Your confusing your highschool life with the actual american society in general. Its the same in all countries. I was in just a small town in Texas and i felt far from "accepted". I learned to mind my own buisness, not give a fuck, and realize they are just kids. In japan its actually frowned upon to be different than them. American society is a lot better than the way you think it is. look around you. Everyone has something "different" about them whether its their personality or looks.
@vikkaboo You're confusing your high school life w/ actual American culture. You'll know America values individuality and Japan values conformity/collectivism if you actually study their cultures. So standing out (in a good way) in America is encouraged. Yes, lots of kids/people get harassed for being different in school/life, but that happens in all countries.
In my high school, you're suppose to get good grades and not do drugs. I live in nyc, so everyone just mind their own buisness. xD
The only way you are allowed to stand out in America is to dominate both the academics and the delinquent side. After you earn the respect for both sides, you are allowed to do as you want and trash whoever talks down to you. It is about status and the outer image that people judge a person on but when they have nothing to judge anymore, you can do as you please.
Harajuku~ I want to go there and shop some day. I use to dress in outfits inspired by Harajuku trends and Shibuya trends... I definitely stood out in HS. I got 'Most unique' too lol
ppl are complaining about how you cant be different in the US and you cant be yourself here. Evry part of US is different. Where i'm from (Beantown) being different is normal here. There are all kinds of nationalities, religions, looks and so on. And not just in one district. Even in high school there werent hierarchies(popular group) If you were cool ppls, you were cool with EVERYONE. The REAL WORLD of Japan wont except you trying to stand out. but in US i think standing out is celebrated
@ilibabalicous You're kidding me right? Japan is an ULTRA-conformist society. This is the problem with the internet, people are living in this post-postmodern world where they are disconnected with reality. When certain aspects, like Harajuku fashion etc., are constantly focused on...you seem to think it's the norm over in Japan but it's NOT. Trust me if you attend public school in Japan or work in a corporate setting like a good number of the Japanese...you HAVE TO FIT IN as much as possible.
Been to a lot of places but Tokyo is the most amazing place I have ever visited! To me it felt like home as I get judged a lot back home, but here was frigin awesome!
@MrAbsolute30 you can..if u have android download this app: music box after instal search name of the song or the singer, i just download this song 2 minutes ago ....
cool its a great place and everything and would go to japan for a few weeks but not to live i stay in US waiting for my country to be free and lol all the ppl that want to move there it can be great but learning a new language not easy
I hope the Japanese authorities dont discourage this type of dressing. As an american i would definately travel to Japan just to see that...it's a tourist attraction
i just watched a video like a couple of days ago where there was a japanese gay pride parade and there were dudes dressed as chicks, and harajuku males dress as females often.
from what i noticed harajuku is in a paused state of time keeping the 60's 70's 80's and 90's aspects of western fashion intact yet with there own upgraded twist of things. making it overall its own zone when it comes to fashion.
Ah Harajuku, where I first experienced being pushed onto the train, or rather packed in like a sardine. Yoyogi Park is nearby where the Rockabilly kids and others do their thing.
muy buen video y sip! me canso de decir que la moda harajuku no es por rebeldia si no por diversion. se debe de cancelar ese pensamiento erroneo! xDDD PURA DIVERSION!
@XxdinoSTARZ: You will love it. And March is one of the best times of the year to visit Japan. Not hot and humid yet, not cold anymore, and if you're lucky you can see the cherry blosom.
Lucky harajuku girls they can just dye their hair pink and look stunning

@onanidaily
let me put it this way, if they were dudes could you tell?
Dyaisuran 6 months ago
@Dyaisuran In the opening shot, no, but later when they are shown again, yes.
This video wasn't shot in Thailand where the possibility that they could be Kathoeys is very real.
While I lived in Japan and only as a casual observer I never saw the gender lines crossed except with androgynous Manga characters.

Dyaisuran 6 months ago
@Dyaisuran Well, things have probably changed since I was there. As I said, I was just a casual observer back then - not doing any package checks.
Based on the second shot of the individuals in question I still believe they are women.
