I agree with most of the things you said. I've been THROUGH SO MANY THINGS from growing up and going to different schools. I was raised as oral.. Then, I went to school for the deaf and gone to mainstream after that. I made a video. You could check it out if you want. Thanks for sharing.
@rachadw Do you have a deaf child or children? Then, you have no clue what it is like to be a parent with deaf children. You will see more states wiping out Deaf Schools because their return on investment has always been negative. Deaf Schools had a chance to raise their academic standards but they didn't. Game over!
@russellerrigo Therefore the choice is LEARNING DISABILITY or special education/resource CLASS (especially if you don't know ASL like I didn't) or deaf school. And in the end, the result is the same.. no improvement in academic standard and deaf are still below average score like my score.
@russellerrigo 90% deaf come from hearing parents. Majority of the time when oral route is not working out great, they send them to deaf school. When we take deaf school away, they will be sent to LD class instead. Statistic don't tell the whole story.
@russellerrigo I agreed with DrDonSC's agrument about "lifetime liabilities". That's true! I don't know you, it apparent to me you didn't know what the really difference between mainstreaming and deaf school. Honestly, it makes me sick hearing your thinking you know what the best for the deaf children. Basically, you are so ignorant about what deaf kids' really need.
I told Barb Digi about this 2 years ago. They had to do this because they did not meet academic requirements for the state of New York. They don't want continuance lifetime liabilities.
@russellerrigo The mainstream schools are where the "lifetime liabilities" are coming from, as I indicated in the vlog. Don't put it on the schools for the Deaf!
@DrDonGCSUS The data shows most mainstream out performed deaf schools and it reduces the government liabilities. Deaf schools are overly staffed with ratio of 11 (Staff) to one (student). Also, the academic levels have not improved for the last 30 years. Therefore, the system is broken and it's time for locals to oversee the disability program than the state.
@russellerrigo Whats the difference between Learning disability class and deaf school? I was put in LD class because I am deaf (the ONLY deaf in my public school) . LD class lower their standard of teaching and half of the things that most kids learn, I didn't get to learn it because deafness got in the way.
Good vlog... I hope you'd not mind that I am posting the link to this vlog on my blog posting about the budget proposal impacting 4201 schools here in NYS.

@butterflyfirefly77 Then you need to validate your point with the Government's statistics.

@russellerrigo And I graduated in the mid '90's so it isn't like the 1970's thing.
