More like $3: you can reload 500 S&W, with NEW Hornady components (brass and leverevolution bullets) for about $1.20 per round. Once you have the brass, cost drops down to about $.60 per round, once again with all Hornady components.

That's no more per round than 45acp or 40S&W factory ammo using similar components.

If you cast your own bullets on top of that (bullets are almost 50% of the total component cost) the price of shooting a 500 S&W drops like a rock.
