Dave and Eddie with short hair just doesn't look right. That may sound superficial to some, but to a band like Van Halen, who defined 80's rock arguably more than anyone, cutting off the hair means cutting themselves off from the 80's...cutting themselves off from their roots.

They just don't look like who they are supposed to be, and who they are most fondly remembered as.
