The stage manager should go to jail. It's obvious that in this weather conditions the roof of stage must be put down, and wait untill the strom is over! It's normal practice all around the world!
@OctZide : I have experience of playing on big stages. The weather can be unpredictable, but everytime if there is even a hint of a storm coming, the stage crew is ready to lower the roof of the stage to prevent this. The storm doesn't hit in 5 sec. there is always at least 5-10 minute to lower the roof. I guess here it was wrong estimation of the storm
The stage managers must take their job with extreme caution because in this example we can learn that lives of people depend on their work!

The BLAME for this goes to the company that RIGGED THIS STAGE AND the Sub Contractors that SHOULD have warned the fair officials to CLOSE THE STAGE area and remove all the people from around the stage. I heard the actual concert had been postponed or cancelled due to the high winds in the first place. Course there are those that will remain hoping the show will go on. THEY SHOULD Have been made to leave by the POLICE. When you see a possible disaster about to happen....DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT..

The stage that fell looked like a huge erector set....not faulting the people who made it but with all the major storms across the land (& tornadoes) it might have been bolted down???? or the whole thing should have been cancelled like someone else wrote.

it takes hundreds of hours and a crew of 100 working 24/7 health and safety is max.the reason this failed was because of extreme weather conditions making the fore bracing weak at a critical moment when the roof blew off that added to the huge weight when it clearly was beyond its maximum threshold under the conditions and the structure failed.i doubt the stage owner would wish this on anyone not only is millions of pounds destroyed and lives lost -10 points
