wonder which company will board at the trains next stop. Only time will tell if the train will hold the line or derail...

  • Google made a calculated risk. They decided to create a social network to rival facebook at the cost break their customers trust. They hoped that after a few days of freaking out about their privacy being exposed, they would calm down and start using buzz. I hope people complain until buzz becomes its own website and is removed from gmail. The only reason it's part of gmail is so they could instantly sign up all gmail users. This was a pretty evil move by Google.

  • It's an opt in scenario... you do not have to join Buzz and there even is a button to quit it at the bottom of your Gmail page. While I agree it doesn't belong in Gmail, it is very handy that they integrate it with their social graph.

  • i really think this Google Buzz has more impact then all the others together Twitter will be a Dwarf in no-time against this awakened new feature

  • Just new step of globalization

I don't want to be part of that

  • yep

  • Oh wow, it's even worse, this channel even f1lters their comments, go go go pr0phag4nd4

    My comment they 1gnored:

    "talk about pr1v4cy r4p3"

  • @neuroxik they dont filter that, we users do. its the beauty of internet.

  • google keeps making all this awesome stuff... now to get my friends off facebook and onto this stuff.

  • google needs to make a deal with all social net sites, so it can show everything from all of your accounts. Because this is not pratical or popular enough and is tooo compicated for everybody. it will NEVER be better than facebook.

  • hahaha they blured his Email adress in 2 places, but it has it right in the URL!

  • I love Buzz. Really great. Integrates with inbox, good API, mobile version etc is great, some nice features, and generally well done :)

  • Grasias por ofrecer al mundo recursos eticos que permiten familiarizarse con el globo terraqueo, en lo particular agregaria un translator al buzz,¡¡¡ felizidades amigos ya tenemos carretera!!!

  • The lady hit the nail on the head "come on guys smile" we all know you are copying Twitter and Facebook.

  • Oh God, a kid playing ukelele. Groan! Give that bastard a slap! Who CARES about this shite..other people's tedious and irrelevant photos and videos....attenuated communications such as "liking" and "unliking", tiresome, superficial and uninformed opinions of news items. Give me strength!

  • I love you :-)

  • perhaps "bycatch" is a more appropriate word than "friend".....

  • Friends? These are not friends, these are ephemeral, casual and ultimately disposable encounters and the more one has, the less substantial they are. Ultimately, everyone would be a "friend", even those whom one despises. I object to the degradation of the word "friend". A better word is needed. Any suggestions?

  • @credenza1, compatriot

  • Make it available on apps-domains!

  • Ha, what happen to wave?!!! That's one of there product that I'm working on. Look at this...buzz! come on!!! social networking...how gives a shit! I'm very concern of my privacy!

  • if they worth bilion dollers..why cant they get a biger stage like apple keynote..lol

  • @020ray it doesn't need to be big

  • fidy six mins! nigggaaa

  • twitter ripoff?

    google rocks!

  • Wouldn't it be nice someone stumbled onto a way of efficiently harvesting our collective will and insight?

  • I'm working on a new mind control device.. LOL

  • umm, what happened to google wave? isnt this just a shit version of that?

  • Just lean back and let the stream wash over you, i Loled

  • IT'S WAVE 2.0!!!!

  • Yeap, crock of shit.

  • I'm sorry, Google, I'm usually pro with your stuff but this approach is very much like you (a whole rather than small pieces of info) but in a social network (or communication itself) it is all about layers within layers.

You seriously need to improve the privacy settings, like if you reply to a post of a "friend" why other people should be available to see what you said?

What about if it's something particular to both of them even thought the original post was not? (public or private).

  • Wake up, is possible to have 500 FRIENDS? It isn't about friendship. So... cursory

    This world is mad.

So many not important words about not important thing in human life... U just wanna be TRENDY

When I say : I have NO facebook profile do I live a poor life? Because, 1 month on FB was really too much for me.

I like my safety and privacy, maybe I'm to clever to share every stupid pic or "idea".

FB won "Big brother" award, now here is another one, who can be nominate :-)

  • yeh, something which allows you to come home from school or work and instantly be in touch with your friends and family for free, allowing media sharing, must be terrible.

privacy? pfft, just turn it on, problem solved.

you dont have to ad 500 friends, i have 350 friends, and i get on well with all of them, hence why i added them

  • you don't have 350 friends, you have about 5 or 6 real friends and number about half olympic stadion "friends", they don't know you, your nature, but paradoxically, they are able to answer my question "when Neylonx needed to use toilet yesterday about 3 p.m.?" Uf..... :-)

    My friend is G. Orwell

(sorry for my poor english, I speak czech language much better :-))

  • @Janycta, Maybe memes are always looking for new ways to spread themselves, and this is just another attempt at labeling our "memetic dendrites" with something better at finding appropriate linkages.

  • If facebook etc. is a good way to "spread myself" for so much people, I can say just: how sad age we are live in... :-( When you say "facebook" a think about George Orwell in the same time...

And, these social websites are really dangerous, who knows, what will happen with informations?

  • @Janycta, I didn't say or even imply that it was. Simply that it's a natural process, a mutation that may prove to be either useful or useless in the way new connections are formed between minds. Think of us as merely housing for what we know which very much wants a life of its own. From verbalizations, to writing, to the digital age of today, the knowledge we have is gradually using us to create a more suitable place for it to exist. It's a symbiotic relationship between diff organisms.

  • It's fine to be in contact with people, who are far away from me, of course, but I like my privacy too, so I use Miranda (ICQ) to chat and I have just about 10 contact here - only "good" people, "longtime" contacts, not 1000 cursory "friends".

Social web sites are as a trendy fashion. And fashion is different each year :-)

So, I have Miranda and hobby homepage (just about my hobby, nothing private), it's enough for me, internet is the best servant, but the worst master...

  • @Janycta, I reckon it's easy enough for pretty much anyone to find out practically anything they wanted about me and don't worry too much about exposure online. A friend online simply means a 'memetic compatriot:' some idea or thought or meme in my mind found an audience that invoked that reaction. If a rope is a real life friend, with hundreds of thousands of links to us, then an online "friend" is a single thread, or perhaps even just a single fiber.

  • FB is based on (for example) "I'm a 'fan' of coca-cola, oral sex, horrors, books..." You are forced to have another new friends, you are forced to write more and more informations. One day you'll find, you are visible too much, net diary with your photo, full name... Isn't is scary?

It drove me crazy to read sooo stupid things as a "I'm hungry.." I'm not interested in, people post so many tattle, they spend in that way half of day.

And you are the best commercial

  • @Janycta, Certainly it's just a collection of widgets in a virtual environment created by the site. How you use them is up to you. How they're used will determine how they evolve. You seem worried that, on net, it will have a negative impact on its users or society as a whole. I disagree because anything driven by popularity is likely to be so because it has genuine utility. It's just a step "outward" from the myriad of ways we already have for communicating. I see little risk of any kind.

  • Poor FB profile = no friends, so you are boring there. It forced me to write this and this... I hate this "unmask" principe, "we everybody love each other", so I left FB after 1 month, it was too much for me, now I'm satisfied, in this crazy "trendy" world people ask me " Oh! How can you live without FB?!" Yes, I can, and it's really good, nobody is watching every step I take, FB is so full of "friendship" insomuch, that it makes me sick (I'm sorry...)

  • I think, most of users will always be Americans, because you are a "hug" nation :-) (not in a bad way), it's simply your naturality to spread love, fierndship, to know so many people as it's possible, etc..

  • the average human can support about 150 close relations. friends. family. then the rest are just good for getting homework off, etc

i don't add people i don't know, i don't add people i don't like, i think that's sad when people keep on adding just to get the numbers up. there is nothing on facebook you have to do, its not like you're trying to 'sell yourself' its a means of communication between friends

i don't see how its any different from showing friends a photo album, in fact, its better.

  • I disagree, there is many things you "have to do" on FB, I felt it very often...

I think, already I wrote everything, so, thank you for interesting discussion, ananiasacts and Neylonx...

  • hey, I want some + score, muhehe :-D

  • How do i find out when i installed Vista? cant see it!!

  • thank god someone is going to finally create a social networking site where people can waste more of their time posting meaningless bullshit.

    google = cutting edge

  • Ahh Google, what happened to Google Wave? O.o sorry google, not buying this 'buzz'

  • The more I see companies like Google, Apple pumping these applications and products, pushing the social buzz, I realize the beauty of personal conversation. At a small tea shop in the city I live in, people gather around a large table and talk, it feels great. Tell people what they can't live without and then provide a solution. Sounds like the pharmaceutical companies.

  • just a question... I cannot share a youtube video from youtube! GOOGLE keep attention!

  • It really have tendencies to kill twitter and FB, but it has a little way to go attracting people and making them comfort, Yea I know you were the one yelling about facebook privacy but still use it...

  • These questions are making me thirsty!

  • It is a revolutionary step in today's communication. To use Facebook, Twitter, Flicr etc has been time consuming! We save time! Use Google, get effective. G. know who yr friends are, with whom you don´t like to share info. By 2015 there will be no Facebook users, no Twitter users, no Hotmail users etc. Only Google will survive for all kind of communication between people and businesses. Because it is user friendly and not time consuming!

  • And by 2020 we are all in to the google Matrix ?

    ;-)

  • I am completely outraged! I can't believe people I barely know had access to personal information about me for half the day. Just because I communicate with people often, does NOT qualify them, and their friends, as people that should have access to my personal information. This is a clumsy and stupid release. Something you'd expect from the minds over at Microsoft! I wonder if Google hasn't already gotten too big for it's own good.

  • You can turn it off.

  • What personal info?

  • @geusee

  • Worst Google product launch I've ever seen. Horrible interface, horrible privacy "controls".

  • lol, fail ! they blacked out his email, but not in the browser adress bar

  • @moremost - haha, true.. todd's now my new friend and he doesn't even know it yet!

  • May be. It killed yahoo search engine, didnt it?

  • Will Buzz kill Twitter and FB?

  • thanks but i already have a facebook account

  • Lol. Email Fail :P 15:33

  • did anyone watch the whole thing?

  • The audio of this video is kinda below par for Google

  • too confusing

  • Ugly, too complex and tied to Gmail....NO.

  • do we really need this?

  • i love google. but can u guys make 5 minute summary and highlight video instead of 56min video???

  • Idiot. There is a short video with FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND VIEWS to the bottom right of the videio.

  • @jonjonteru They did.

  • Amazing, especially the mobile version.

  • Yes. That's what caught my eye too. I wish I had a Nexus One because I believe that Google will blow this think wide open. This is the only service that caught my eye over twitter and Facebook I barely use because I like Myspace better.

  • @burkejedi it's not because they own youtube as everyone said... it's just a matter of different accounts. Directors' accounts for example have longer video limit. Actually I find it weird that anyone had to ask as it's pretty common... If you search for lectures etc. you'll see that a lot of people (none of them owning youtube) have such videos...

  • why dont they link google wave with gmail?

  • very different underlying structure. i think buzz is a bridging app between gmail and wave.

  • and google complains about china copying google's website. boo hoo. cry cry. thumbs down for google buzz shit

  • you losers @ google couldn't come up with something more innovative than to copy twitter/facebook? another useless google product. thank you

  • To say that they copy facebook/twitter is kind off. They things they mention I dont see twitter or facebook having. Especially that mobile app is not joke.

  • Google wave 2.0

  • Google OWNS YouTube...

  • brainfvck - do ppl really need this?

  • @burkejedi I knew that, what I mean is how come we can't have them...

  • @burkejedi So that people don't load up the internet with hour long videos with things people don't really want to see. Although if it is from a company or partner they may be able to extend the 10 minute limit, since it is probably much more aimed toward an hour long sort of topic.

  • Stop being overwhelmed by Buzz. I wish I could just import everything from Facebook right now, and hopefully someday that will be the case.

  • How come Google gets hour long videos??

  • I was asking myself the same thing, I bet it's because they own youtube

  • Because they own this website.

  • @burkejedi because they own youtube......

  • I think it depends on the account settings or something because I seen videos over 10 minutes long. Not just Google's.

  • It's not just Google that gets hour longs videos. Nor is it just an account setting that you have to change. YouTube has a 'partnership' program for anyone, even vloggers just talking about whatever on camera. Partners don't have the 10 minute limit. Anyone can apply for that and can be accepted if they have already established that they get tons of views per video.

  • Looks like it will be easy to use and make going on all the different sites less complicated, therefore more fun.

  • Exactly. I watched the whole video and I actually like this product over facebook and twitter. I wish I had the Nexus One though and I would definitely use the Mobile App.

  • i dunn understand why he had to use apple safari when they said google chrome was so much better than what's there out in the world! LOL

  • They are using Chrome. They have Chrome installed on their Mac.

  • it'd be rather embarrising to them if they used IE or firefox, when chrome is their product.

  • @sirbishal1 They're not using safari. They're using google chrome for the mac.

  • Good point. I noticed they were using Macs.

  • that totally is apple safari guys!

  • omg an hour long. thanx but no thanx

  • I want a buzz shirt too!

  • I want one too.

  • @ItalianTassoman agreed it looks identical. and they use a mac.

  • It's the same remote of Apple's keynotes?

  • it looks great ..

  • i dont have any friends on gmail.....

  • his jokes r sooo flop!

  • oh.! finally I see someone saying hello to us ^___^

  • Buzz is Awesome!!! Easy... very simple and integrated with Gmail....

  • Yes. And I love the mobile app but I want the nexus one sooooo bad!!!!! :)

  • I want that buzz t-shirt! :)

  • "A couple of yahoos". Fucking lol.

  • Does anyone watch these anyways?

  • I do. It wasnt a bad video despite how long it was.

  • or .. they can win a lot of people .. or they can lose a lot more !
