Of course it was a rat/mouse with some shade of gray. So we set up mouse traps (that i hate) and it got caught in one day. We went and just left it on the front lawn at 9:30 this night. Rice, bread, and even dog food, though you have to give it green food too, like an apple.

i think i spoil them cuz last night i accidently left their door open when i was goin to bed and when i woke up i was worried they escaped, but i looked in the cage and they were in their comfy spot they make and were just cuddlin and sleepin....i swear when i put them in their ball they just wanna go back in their cage, they love it in their : )

i have 2 female mice.....i clean my cage once a week, but i wipe down there top area and wheel every 3 days to eliminate odor...when i clean it i wash it and then use an animal safe deodorizer and i have bedding that smells like fresh lavander....i change food everyday, and give them carrots every other day with there regular food.....i use a mouse/rat food and diet blocks....

I've had several mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits, and I've found the best thing to clean with is a vinegar/water mix. It cleans great and gets rid of any odor and is a lot safer than soap.

To fishandapples: u clean the full bedding out every week or it will smell, use recycle kitty litter its cheap and doesn't smell at all.

I have two mice in a nice spacious cage, but I clean them every other day. I find if I let them go three days, they are starting to smell of wee. It is a bit of a pain thoroughly cleaning them so often, but I just couldnt let any animal in my care live in an unhygenic environment.

im thinking of getting a mouse. and i was wondering, how you clean the cage. do you put newspaper under the wood shavings like in a bird cage, or do you have to buy new wood shavings for every time u clean it, or do you take everything out, put the wood shavings into a container, and wash the cage?

I personally never use wood shavings with my mice because they can apparently cause respiritory problems due to the dust/allergy reaction.I always use shredded paper specifically sold for tiny rosents to line cage floor.When \i clean them,I dispose of ALL used bedding and floor lining and replace with fresh.I wash cage and toys in hot soapy water and rinse very well then dry well.I find putting the cage in the shower makes life a lot easier! Hope this helps!
