  • one of the greatest short pieces i've ever heard. i love the music, the story.....it's brilliant.

  • so beautiful, thanks for sharing :'3

  • Does anyone know who performed this recording??? PLEASE....

I'd appreciate it a lot! Thx.

  • @malakoffkowalski I've got a version by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Rafael Kubelik that sounds a lot like this. It's recorded in May 1983 and it's edited by Orfeo International Music GmbH. I'm sure it's not the same version, but it's probably the same musicians and conductor.

  • @tasagaste THANK YOU! Amazing... I actually have the Kubelik recording on vinyl and was thinking the same when i heard it. It's not the same, but still close in a way...

  • Johannes Brahms musik ist schon.. his music is so gorgeous.

  • Ever since I had Music Appreciation class last year, this was the song (I know there's a better term for it, but I can't think of it now) that stuck with me. I even kept the free discs that came with the textbook and listen to the same three tracks of Brahms Symphony No. 3.

  • it's the same for me. i heard this for the first time in a music appreciation class, and this, more than any other, was what i took away from the class.

  • @insaner2play This is not a song.

  • @insaner2play very cool, good taste

  • @insaner2play

If it helps, its a symphony, so not a song, and they are not tracks but movements. Keep listening and have fun!

  • Maravilloso!!

  • Very nice.

  • Oh God... another BRAHMMY!

  • Franz Liszt can SUCK IT!

  • i think santana did a great justice to Brahms on the guitar. if u dont know what im talking about search santana ft. dave matthews.

  • This music has made the way in the depth of my soul and heart FOREVER!!!

  • this one touches my soul---

  • In a way, it makes a good emo song. :(

  • Carlos Santana did a version of this on one of his albums...

  • Actually not only you feel you know him, you feel it was somewhat you, a missing you who composed it. Maybe because his music inspires deep personal or psychological intimacy.

  • I like how many layers there are to his music!

  • Does anyone have the other 3 movements of this symphony?

  • While listening to it i forgot to breathe in a coupple times, this is great, beautiful.

  • Also played in the game "Civilization 4"

  • @PekRaimund RIGHT^^

  • ce serait un plaisir si je n'avais pas de problème avec youtube en ce moment, est-ce mon pc ou youtube?

  • The music is so beautiful......I really enjoyed the video clip - the pictures were wonderful. Brahams left us so much wonderful music..

  • I feel bad for people listening to this that do not feel anything...

This is better than any music of today.

  • Really well done, a charming summary of his life with Clara.

  • @jamespunani Very silly comment.

  • Beautiful. Thanks for posting, xo

  • well santana and dave mattew did a rendition of this classic

  • Best German composer

  • Unrequited love....out of such agony there is a rapture only a true genius can translate. Truly moving.....blessed are the anguished souls of the world who contribute such beauty, without them the world would indeed be a dismal place!

  • Beautiful video. Heavenly music.

    Brahms=passion :)

  • I cried...

  • Oh man that really plays with your emotions!! OOhh AAH Your making me cry Brahmseee!

    Most Heartfelt music ever..

  • Man my eyes are sweaty today..

  • So beautiful!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Thank you so much for making this. One of my favorite movements by Brahms and certainly a work of genius. This is put together in story form very well and even quite poetic towards the end.

  • when I was a child, I knew this melody from Santana's "Love of my life", then I heard a song of Czyzykiewicz (Polish singer) "Aniol bezdomny" ("Homeless angel") and then I accidently heard this, I made a little inquiry and I found also "Baby alone in Babylon" :)

    I love all the versions!

  • razgfx i had the same problem.

does someone know in what court this is played?

  • Movement 1, Allegro in F major

Movement 2, Adante in C major

Movement 3, Poco Allegretto in C minor

  • this is so beautiful. i didnt realize this is what Carlos Santana used for his inspiration for "Love Of My Life" until today. glad i found out :]

  • No words. Genius.

  • Can't stop watching/listening to this...so moving and beautiful and it's helped my piano interpretation immensely Thank you Sellaseat....

  • Never before music touched my soul like that......IT´S AMAZING......!!!

    PEACEEEEEEEEE

  • woooord!

  • awesome

  • wow it touched my soul... im here sitting down with my mouth open lol

  • i like it slower

  • Just love it.

  • What are the performance details, please?

  • I just watched and old movie called Goodbye Again ,and said to myself this is some great music,so im wondering was Brahms inspiration for Carlos Santana song Love of my Life.

  • He he, you got it. What do you mean inspiration, the song is lifted whole sale from this (except the little part "we'll go dancing by the moonlight..."

  • Serge Gainsbourg in France also used this theme for his song "Baby Alone in Babylon".... very inferior.

  • this is one sick symphony

    \

  • Beautiful

  • La GRADISCO...si si

  • Two words...............TRUE GENIUS!

  • I've been playing this in the version for piano, but it doesn't begin to provide the same emotional impact as the symphony...

  • agree

  • o come on guys they must have loved each other.

so the song is so beautiful...

  • Absolutely beautiful... thank you.

  • You're beautiful.

  • ..........?............

  • I was just commenting on your profile picture.

    ...sorry.

  • No problem, thank you.

  • Excellent video! We need more of this on YT!

  • Do you think Clara Schumann and Brahms had something more going on than just friendship?

Just a funny thought, nothing more. :D

  • A child appeared after Schumann had died....

  • Strad, you are kidding... right?

You can never know, that is why I asked. hehe.

  • i read somewhere that they were engaged :o

  • carlos santana lo robó

  • I can't help to dream when I listen it. I would listen this wonderful music hundreds of times

  • I saw this 'live' today.. :D

by an orchestra in hamburg^^ yay. awesome!

  • my uncle gave me some classical cds, and this song was on one of them. I'm starting to really enjoy the beauty and calmness of the music. Lovely.

  • This is indeed the most romantic CLASSICAL piece of all time... if only these masters lived today.

  • Magnifique distribution. C'est très beau.

    Qui est le chef d'orchestre?

  • Je vous remercie pour les aimables paroles. Le chef est Karajan à Berlin.

  • merci pour la belle video

  • Awesome Vid!!!

  • Обичам те, Нежна!

  • this music is beast!! it calms me down....so relaxing!! very beautiful!!

  • beautiful...

    i have no words...

  • And you just sit there and listen... Not one word is spoken or can be written. The world stands still until I open my eyes again.

  • This portrays so much sadness, and there is sadness in the world. :(

  • Yes it is sad... The element is all there and I bet you are a very sensitive baritone!

  • I prefer sepultura

  • perfect!

    thanks a lot )) I enjoy it!!!

    5 *****

  • Carlos Santana heard this and decided it was very moving, so he wrote "Love of my Life" for his guitar with nice lyrics. Check it out, is far from an "Academic" version but takes the seroius music into broader audiences.

  • With due respect you already admit it's SERIOUS music then for goodness sake don't change it. Personally I think Carlos Santana ruins a master piece. I had to stop after 10 seconds!

  • I am what you could call a SERIOUS musician myself (Cello) but also a guitar player in a Blues Band.I understand your point and couldn´t agree more that serious music must remain serious. I just kindly ask you to understand that there is an audience for all kind of music AND if you can move people from hearing and enjoying Santana, into learning and appreciating the original and much superior music- then is a win win situation. Peace on earth. Music are mere echos of God´s voice

  • Beautiful. Very moving. Thank you.

  • I am angry at those who say such wrongs, if only God existed. It takes more than a mirror to reflect the light of good.

  • Brahms is the only man who ever made a "transition" or a long "walk" of notes that doesn't piss me off..

    The greatest.

  • Thank you for sharing the story. This production was art in itself. That piece playing and those pictures have a nostalgic effect that almost brought me to tears. Thank God somebody cares about the passion of music, the composer, the hardships and the joys. That is the process of good music. The notes stem from those experiences. For those who complained about the story, know that the music is the reflection of the story. Composer's with dull lives rarely make inspiring music.
