All of the solutions below, including the one I came up with, break the rules: you can't slide coins over to make room between them, the space has to already be there. This wasn't explained in the video, so now we have lots of "geniuses". The solution shown in the video is the ONLY way to do it that follows all of the rules (which were not fully explained).

You can do it in three moves.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 -- Starting with this, you need 2 and 4 on the left.

I came up with this without seeing any other solutions first. The one in the video uses five moves. So, I guess I'm a bit above the top 1%.

Once you realize that the key is dangling one of the small coins out by itself, the rest is trivial. As for saying I am officially a genius? I guess I can say I am in the top percent of people who he has tried it on, but if he does it in bars like he says, that isn't saying much.

I did that on my first try move and skipped the next move because it was too obvious. I was a kid genius and I don't need a silly game to see if I am one.. In fact, normally I would just ignore silly game. Us genius don't have time for silly game that someone made up and claim that it mean anything. Any proof of that claim? None.
