Georgie is the King of Cool. Very under rated performer. Just love his tunes and they always come out at a party. I'm late 40's and been listening to him for the past 10 years. His music holds up well.
saw him in London circa 1964. Small dance hall, I stood next to the sax player and just marveled at how sophisticated and accomplished they seemed to me then!
Heavily Mose Alison influenced. Great Hammond B3 player. The pirate ship Radio London played the hell out of Georgie's tunes. It really helped.

You are right, very under rated. I think maybe his lack of songwiting was maybe the problem... most of his output was covers. He always held together a really first rate band, though.
Love this song, great collection of songs you have, the only downside is you are costing me a small fortune because i'm buying them off of iTunes, but it's worth it, Thankyou so much. Love the songs.
I can confirm that the sax player with the beard is Lyn Dobson as he is my brother. Check out his other videos with Soft Machine. Lyn also played with John Martyn, Manfred Mann and Alan Price - Regards Clive Dobson
Thanks for the confirmation, just watching this now i thought he looked like Dick Heckstall-Smith from Graham Bond Org. I guess glasses like that and a sax could make anyone look like that
I wonder if Dick Heckstall-Smith ever did play with Georgie Fame? I know Jon Hiseman (who played extensively with Dick) played with him, so it is possible, they were all from the same time and place...
@clivedobson1 Wow, Clive. I read, Lyn's Bio...very cool! : ) I see he also worked with Humble Pie, among many others. I hope you and Lyn are doing wonderfully these days! Best Regards, Vinny
This song was played on the radio for awhile in San Antonio Texas back in 1966, but I haven't heard it since then. I remembered the song but had no idea who perfomed it till now. Georgie Flame and the Blue Flames never got any publicity in South Texas I guess.
Someone will put me right but this song was written by Georgie as music for an American oil companies telivision advert campaign. I think it was Pensoil or something like that. So the chances are you will have heard the tune many times.
Its my favourite Karaoke song .I sing it just as good as he did so the wife says
i believe that the time is right

Of the many diverse offerings in Georgie Fame's repertoire, this 1966 single still stands out as one of his definitive tracks. A masterpiece!

This was a great record, by the georgie fame band.
note the trombone player was added.
around this time,
but he broke up the band too soon.
colin green was a great lead guitarist,
but is seen playing another one,
other than his guild starfire, he used on Yeah Yeah

Very true, he had one of the tightest sounds for the time for the genre. Could be why he is such a highly sampled white artist now-days

Hey, I had no idea George played guitar, I always thought he was an organist, and a damn good one at that. Love his voice too.
Any idea who the horn players are?
bobgreen623 2 years ago
Eddie Thornton is the trumpet player, the sax player w/ the beard is Lyn Dobson though I'm not familar with the other two cats.
