  • Completely agree with the whole Wonder Woman being in the Star Saphire corps, it was total bullshit. Compassion is love in a general sense, and that's what Wonder Woman should have been. Ray Palmer? Really?

  • I hate to disagree with you Amber. Wonder Woman does love life. Sometimes in order to preserve it you have to kill for it.

Say a mother trying to protect her baby/babies. She would KILL to preserve that life.

  • I definately agree with your review.

-The whole "love" thing would work if this was Perez's and Jimmenz's WW but not Rucka's considering that his WW is badass head chopping warrior type.

-I really don't like how Scott tries WW, she draws the nose extremly huge to the point where it is kinda disgusting.

-I was never a fan of Rucka's Diana because as I said before, she came off as being a hypocritical Ren Sonja rip off as opposed to how she was in Perez's, Jimmenz, and Simone's runs.

  • I agreed with the compassion bit about Wonder Woman.

They usually have a mixture of emotions.

It would be easier to swallow if it was a reddish-violet.

  • I agree with you on this issue, I read it last night and couldn't really remember anything about it until you refreshed my memory, hopefully issue 2 and three turn out better. I've seen previews of the Wonder woman black lantern figure and it looks really good.

  • I only flipped through the issue, but here is my take on the flaming lasso. The Black Lanterns could be considered the Ultimate Lie of people coming back from the dead. Thus the lie that empowers the Black Lanterns can not exist when confronted with the Lasso of Truth.

  • I think that's really stretching it and adding a metaphor where DC probably didn't intend.

  • Like I said, I only flipped through it and it didn't impress me enough to buy it. Did they give any reason why the lasso went all Ghost Rider on the Black Lanterns?

  • Nope. A lot of weird new powers just seem to be cropping up though. Now some of the lanterns can teleport too.

  • i'm going to buy this one,if nothing else for a good laugh

  • What was that music on the Credits....I swear i heard 'blackest night' and 'green lanterns light'

    ???

  • ls the panel 2 panel differentiations due 2 the fact that there were about a 1/2 dozen diferent inkers on the book.

All the zomdies r smart asses in BlackestNight, why would ExMax be any different?

    k...0..

  • Yes, I think the insane amount of inkers probably contributed to the problems with the art.

Good point about the others being annoying smart asses too. It just doesn't make sense if the BLs have all the memories/personalities of the former living then why do they act so different from the originals? I expect them "twisted" but not an army of quippy a-holes.

  • it was just ok for me and expectations were high so in that, it failed. But, it was cool. Some talk of what will happen in #2 with Diana already a Black Lantern in the mini series and or an army of Amazon Black Lanterns.

love, will, compassion and rage is what i would think on her.

hehe, you expressed my feelings as well. Wanted to love it, just didn't, couldn't. This was one case of not getting the characters voice that so many say in reviews that now I fully understand the criticism.

  • Aww you have a cat neat? Do you have any other pets . I have turtles .

  • Just the cat. I used to have fish but lost them in the custody arbitration. (j/k)

  • I think wonder woman sprinkled holy Jerusalem oil on her lasso to create the ring of fire. Dean Winchester used a similar technique to trap Raphael!

  • LMAO!

  • I think love was a tactic for WW. With that "It can't be taken, only given" thing she was controlling her emotions rather than being all love.

Gail Simone's the queen of WW anyway. The current run's great. People say "oh there's no great Wonder Woman stories anymore" and they aren't reading it! May Simone and Lopresti do WW for many years to come (I don't want Rucka back)

BTW. Anyone can destroy a black Lantern. They just re form. As they did in this book after WW offed them.

  • @purplegrant I love your post and agreeing with you all the way

  • Great review Amber Love! Thanks! :)

Yeah, the ifanboy guys (Ron) said he was distracted by all the inkers over Nicola's pencils and basically messed up the artwork.

I have not gotten it yet, but now you give me reservations...

And lol, it's so funny how many podcasters' cats come in when they are recording and all! :D

  • Good point about the flaming lasso. I hate when writers have heroes do things that they could not do before. That stuff just seems to come out of nowhere.

  • Was considering getting this, but after reading that review I should be spending my money on a better Blackest Night tie in. Any ideas? After Infinite Crisis, I still feel DC are milking the Max incident for all its worth.

  • I haven't read it, but apparently Booster Gold is the tie-in to get.

  • I have been reading them, and, yes, without a doubt Booster Gold is the way to go!

  • i love your reviews amber. i have just got back into comics over the past few months after many years away.

you have such beautiful eyes, and look great in superhero outfits.

i was so tempted to make a rudeish comment about your cat, but i will just say that he/she looks lovely.

  • I loved it but you have a compelling opionion.

Off the record, Nicola Scott is pretty in real life.

  • Great review! I favorited this. I hate it when the art is inconsistent. And Wonder Woman can't love all life or else she wouldn't take life. She may be a rep. for peace, but she's still a soldier or warrior. Whatever you wan to call it. My favorite portrayal of her is Kingdom Come.

  • True but Compassion is Rare in the DCU I think hope would have worked as well.

  • It's sad when they don't write Wonder Woman well. She could have some AMAZING storylines but they just refuse to show her the respect she deserves.

  • They should kill her off, make a killing in cash and then bring her back, making more money. Then they could kill her again and then bring her back to life, making a killing off of the sales.

Oh wait, that was Captain America.

  • @GAMEMENTOR Oh agreeing with you 100%. I like Gail Simne's Wonder Woman to be honest.

But I am now sure how I feel about JMS taking over the reigns in June/July. He seems more excited about writing Superman than Wonder Woman. But I could be wrong.

And he plans on destroying Paradise Island. Like that hasn't happened a billion times before. But I will keep an open mind about it

  • Agreed, but I'm totally buying all 3 issues. I loved the artwork, and the next ish might be more interesting if it's tied into the Blackest Night series a bit more, I hope.

  • Max Lord was regenerating in the last two panels, so WW didn't actually destroy him with her fire lasso trick. But in all the other BN books the "zombies" seem to regenerate much faster

  • She stopped the entire army of soldiers that had risen from the Arlington graves. After her little lasso trick, they were just piles of dirt. Not every zombie seems interested or perhaps able to regen.
