I gather urine is sterile generally and it can be cleaned and disinfected very easily. I think this is very good for the dogs as it prevents strain on the bladder and eventual kidney damage from having them hold their potty till they are let out. Plus dogs tend to go in the same place and that to me is unsanitary. A clean tub, shower or litter box or wee wee pad is best for the dog.

Plus dogs relieving themselves in public is very unsanitary and probably is a health risk to them as well as to humans. Even when I pick up Rexie's potty with a plastic bag, there is a smidgen remaining and other dogs love to sniff and lick dog potty!!! Not to mention lick their wee wee!!! Ugh...disgusting.

@PKStefanini A dog toileting indoors is beyond vile. The home smells awful and people are attempting to bathe themselves where the dog just took a piss? Really clean. If there are 'smidgens' remaining then do a better job of scooping. Get it all, not just what you can easily pick up. If you can't be bothered, let Roxie snack on it. You are not supposed to let your dog piss on other people's lawns. Make Roxie piss on YOUR lawn so only you have her foulness, urine burns and germs.

@elainehasnobrain Rexie doesn't go on grass or in tub.He eats only 4-5 * foods with avitec. He is tiny so there is little mess and I sanitize each time so no odor and I'm not concerned about germs.I am careful about cleaning up when out but there are hundreds of others on the sidewalk.

Then we track other dog's potty in our home after being on walks. I think outside potty should be banned. There are lovely in-home potty setups that are very sanitary, although costly.
